this movie looks pretty fun, based on evolution vs. creation, I like the fact that just 2 brothers made the entire thing, called EVOLUTION CREEK, look it up!
ALTHOUGH I'M A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN (Baptist), I no longer believe that the Bible teaches eternal torment or suffering. The Bible teaches eternal punishment, but it's not eternal torment. In my popular Internet article, TRADITIONAL DOCTRINE OF HELL EVOLVED FROM GREEK ROOTS, I explain how and why teaching of eternal torment entered early into Christianity and how Scriptures have been misinterpreted and taken out of context to support that teaching. ~Babu G. SCIENCE SHOWS THAT THE UNIVERSE could not have sustained itself eternally because of entropy (even in an open system). Einstein confirmed that space, matter, and time had a beginning! That beginning had to be supernatural because natural laws have no ability to bring the universe into existence from nothing. The supernatural cannot be proved by science but science points to a supernatural intelligence for the origin and order of the universe ~ HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM (Article)
EINSTEIN CONFIRMED that space and time are just as physical as matter. That's why space and time can be altered by gravity, and space produces particles. Einstein's equations show that the universe couldn’t be eternal. It had a beginning. Einstein believed, because of science, in the existence of God behind the origin and order of the universe. He didn't believe in a personal God like Christians do, but he did believe science pointed to the existence of an all powerful and intelligent Creator
NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Only evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.), but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). How did species survive if their vital tissues, organs, reproductive systems were still evolving? Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic and biological similarities between species.
APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from ape-like creatures anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from four-legged-pawed dog-like creatures. Read Internet article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE.
EXPLAINING HOW AN AIRPLANE WORKS doesn't mean no one made the airplane. Explaining how life or the universe works doesn't mean there was no Maker behind them. Natural laws explain how the order in the universe works, but mere undirected natural laws can't explain the origin of that order. Once you have a complete, living cell then the genetic code/mechanisms exist to direct the formation of more cells, but how did the cell naturally originate when no directing code/mechanisms existed in nature?
NATURAL SELECTION IS NO BLIND WATCHMAKER because it can only "select" traits, not produce them. If a variation survives, that's called being "selected." Natural selection operates only once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't have been involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. It couldn't wait ("survive") millions of years for chance to complete it and then make it alive! great that we are still more or less free to discuss these issues!! Check out our new sci fi movie based on evolution vs. creation, search for Evolution Creek
we are not evolving we are creating new stuffs and it proofs there is no evolution but creation you just cant go to stone and say hi stone i want you to evolve a house for me you have to build and im with creationism not for religious point of view but for the fact that nothing is gonna change its own
Hear what God of Israel YAHUSHUA-YAHUWAH (Son and Father are ONE) saying to our generation by His chosen prophets: Trumpetcallofgodonline. com ; Letter called "Purify Your Faith, and Come to the Father as It is Written": EXCERPT: "Only in the Bible and through these very Letters, of which I have given to My prophet of the end of this age, shall you find Him and know Him."

@Mogley52 Did you know anything about any of the 1000s of gods when you are born? It is taught to you by your family and location in the world. We are all born atheists, and i am not trying to change your mind on your god. I have friends that think god put evo. in place, so you can believe and know evolution. Science is only a tool we use to make sense of the natural world. I regret i did not pay more attention back then. I don't like lies, in fact i will not accept them anymore.

THE SCIENTIFIC CASE AGAINST ATHEISM: Please read this Internet article of mine published in Russia's English Pravda. It will be a real eye-opener for all who think belief in a Creator is merely subjective blind faith. DAWKINS, HITCHENS, AND HAWKING REFUSE TO DEBATE with creationists who are SCIENTISTS, such as the scientists at The Institute for Creation Research. Dawkins and his friends only debate non-scientist creationists. Read articles by scientists supporting creation at The Institute for Creation Research site. Read analysis from creation scientists about the latest news on fossils, genetics, astronomy, etc. that you won't read in the main stream media. Visit the Institute for Creation Research site.
WHAT IS SCIENCE? Science is knowledge based on observation. No one observed the universe coming by chance or by design, by creation or by macro-evolution. These are positions of faith. The issue is which faith science supports. Natural laws explain how an airplane or a cell works, but undirected natural laws cannot bring about either. Once there's a complete cell, the code/mechanisms exist to direct the formation of more cells, but how did the cell originate when there was no directing code.
