  • Just be glad u went to gaming school and not my crappy generic - nothing of interest school that I went to..

  • Source engine and the Serious Engine are one of the best engines ever made.

  • cryengine 3 is the best...

  • sweet over the top music!

  • tell meee, itss nicee!!

  • Headbanging!!! lml Yeah!!!!

  • Looks cool :-)

  • the awesome song is sick of life by g0d smack (g0d has an "o" not "0")

  • the awesome song is sick of life by god smack

  • the awesome song is sick of life by godsmack

  • the f*ckin' awesome song is sick of life by godsmack

  • The viking guy is head banging to the music XD

  • Who sing the song?

  • I need a teacher :(

  • If I'm an artist and I want my creations to be alive and played with, but I have no coding experience at all, what do I do?

  • thx for code you rock!

  • thx for code ur best

  • Wtf is this?

  • ????

  • DarkGDK?

  • This would make a great Gauntlet clone.

  • I think the biggest misconception about XNA is that it's some program that helps you make games. It is a framework. An addition to C#. It immensely helps with the coding. But it's still not going to be easy... especially if you have no experience with coding. If you want to easily make games for Xbox 360 and Windows at the same time learn XNA. But if you just want to drag and drop art and do minimal programming... Find some other engine. I recommend UDK. It's free to use, 25% royalties to sell.

  • yeah...I'd rather stick to C++ & pure DX/OGL, thank you

  • what song?? and oh mah god nice game.. if you make a game for pc can you convert it to xbox easily cause I wanna get good with xna and then buy premium to test my xbox games.. not just buy premium strait away..

  • HAHAH! That music went so well at slaughtering that viking! MWWRRRAH!!!

    I lol'd!

  • @JeremyWilms

First off, JeremyWilms XNA IS NOT AN ENGINE, it's just simple code extensions and library's for C#. So before you start coming here and being jealous and shit, look your facts up.

  • Badass.

  • 85% of the engine is already written for you w\ the starter kits. A little hackery and you get something like this.

Hell, if you're going to rip that much, which don't you just use a real engine? Torque for example.

  • It's true that I used the starter kits to learn the basic skills required but I wouldn't say 85% of the engine was written for me.

I don't use a serious engine because it was just a lab assignment I had to do, I don't plan to be a 3D game programmer nor make a full game out of this :)

  • @liviutrifoi so why are you taking this class if you don't plan on making a game? just wanna make programs? AHHH!!!!! that'd be so boring

  • @KneeSlapperProductz Forced by the circumstances, because there weren't any useful optional classes.

  • @liviutrifoi

lol, i am programming because its fun? How it isnt for you

  • @liviutrifoi

    sad face you did good

  • first of all why are you hatting on XNA. the same with DEV C++, and every other gaming framework, and no one uses the started kits, there just to learn. if you want it to be hard since that is apparently what makes a good game go download ASM

  • @nickrohn93 Dev C++ is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for C++ programming. It is not a "gaming framework".

I agree with your point though; XNA is wonderful.

  • @JeremyWilms

Why use an engine, why dont you make your own engine?

  • @JeremyWilms In fairness, it's the 85% of the engine that would be spent reinventing the wheel anyway.

  • Soulblast?

  • nice job

  • epic viking game!!!

  • welcome to the internets.

nice 3D project btw, xna 3d intimidates the hell outta me.

  • @saucengine Take a look at native Direct3D code if you want to REALLY be intimidated ; ).

  • FIRST ATTEMPT???!!!! lol! nice

  • somebody's been watching too much p0rn :P

  • LOL

  • This is very good. I've been programming for 10 years and I know from experience how difficult game programming is.

With the collison detection, physics and math complications, it can be a very daunting task.

  • Well i got a question for you then if im band new at it where can i start off?

  • Google "XNA"

  • THE other Barberian DIDNt even fighT BACK!!! thaTS FUCKED UP!!! also he slides around the Place Like a fuckING LITTLE TWIT!!!!

  • It's only a first attempt at making a 3D game... I say that for a first attempt, it needs some work, but it's pretty good. There's no need to get so riled up...

  • your commenting like a fuckING LITTLE TWIT!!!!

  • He was experimenting... duh? Like, seriously, this obviously wasn't a finished project. Are you stupid or something?

  • Whats the name of the song ?

  • pretty intense music for textures changing lol

  • yep :)) textures changing is very intense :P

  • xna is c# write??

  • you can write games in C# with XNA, yes.

  • can you write in any othere languges like c++?

  • XNA only comes with C#

But you can use it on : Windows / Xbox / Zune

  • Nice man :)

  • lolgj

  • nice... bad u made it in 2005:(

  • lol thats pretty fun

  • yellowman67's comment is not spam!!!

