There is no "scientific belief." Something is true or not. And your god- whichever one you believe in- is it real? And if it's real, what are the criteria you use to verify it's existence (so that devoting a large portion of your life to this end isnt a major error or waste of time?) I really did some research in the past week and found very few people were killed in the name of atheism. I'm happy to change my mind in light of new data, that you might provide. Certainly Atheists have killed people, but they also liked to drink wine- perhaps- and you wouldnt say the wine was why they killed?
And killing for god is happening now, all the time- I see it on the news. And on the news, I dont see people killing for atheism. It dosnt seem to happen like that.

They were atheist and evil yes, true. But they did what they did as results of other beliefs. Christopher Hitchens explains this very well in other videos. It's impossible to be violent in the name of atheism, because it's NOT a belief in anything.
Also, countries which are mostly athiestic are the best countries in the world as far as almost all stats go. Infant mortality is lowest, murders are fewer etc

very few people were killed "in the name of atheism." Its not a principal. Some people have been killed because they believe in some god, and the other person did not, but rarely is the killer motivated by atheism.

Although I'm appalled that you don't use modern day evidence of evolution to discount it, it really doesn't matter. Your attack on evolution is wrong fundamentally as your attacking a scientific theory in order to prove a religion.
Even if you prove evolution wrong (in theory of course), you still haven't proved your religion right. Even if you prove there is a god, you can't prove whose god it is. I'm assuming your evidence is the Bible, which makes this discussion over.

I agree. Evolution could be totally wrong (but it seems so simple an explanation) But you would think that a creator would sign his or her or its work. Somewhere we would see evidence of creative license- places where physical laws dont apply or whatever. But the universe, so far as we have seen, is utterly mechanical- even the living things are governed by these physical laws. It is still a most beautiful and amazing place.

im sorry you are having such a hard time grasping this concept. when you are being communicated with it is in a way (and can come is ANY way that suits the person) but it is in a way that you just KNOW is communication. sometimes its something happening that is too much of a coincidence and you know it had to be god. it could be anything, but you know in every fabric of your being what it is. i havent heard voices or something. it has been ways that are undeniable none the less.

That wouldn't be a wise position in either case. The choices we make, the commitments we make, who we are as a person is the product of the choices we make throughout our lives. We are all subject to the principle of self interest which is the cornerstone of the Laws of Supply and Demand. Every choice a human makes is dependent on receiving a psychological or material benefit. Even if we give to charity it is done after determining we feel better about giving then not. Why relax your standards?

Not every choice made is dependent on self-interest. To claim otherwise is a blatant falsehood. Nothing is absolutely selfish, or absolutely selfless. Strive towards balance.
Though my desire and efforts to cultivate compassion makes me feel good as well, ultimately the majority of that output benefits others, as is the point. My desire to minimize suffering sometimes majorly inconveniences me, but again the majority of that output benefits others. While not always the case, this is the goal.

Blaming political parties or groups doesn't address the issue of corruption which political parties and many groups are affected by. If we deal with the true problem corruption many of the other problems we face will automatically go away. We have the technology to impose a lie detector to an electric chair and if politicians are unwilling to subject themselves to that test, then get a job in the private sector.

I get it, Corruption exists! We cant change that. We can limit it, but not stop it- ever. Religious people are not exempt- priests molested little boys and the higher-ups in power positions knew it. Nobody is exempt!

Why were Priests exempt from the law? What if the victim was your son or your brother? They orchestrated a coverup that put known pedophiles in unsuspecting neighborhoods until enough complaints then move them again. Predators who preyed on children. Prison inmates have more respect for a murderer. Move a rapist dorm to dorm, college to college, country to country? How come no one has been held accountable for the Demonic Torture that took place at Abhu Garib?

Animal Farm was an animated story where the pigs changed the rules to satisfy their insatiable appetite for power and destroyed the farm. Often we hear the term Capitalist Pigs as the cause of the farms failure or many of the worlds problems. The problem wasn't capitalism it was corruption and the problems facing the world today are the result of corruption not capitalism.

I'm not being a prick, I genuinely thought you had a good series of ideas going there. Until we got off track with the priest thing. I was underscoring the point that good people do bad things- even people like priests who were supposed to be "very good." If I had to choose someone to hold my $100 bill, in an emergency, and one of the people was a priest, I'd choose the priest.