Great video, however, I do have one small little gripe. At 55:31 you said "irregardless". It hurt my ears a little bit to hear that. Other than that, I found this presentation very interesting and enjoyable.
Wow, I can't believe how many people don't stop and think. Do you feel smart when you tell a creationist that your great grandfather was a monkey? I don't have any monkeys in my family tree. Perhaps you inherited your common sense from apes your ancestors were f*cking? I think that is a far more likely theory than evolution.
Science is getting closer to biblical understanding all the time. Quantum physics is an interesting concept but it sounds a lot like predetermination and free will both are true but seem to conflict. All things may be possible but not all things are practical.
"The scientific method cannot be used to prove events which occurred outside of human observation. No one observed the origin of the universe by either chance or design (so neither can be proved by science), but scientific evidence via mathematical probability can be used to support either a chance or design origins for the universe" (From the article HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM).
@op6141 That doesn't really have anything to do with Evolution. Evolution applies to living organisms and how they change. What you're referencing is what's known as abiogenesis which is a completely different scientific theory. Potholer54 made a good video explaining the current understanding of the origin of life (abiogenesis).
You can find it at watch?v=v8nYTJf62sE The video is called "The Origin of Life Made Easy"
I learned evolution in school. I also went to a christian school. Science is better. Delusions of same magical power that will grant me what I deserve is depresing.
I just watched the whole video.. wow.. fantastic! Ever thought of splitting it in some slices and loading it up (5 min videos with titles of the topic) as appetizer for the whole video? Because maybe people are more interested in seen the whole video through this! Keep up the good work! :-)
@joergus Thanks, I'm glad you liked that! When we first started posting clips on YouTube, we did indeed cut them up into shorter segments--but then people commented that they wanted them all together. Just can't win! :) But I know what you mean... it's not a bad idea to have topical clips as appetizers.
@joergus Well, the most direct way to support us is to join (ncse dot com slash membership), which is cheap and puts you in our database of people we can call on to help with local anti-evolution issues. we rely on our members to speak in their communities when anti-evolution flares up. :)
@NatCen4ScienceEd Homochirality destroys abiogenesis! naturalistic origins are chemically and mathematically impossible! All amino acids in proteins are 'LEFT-handed', while all sugars in DNA and RNA, and in the metabolic pathways, are 'RIGHT-handed'.Chirality!
A 50/50 mixture of left- and right-handed forms is called a racemate or racemic mixture!!. Which life can't use!!
It seems the "three pillars of creationism" are also present in the evolutionists' movement against creationism.
1. Crisis: Not all scientists or state legislatures believe in evolutionary principals. Isn't evolution in crisis, too?
2. Incompatibility: The disregard for religious principals in this presentation indicates that evolutionists don't see religious and scientific beliefs as compatible either.
3. Fairness: Evolutionists want a fair opportunity to teach the theory in schools, right?
@dgumbrecht Thanks! I'm sorry to say the audio went on the fritz during the question period (you can kind of hear it shorting out toward the end of my talk), so we were left with an hour of footage with no audio. It is too bad, as there were some good questions. :|
So sad that we have to ague against such pathetic ideas, really sad. The fact that some peole have not advanced beyond religion and ignored so many discoveries is depressing.
Thanks for this video and especially for the update about the newer tricks of ID aka Creatonism. It isn't such a big thing where I live but it's always good to know what's going on around the globe.
A decisive blow to creation "science"! New evidence collected in Hadar, Etheopia demonstrates that 3.2 million year old Astralopithecines ostensibly walked upright, & are more human-like than ever before believed. It seems a continued belief in creationism is becoming, not only embarrassing, but effectively an unsustainable practice. The world watches as religion limps inexorably toward its rightful place - our past.