  • This game looks pretty impressive considering it was built by one person, but you wont get anywhere unless you find a team to help you. Blizzard Studios said it them selves, "The key to building videogames it knowing how to work with others and being open to new Ideas, following not your dream but the teams dream."

This game looks like its going to take allot of work to finish, so just a little advice, instead of titling this vid as "My", title it as "our".

  • I totally agree, I have a team called Ngon Entertainment, and it's much easier and faster to accomplish bigger and better games. I think you should listen to vulkein, he says something really good :D

  • But this guy did make the game himself, he has the right to called it "My Game" all he wants unless he used someone else's code or graphics (which if that character is from WOW, then I guess he should state that but he still wrote all the code himself).

If you want to make a WOW, Fallout 3, or Halo 3 sized game, yes, you need a development team. That doesn't mean hobbyist can't accomplish what they're aiming for, not everyone aims to make professional games but like to make simple games.

  • actully not . A person can delevop a game self but It will take long time so before its ready .

  • the problem with independent game developers today is they ALL work alone. this game looks very nice for being developed by one person, but you wont get anywhere unless you find a team and learn to work together. blizzard studios said themselves, the kea to building video games is knowing how to efficiently work as a team. these XNA vids shouldn't be titled as My, but as our.

just a bit of advice ^_^ from the looks of it, this game is going to take allot of work to make.

  • Read the description to the video.

  • Vulkein, read the description to the video.

  • lol

  • i want to learn that too....

  • looks like a game of D&D lol

  • That is so kool im only 14 and could someone tell me a website that can teach me all this stuff (XNA)?

  • xna is an programm....

  • I think i meant learning HOW to program games with C#;)

  • dwarf from milkshape

  • For XNA Game Studios 1.0, what graphics creator should I use? I mean, what do I use to create everything? Also, maybe it's cause I'm on my friend's vista computer, but when I download the visual c# express sp1 (or whatever it's called, but I know sp1's at the end), I try to install it but it says it has an error and the update may not be for any existing software. I need it to install XNA so where do I get Visual C# Express Edition SP1? Is Sp1 only for xp? HELP!

  • how to insert your 3D model and terrain to XNA?

  • I used xna game studio express 1.0 (xna version 2.0 wasn't available back then), and visual c# 2005 express edition sp1. If you have these two it will definitley work.

  • I tried opening it but it said "the project is not supported by this version". I have xna game studio 2.0 and microsoft visual c# express SP1.

  • how do you get the quality of model used in that, im new to modeling and al ive beenable to make is simple flat surface things like maps and crappy stickmen,

  • I didn't make the model. I've only imported into and used it in XNA. The dwarf was made by someone else.

  • what engine are u using?

  • XNA

  • alls i got was a cornflower blue screen

  • That is because you need a graphics card with at least pixel shaders 2.0 and vertex shaders 1.1

  • nvm i got it haha

  • im tryna get the source, but it says there are no such files.'

looks like a decent starter kit

  • Thanks.

  • Also, I am always willing to help if anyone needs help with 3d concepts, minor XNA problems, and pretty much any game programming language I can think up at the moment, except for minor game engines like OGRE...

  • Also, post it. I'm interested in seeing how you did it...

  • Here is the source:

    rapidshare . com / files / 117490578 / BasicEffect . rar . html

Be sure to remove whitespaces from address.

  • XNA is so slow.... Haha... My game engine will be so much ownage compared to yours.

  • dude....you didnt make the model your playing with...someone else did...and Im not saying that I made it....I didnt, try to do something nevermade until now

  • Uh i have yet to take one class or read over a tutorial in modelling, and i can even do better than that model. No doubt it will take me a while to make but it really isn't difficult.

  • thx, but I'm done with it :)

got an A+ and I'm now interested in other fields of computer science.

Anyway, if someone is interested I'll upload the project somewhere, if someone finds itself in need of a school/college 3D project :))

  • Good job !!

Good luck with your game !

  • amazing for a first attempt. I've been struggling to get my head around programming in 3D for a while now.(Vectors and matrices still confuse me) :(

    I think I'll stick with 2D.

  • Besides that 2D games are generally better, I also want to get into 3D sometime. Not much, my heart belongs to 2D games, but some experience wouldn't be bad.

  • Nice job!!

how do you animate your model in XNA??

can I import the animation from maya? or should I write the whole thing?

    5 stars

  • the game doesnt looks very hard XD LOL just joking looks amazing for a first attempt, cool

  • good, see my vid

  • dude that is fucking awesome

  • whats the name of the song?

  • godsmack - sick of life
