here's what i don't understand. to go from Boston to DC on this thing takes 7 hours. You can drive the same trip in 7 hours. what on earth is so high speed about this thing?
There are some very slow parts. The system isn't meant for riding the whole route. New York to DC only takes 2 hours and 52 OR 54 minutes. Driving takes over 3 hours.
If so, I will be traveling as well from Providence, RI to Philadelphia, most likely on train 2165 (12:50 out of PVD, 2:18 out of NHV, 5:07 at PHL) on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
ya go for the acela. im goin to stamford and baltimore from Boston. Its basiclly a hop on and go train. provides good service too. just all around good train. litle more expensive but its worth it.
Hey, was it slow and bumpy from Philly to Wilimington? Was the train on time? Did you think it saved you about 20 mins or so compared to the regular train?
I google'd it. I entered Boston MA to Washington DC. This is what it told me:
441 mi about 6 hours 56 mins.
If you're going 65 the whole way, that's about right. So, do you take side streets when driving by car from Boston to DC?

According to Mapquest, it takes 8 hours and 6 minutes to drive the 442.03 mile journey, which is taken mostly on I-95.

So, since it took about an hour and 40 minutes, I traveled at an average speed of 79.8 mph. Not bad :)

maza95 3 years ago
It depends on the day and the time of day, but they're usually somewhere between $106 and $152. The lowest one I saw on the website was $91.

The train actually FLIES between Philly and Wilmington. It definitely felt like it saved a lot of time also.