How can you still believe god created this all for you, when there are 54 earth like planets within our area. In order to have an earth like planet you have to have life on it to sustain its current state. In other words when life dies the planet will no longer be an earth like planet. This could be what happened to mars.
and heres science in a nutshell for me..imagine a virus.i have no question science wud hand over the cure to ne 1 and all...not even caring bout background,religion and so fourth..now wat if christians or muslims had the cure...wud they hand it over quite so easy? im not sure;(
i luv science..nuf said..but it does really scare me the fact that ppl are really trying to push this to schools.:( i wonder if all the creasionists if they contracted summat only science cud cure..wud they go to a doctor or wud they go to church? to me u cant have it both ways..they attack science to its very core but must forget they are using a keyboard looking at a monitor whilst using the internet..i have noticed there is a lot of lawyers involved..is this just spotting a gap in the market
People, you can refer to as many historical figures you want to who committed great and noble acts in the name "insert deity here," but regardless of how great their faith was, faith does not equal fact. What would you think of someone who did a great deed, and claimed that it was their faith in Frodo Baggins that gave them strength? Should we now believe that Frodo actually exists? What matters is how someone acts, and not what they claim to believe in.
@Teensyfaye A lot of people act in ways that are contradictory to their belief system. For example, even those who believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible don't go killing their children for talking back to them, nor do they kill people who work on Sunday. You also don't see Christians giving all of their possessions to the poor or abandoning their family as Jesus commanded. These actions are indefensible, not to mention insane. Continued...
@Teensyfaye ...Anyway, what ultimately matters in the end is whether or not your actions are causing happiness or suffereing, regardless of what you believe. Therefore, actions are more important than belief.
We are in agreement: Faith without actions is dead. If we don't act in a way that shows the world that our faith is important and MEANS something then we are hypocrites. Our faith and beliefs should affect how we "do life" here on this earth.
Jesus challenged people to let go of their earthly possessions lest they become an idol-there is nothing inherently wrong with having things, but if they become a substitution for what's really important then that is a problem. Continued...
@Teensyfaye The final thing I'll say here is that most atheists/agnostics including myself will freely agree that there are some good philosophical ideas in the Bible. There are also some really bad philosophical ideas in the Bible (even Jesus has questionable moments Ephesians 6:5 for example) It's also the supernatural aspects that we find problematic, as there is no evidence to support them even after thousands of years of searching.
I encourage you to read Ephesians 6:5-9 for the full context of Jesus' statement regarding obedience to masters. As far as believing the supernatural aspects, they do require faith and trust that supernatural (outside of nature) God can perform miracles. I used to be an atheist as well so I know what it's like to want hard facts for everything. Sometimes, though, we have to admit that even if there were hard facts, we would ignore them because we just don't WANT to believe them.
Thank you for this conversation, by the way. I think it's great that we can respectfully disagree. I think we both want to convince each other that we're right, but that's OK. :)
@Teensyfaye It is certainly nice to have a respectful conversation for once.
I have read the Bible. In fact it is the most highlighted book I have; even more so than my college text books! My disbelief in the Biblical God is largely due to reading the Bible. I have also done a great deal of studying on the subject of comparative mythology, and through that, it is easy to see that the story of Jesus is not entirely original. The Bible is full of stories that parallel earlier mythologies.
@Teensyfaye I also just want to say that before reading the Bible, I really did want to believe in all of it. But the more I read, the more I realized that I would have to make up strange excuses and rationalizations in order to defend these beliefs. It is really important to me to know whether or not my beliefs are true, and the only way to do this is to study everything in an honest way. Needless to say, it's been a very long and grueling process!
@Teensyfaye In the end, I have no intention of de-converting you from your beliefs. It's up to you to decide what you believe in. All I'm suggesting is that if you are going to put all your faith in a specific religion, it's a good idea to research to see if those beliefs are true. It doesn't matter whether you still believe, or disbelieve in the end. At least you will have arrived to your conclusion honestly. Peace!
In regard to your other statements, I haven't found the verses you've mentioned about killing disobedient children, killing people who work on the Sabbath or abandoning your family. Can you let me know where you found those? I would like to read them for myself and see if maybe there's a misinterpretation happening.
I admire your sense of justice and wanting to DO what's right. It's good to see someone who cares about taking action and who cares about the motive too.
@Teensyfaye The verses I am referring to are Deuteronomy 21:18-21 (regarding disobedient children), Exodus 31:15 (working on the sabbath), and Luke 14:26-33 (abandoning family to follow Jesus). Many Christians disregard the Old Testament, and claim that the words of Jesus override what what written before. However, if you read Matthew 5:17, you will see that Jesus appears to be fine with OT laws. Cont...
Yes, those verses are troublesome because it sounds like God is condoning murdering people for breaking his law. However, if you keep reading what Jesus says in Matthew 5:20, "For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven." these laws were meant to show the IMPOSSIBILITY of being righteous on ones own by following a law that, simply put, demands PERFECTION.
