Way to use your equipment. Understanding the tech and applying heart to it is a soulful venture, and you've taught folks things here as well. Very nice. Best to you.
Hey bro big ups on the beats, I have a questions bro, I can't for the life of me work the 8 outs, I have it in my mpc and when i hook it up to my mixer I can't hear anything, not sure if I am doing something wrong....if you can share some knowledge I would appreciate it bro.
@rickylascaze001 Nope, not at all. You just have to manage your samples good to save on memory. Sample the record on 45, and then pitch it down in the mpc. Chop and use only what you need for the beat. 32 mb is almost too much memory...LOL Check out damu the fudgemonk. He only uses 2mb of memory for his beats, and his music is dope.
@rickylascaze001 Yeah, 16mb is enough. I started out w/ 10mb on my mpc 2000. I never ran out of space. I only used what I needed, and erased what I didn't. Definitely get that 8out card though. The efx card is cool, but there are better effects in software or mixers. I sometimes run one of the 8outs through my asr-x for its many dope effects.
Man I'm a fan and it's not jus cause we family. To sample 3 songs and make them all blend like that i stay working with one song thinking that different songs wouldn't blend. I am feeling this man.
Yea I need the 8outs. Ive been recording track by track individually and its a bit time consuming at times. Ahmad Jamal is a great artist. Im still trying to find the album with "I love music" Dope beat and chops, nice.
@3sleeves Thanks for the compliment.....I'm digging your whole beatmaking process also. Under a spell of "gear lust" i contemplated getting the korg sampler. How do u like it? Is it your first sampler?
@hillprop97 Right on. Thanks for checking out my videos. The MS is definitely a mini beast in my studio. I've had an SP-505 for about 7 years and been making beats for about 12 with various software too. I've got a couple of LoopStation pedals that I use to layer and multitrack and various other gear that was at the right price when my pockets weren't empty...I like to approach production MacGyver style. There are a couple of free albums of mine for download on my channel page.
@DKClassic Oh cool, LOL. Yeah man, I had no idea cause the record was in bad shape (scratches all over it). The cashier at the record store let me have it for 50 cents. I had to have it cause its Jamal. I knew it was a gem. Thanks for the clarification though.
i could just imagine if you had an mpc 60 the madness you would create especially when your shit is so reminiscent to primo, but at the end of the day it dont even matter what you have its how you use it
@immobilarity1 Ha haaa, thats funny cause i was seriously looking at som 60's on Ebay last week, but I'm sticking with what I know and love (2000xl). I swear I'm not trying to sound like Preem, but I can't help it cause I been listening to him since like 87'. Thanks though, I definitely appreciate it.
@hillprop97 yea i know i feel you, your just influenced by him, i mean who wouldnt, he's definitely one of the greatest of all time, yea ahmad jamal is one of the illest pianist, keep up the good work, too bad you're not gonna be coppin a 60 that wouldve been dope but like i said at the end of the day its about the user not the machine, same thing with a car, its all about the driver
@MrDirtdevil91 Thanks man, keep that BTV though. However, you will definitely love the XL if you like the whole process of digging, sampling, and chopping.
This is great.

backbreaker1218 1 year ago
@backbreaker1218 Thanks cuzz, but you know how it is when you
sample Ahmad. He has so many elements in his records that you
can probably make like 15 beats off one of his songs. Same thing goes
for Bob James too. I guess thats why a lot of producers sample them.
