does anyone know if you can remove a floyd rose floating bridge and replace it with a kahler trem? even with the large cavity leftover when you remove the floating bridge?
To date my best trems are floating versions of the classic strat tremolo. In fact if you check out the very first floyd roses, that's all they really were and incorporated the strat trem type saddles. Keep the pivot, alter the saddles a bit and create a new mounting system IMO.
I think the Kahler pivot system is certainly superior though, just dislike all the mass and mounting methodology.
floyd rose scratch body changing strings 2 posts drilled .gapeing hole for three long springs integrity of body butchered tone loss of mass from hole . overveiw kahler rules
fuck floyd rose i dnt mind the original but your very limited when it comes to a floyd they are ridclously expensive and all of their products are nitemare and absoulte shitarse maintenace hell
kahler on the other hand is way better smoother feel you can turn it into fixed bridge!!!! and do so much else why buy guitar with floyd when you have the mighty kahler
I'm sick of my Floyd, pain in the ass to setup. Took me two days and 3 string sets to tune down to D. I wanna try a Kahler but I'm worried about tuning stability does it hold tune very well or does it go out with bends.
would kerry king, jeff hanneman, guy marchais, jerry cantrel, eric hoffman&brian hoffman... use kahler tremolos of they were causing tune troubles?? HELL NO!!!!!
Karl Logan uses Kahler`s too. He says Kahlers are the only serious true tremolo system out there. And I think the same way. It`s the best tremolo you can get there.
Guys, I am seriously considering a kahler tremolo but the tuning stability issues are scaring me. I do use a lot of bends in my playing and I am wondering what to do. I have a guitar that is equipped with locking tuners. Will they help in maitaining tuning stability of should I just equip my neck with a floyd rose nut?
can a kahler get the same sounds as a floyd rose, i'm wondering because i want to get a good tremolo and am hovering between kahler and floyd rose, PLEASE HELP!! :-)
@CmajAmin88 I actually find Floyds very simple to use. I have used them with out any problems. I actually find them much more simpler to change strings than a normal bridge.
edge 3 is the cheapest piece of shit tremolo in the world. The metal sucks on it and it can break quite easily. The only good ibanez trems are the Edge Pro, Zero, or the Edge Zero.
@Grafkid hey, do you know how i can replace mine, can i put a kahler in without fucking with my studs, i have an edge 3, why they put them in xiphos 700 is beyond me, but do you know what i can do?
@Grafkid i have an rg350dx and it has never broken, it stays in tune i only have to tune it once a month and aslong as you take care of it. it can be wailed on and it will stay in tune. its just a matter of how much you take care of your guitar.
Kahler can do anything a Floyd can do, except for the flutter effect. You won't get hat because the Kahler is smoother as a result of operating on a cam. But I think Kahlers have more range than a Floyd in terms of raising or lowering pitch
Kahlers have less range on the pull up actually and they tend to choke sustain during that because of the pivot point. They are superior for subtle vibrato imo however, but the tuning stability is definitely less due to the rolling of the string since they kahler doenst lock at the bridge.
i disagree, floyd rose's go down far enough that the pickups don't output sound anymore, why would you want it to go lower than flooppy unvibrating strings low? and as taft said. they don't go as high. i think it's a matter of personal choice. none are better than the other.
the real master of the trem is the steinberger transtrem!
Go with a Kahler 2200k, It doesn't cut all the way through your guitar body so you keep more wood/tone than a Floyd. Just don't use strings with the fabric wrapping at the end, Because I had a Gibson Explorer with that system and used wrapped strings and the G string ALWAYS broke in divebombs.
depends on your style, man. However, if tuning is your priority stick with Floyd. After bending a string, Kahler won't tune right after that. Floyd will if set up properly!
Kahler on the other hand, in spite of its limitations, has a very smooth action that's hard to obtain with Floyd...
Why do you hate them, you haven't put in a reason in your post as to WHY you hate them. Unless you're an irrational dickhead you have a reason so what is it?
I have a Kahler trem on my self made Explorer. I needed the whammy bar action for my band and it was much easier to install and set up than a Floyd Rose.
it is a great tremolo dont get me wrong..but it will go out of tune if you bend a string..i mean string bending is one of the most famous techniques used in rock and roll, and will jazz players be needing a tremolo?..hmmm
I need some help I'm most likely going to get a B.C. Rich Kerry King V soon it comes with the Kahler and I need to know ahead of time does the kahler double lock the strings like the floyd rose does?
Kahler is actually a single-locking system. The lock is at the nut, and then the strings anchor on hooks (sort of like a Bigsby, but better), and travel over rollers. It works great, but huge string bends go outta tune and you'll have to do a bit of a dive to bring it back to pitch.
I love them, thoughm Really smooth feel compared to the Floyd
Hi all, i recently bought a guitar with a kahler tremolo installed. I believe the kahler tremolo series on my guitar is Kahler 2320. Does anyone have idea how to restring on this guitar? Please let me know! Thank you.
someone please help me! i got a guitar with a KAhler on it, I tried to restring it and I completely messed it up! Someone please give me some kind of guide or whatever on how to do it?! Thanks!
This is not the first guy talking about kahler tems who say "unloosen" If you un-loosen something, you are then tightening it!

@thyserialkillaninja no jut the hybrid tremelos eg. 7200 and 7300
geicowithdagheko1 1 year ago
@thyserialkillaninja the hybrid models can, which are the 7200 (for stud mounted and curved tops like on a gibson LP) and 7300 for flat tops.

Agreed: even the cheap steinberger vibratos are good, and the expensive ones are great.
I am starting so suspect, however, that for the money (<$200) Kahler might be the best value out there.

It's even better and works fine in combination with a Floyd locking nut .
You lose some sustain because the Kahler locking nut is placed behind the neck nut but with high gain and distortion you don't notice that.