When Jesus says he didn't come to abolish the law, but to FULFILL it, he means that he is the only one able to keep 100% of God's law. So, if you want to try to keep God's law 100%, knowing that if you break A law, you have broken THE law, then you can try to do that. But you will fail. If instead you want Jesus to be your advocate, believe in who he says he is and you will be counted righteous because of him, not because of your law-keeping abilities (which are lacking).
@Teensyfaye The other problem with disregarding the OT in favor of the NT is that it implies that God was wrong, for if God were a perfect being, why not just clearly state the laws from the very beginning and avoid all the confusion? If I were an all-powerful being that's what I would do.
It's important to read the Bible from start to finish and not ignore the uncomfortable parts. That's what honest belief is all about. Cont...
I am a Christian and I will admit that I have not yet read the bible start to finish (I am going to guess that you haven't either). I will say, however, that I am not one of those who dismisses the Old Testament. What is hidden in the Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament. Without it, the New Testament does not make sense. I think most true followers of Christ (not religious people, but people who know Christ, and there is a difference) would agree with me.
The Bible advocates murder, genocide, rape, child abuse, human and animal sacrifice, misogynism, slavery, homophobia and racism...... and the fact that you base your worldview on such a text sickens me.
It's simple people..If you believe you are talking to an invisible entity, and you believe that the entity is answering you, then YOU'RE SCHITZOPHRENIC !!!! Look it up...You're F#$%ing nuts ! Please STOP polluting the minds of our "innocent" children with all this brain rot ! This stupidity is criminal in my mind !! Be a "Free Thinker" and question EVERYTHING !! You're blatant stupidity is holding back the future advacement of mankind..
@SuperScram1 Yeah, so Martin Luther King and Gandhi were schizophrenic. I guess Atheists know how to diagnose us Christians a mental illness when you can't even spell the word yourself. Go take your self-superiority to your pseudo-"intellectual circles" and leave shaping morality to people who are willing to get their hands dirty.
MLK(the night before he died): "Longevity has its place. Like anyone, I would like to live a long life. However, it doesn't matter with me now, I have been to the mountaintop."
Gandhi(a week before he died to a servant of his house): "I tell you, if I don't die within , then everything I would have said would have been a lie."
"Did they actually SEE God?" No, but we see God in them. They were God-like. Men who lived their life on a path of selflessness. Look no further than them.
@NKA23 They predicted their own death, explain that. And they did believe in God. Isn't it worth scientific study to see a correlation between the two?
I imagine God observing creationists and saying "Damn it...I designed life to evolve...why don´t they get it. All the proofs are there, why are my followers so dumb?"
@NKA23 and what God would that be? There have been thousands of different God's throughout our history, all contradicting each other in details, purpose, characteristics, etc. So which God do you think 'designed' life to evolve? Where is your proof and why would you even come to this conclusion? Do you believe in the Flying Spaghetti monster? I always say Christians that say they believe in evolution and Christianity either don't understand evolution or don't' understand Christianity.
Man, I don´t believe in any gods, ghosts, angels, demons or any other "supernatural beings".
I just said that IF any of´em "designed" life, he/she/it "designed" life to evolve, because it always did, does and if it is to survive always will do.
just pointing out human cloning has been done, been to long ago to remember the show but it was on one of discovery's networks. but a cult member ended up cloning herself and was given the death sentence in 7 different countries, life sentence in many others, along with major public outcry, she was in exile/hiding, supported by the cult last i heard.
What I find most interesting about the whole Intelligent Design deception is how blatantly Christian it is, despite the creationists' attempt to make it look otherwise. It's all part of their agenda to shove their religious beliefs down everyone's throats, and they scream "oppression" if anyone tries to block them. Why not discuss non-Christian creation myths?
I enjoyed this presentation. I find it easy to get wound up by these religious nutjobs, so it's good to see others are a bit more level headed than me! xD
All this talk against the Discovery Institute, but you do realize that we need the Discovery Institute? Religion is being threatened by science. We need moral people in society, and religion is the best way to do it.
Do you really think if everyone had the education of a college professor then they'd be working as janitors or picking up your garbage? Even if you don't believe in God, God still resides in the hearts to inspire those lowly people. So you don't know what you're talking about.
@Water4Jeremiah You neither need religion to be moral nor to inspire people. The reality of science is far more inspiring and can lead people to an ethical life. People just want the security to be able to raise a family, what the Discovery Institute wants is to do the bidding of corporations to secure huge profits and destroy our society via ignorance. And trust me, if they are willing to undermine the education of children, they are willing to shed others' blood for it. What's moral in that?
Man, nobody says that god does not exist, it´s just a fact that IF he exists and IF he designed life, he designed it to evolve, because we can PROVE that life evolves.
Maybe there is/are higher being/s but certainly they are NOT what the Bible tells us.
@OJReadMore I don't know what a Hudson is? And no one is trying to kill you. Jared Lee Loughner was insane and that has nothing to do with the Discovery Institute.
@Water4Jeremiah "...as non-existant as your proof that God does not exist!!!!"
It's not for us to DISprove him. The burden is on the believers to provide evidence and proof that he DOES exist. There's no evidence AGAINST unicorns, leprechauns, pixies, fairies, and Mother Goose, so does that mean they exist? It's simply by shear lack of evidence that no one believes they do. So the only thing I can say here to attest that God doesn't exist is the fact that there's no proof that he DOES.
@Water4Jeremiah We don't really need religion for our morals. There are immoral religious people and moral non-religious people and just out of curiosity, who are you calling lowly people?
If a religion is true, it can never be threatened by science. However, science IS a threat to superstition.
There is no evidence whatsoever that religion makes a society more moral. The U.S. is more religious than Western Europe, and yet it has far higher rates of murder, rape, and theft, in addition to more abortion and teen pregnancy.
BTW, you don't have to be a college professor in order to understand the basics of evolutionary biology. You just need a disciplined mind.
@CodaCola So you're saying going to church on Sunday, working in charities, and handling the institutions of marriages and deaths is something secular people forefront as their cause? Or is it that religion is just the only game in town that offers selflessness and you don't want to admit it? Jesus (Christian), MLK (Christian), Gandhi (Hindu) - all those people HISTORICALLY seeked God to become enlightened and inspired. You're telling me they were just tricking themselves? They sought God first.
@Water4Jeremiah - That's an interesting point... but by your logic in theism, everyone seeking a god can achieve these forms of enlightenment. You do not believe it has anything to do the psyche and initial behavior of the individual. You firmly believe that the only factor in these men's lives to be virtuious was "god"? That is a horrible shame compared to the billions that are believers but are far worse than most atheists all over the world.
@besidemymind Just an interesting point that should be swept under the rug? Even Gandhi said that his ways were "as old as the mountains". Tell me, to an Atheist don't you lose something when you reject the notion of faith as evil? Well when you Atheists come out with someone that is as selfless as Martin Luther King or Gandhi or the many other people OF FAITH who brought real social change and inspired moral conscientiousness, you can talk to Christians or religious people about "virtue".
@besidemymind And your inability to respond to my point must prove I'm right? I guess you'd like nothing better than to re-write history and say that all the people of great social change were inspired SOLELY by God. Maybe you're just afraid that people of faith who may not be able to cross every 't' and dot every 'i' can actually tell the difference between right and wrong better than you.
@TheilluminatiOrder "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the hearts." Proverbs 21:2. I take that to mean that everyone believes that their truth is the only one, and Atheists are just as guilty of this as much as fundamentalist Christians. All I am saying is that humble Christians are more apt to learning about the world around them than Atheists who are assured of their stance that there is no benefit in belief in a God and mock it. Your secret intentions matter.
@Water4Jeremiah Interesting statement. Although, I would like to ask you this, who is more humble. The man who believes that he knows the creator of the universe and that all knowledge was written in a 2000 year old book. Or the man who does not believe that there is any evidence for a creator and that humanity is on a journey that we have not left the sight of the starting point yet? Who is more open to new knowledge, the man with a book or the man with a microscope?
Actually no Jesus wasn't a Jew, as Judaism didn't even exist when he was alive, only the religion of the Israelites did. There was a schism in that Jesus wanted the doctrine to be of God, but the Pharisees who wrote the Babylonian Talmud wanted to base their faith upon this oral law; the oral law became the basis of what call today "Judaism" which didn't exist until the Rabbinic councils later on. So in fact Jesus was history's biggest enemy AGAINST Judaism.
He was the son of God and at the same kind God become human, right?
Sooo, God is the God of the Israelites, right?
He called them his "chosen people".
So you are able to beLIEve at the same time that God was Jesus AND God AND the lord of the Israelites AND the biggest enemy agains Judaism, therefore the enemy of Israel, right?
And God loves everyone of us as well....
See, that´s what I can´t get into my noggin, all these contradictions....
Ray Comfort's accent is New Zealand-erish, not Australian! This is important because Australians evolved from New Zealanders and are clearly the more advanced species. An Australian would be deeply offended by this mistake. Ken Ham is a transitional fossil.
"evolution is not incompatible with faith" except that it proves that the bible is not 100% true. Therefore one can question the truth of each statement made in the bible. If the bible was reduced to only what is demonstrably true, it would have to be called "the good pamphlet".
Very nice speech. Too bad it doesn't solve the root of the problem. I guess us proud intellectuals can feel superior to those silly religious people, but in the end this feel-good gabbing changes absolutely nothing.
If they want to change something, then use your efforts making fun of religious people to instead outlaw the practice of religion. Until that day happens, you'll always be spinning your wheels.
@LucasI3434 Obliviously science would explain to you why a women would dry hump a male to show she's the dominate one! Now such up and make me a sandwich! And stop logging into different accounts to push the thread!
@NatCen4ScienceEd I don't think the work will be done in either ours or our children's life times. Not until the religious leaders finally admit that they keep it going for pure profit and control over the ignorant and weak will it end.
Great video! Lately, I've been contemplating a career change into secondary education with a biology specialty. When I see things such as this, I am reminded of the amazing teachers I was fortunate enough to have and hope to someday instill in the next generation the passion for science and skeptical inquiry that has enriched my own life so much.

@NatCen4ScienceEd That's a mighty big Q. For starters, pick up a copy of "Not In Our Classrooms"....as well as "Biology - Understanding Life" and "Defending Evolutioin", both by Alters and Alters. Also good is this periodical: "Evolution: Education and Outreach"
Even if intelligent design had any factual foundation, which it doesn't, how does it prove that the intelligent designer was the christian God? Where is the correlation between the two?
@barnzee1 There is no correlation between ID and a Christian god. All we know is the complexity of nature has shown us that it didn't happen by chance,or by natural processes alone. Abrupt transformations don't explain it, a big bang doesn't explain the universes etc. The complexity and the ordered chaos is in question. ID is a direct challenge to Darwinism. ID better explains the presence of new information, new traits, and more complex traits in living systems
@purpleorchid76 The issue is when you look at scientific progression there truly is an issue with distinction between real and estimated progress in terms of the "truthlikeness" measures. A similar distinction can be made in connection with measures of empirical success. Real progress could be defined by the latter, while the former gives us an estimate of progress. ID can compare the features seen in living systems with those in non-living systems that are known to be designed. Evo can't.

Mogley52 2 weeks ago
NATURAL SELECTION IS NO BLIND WATCHMAKER because it can only "select" traits, not produce them. If a variation survives, that's called being "selected." Natural selection operates only once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't have been involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. It couldn't wait ("survive") millions of years for chance to complete it and then make it alive!

A decisive blow to creation "science"! New evidence collected in Hadar, Etheopia demonstrates that 3.2 million year old Astralopithecines ostensibly walked upright, & are more human-like than ever before believed. It seems a continued belief in creationism is becoming, not only embarrassing, but effectively an unsustainable practice. The world watches as religion limps inexorably toward its rightful place - our past.

Religion Is The Root of All Evil..........
febstube 1 year ago
People, you can refer to as many historical figures you want to who committed great and noble acts in the name "insert deity here," but regardless of how great their faith was, faith does not equal fact. What would you think of someone who did a great deed, and claimed that it was their faith in Frodo Baggins that gave them strength? Should we now believe that Frodo actually exists? What matters is how someone acts, and not what they claim to believe in.
daschwarjazz 1 year ago
@daschwarjazz
Often what we claim to believe in flavors and inspires our actions. So, I have to disagree with your last sentence.
Teensyfaye 1 year ago
@Teensyfaye A lot of people act in ways that are contradictory to their belief system. For example, even those who believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible don't go killing their children for talking back to them, nor do they kill people who work on Sunday. You also don't see Christians giving all of their possessions to the poor or abandoning their family as Jesus commanded. These actions are indefensible, not to mention insane. Continued...
daschwarjazz 1 year ago
@Teensyfaye ...Anyway, what ultimately matters in the end is whether or not your actions are causing happiness or suffereing, regardless of what you believe. Therefore, actions are more important than belief.
daschwarjazz 1 year ago
@daschwarjazz
Teensyfaye 1 year ago
@Teensyfaye The final thing I'll say here is that most atheists/agnostics including myself will freely agree that there are some good philosophical ideas in the Bible. There are also some really bad philosophical ideas in the Bible (even Jesus has questionable moments Ephesians 6:5 for example) It's also the supernatural aspects that we find problematic, as there is no evidence to support them even after thousands of years of searching.
daschwarjazz 1 year ago
@daschwarjazz
Teensyfaye 1 year ago
@daschwarjazz
Thank you for this conversation, by the way. I think it's great that we can respectfully disagree. I think we both want to convince each other that we're right, but that's OK. :)
Teensyfaye 1 year ago
@Teensyfaye It is certainly nice to have a respectful conversation for once.
I have read the Bible. In fact it is the most highlighted book I have; even more so than my college text books! My disbelief in the Biblical God is largely due to reading the Bible. I have also done a great deal of studying on the subject of comparative mythology, and through that, it is easy to see that the story of Jesus is not entirely original. The Bible is full of stories that parallel earlier mythologies.
daschwarjazz 1 year ago
@Teensyfaye I also just want to say that before reading the Bible, I really did want to believe in all of it. But the more I read, the more I realized that I would have to make up strange excuses and rationalizations in order to defend these beliefs. It is really important to me to know whether or not my beliefs are true, and the only way to do this is to study everything in an honest way. Needless to say, it's been a very long and grueling process!
daschwarjazz 1 year ago
@Teensyfaye In the end, I have no intention of de-converting you from your beliefs. It's up to you to decide what you believe in. All I'm suggesting is that if you are going to put all your faith in a specific religion, it's a good idea to research to see if those beliefs are true. It doesn't matter whether you still believe, or disbelieve in the end. At least you will have arrived to your conclusion honestly. Peace!

In regard to your other statements, I haven't found the verses you've mentioned about killing disobedient children, killing people who work on the Sabbath or abandoning your family.

Cont...
daschwarjazz 1 year ago
@daschwarjazz
Teensyfaye 1 year ago
@daschwarjazz
Teensyfaye 1 year ago
@Teensyfaye The other problem with disregarding the OT in favor of the NT is that it implies that God was wrong, for if God were a perfect being, why not just clearly state the laws from the very beginning and avoid all the confusion? If I were an all-powerful being that's what I would do.
It's important to read the Bible from start to finish and not ignore the uncomfortable parts. That's what honest belief is all about. Cont...
daschwarjazz 1 year ago
@daschwarjazz

Water4Jeremiah 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah You neither need religion to be moral nor to inspire people. The reality of science is far more inspiring and can lead people to an ethical life. People just want the security to be able to raise a family, what the Discovery Institute wants is to do the bidding of corporations to secure huge profits and destroy our society via ignorance. And trust me, if they are willing to undermine the education of children, they are willing to shed others' blood for it. What's moral in that?
OJReadMore 1 year ago
@OJReadMore "the Discovery Institute wants is to do the bidding of corporations to secure huge profits and destroy our society via ignorance"
And your proof of this is as non-existant as your proof that God does not exist!!!!
Water4Jeremiah 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah
Man, nobody says that god does not exist, it´s just a fact that IF he exists and IF he designed life, he designed it to evolve, because we can PROVE that life evolves.
Maybe there is/are higher being/s but certainly they are NOT what the Bible tells us.
NKA23 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah I'd show you proof, but I don't want anyone from Hudson showing up at my door to murder me or my kids via a Jared Lee Loughner-type.
OJReadMore 1 year ago
@OJReadMore I don't know what a Hudson is? And no one is trying to kill you. Jared Lee Loughner was insane and that has nothing to do with the Discovery Institute.
Water4Jeremiah 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah
The people at the Discovery Institute are well intentioned, but they couldn't care less about the integrity of science.
If they would just admit that their beliefs are PHILOSOPHICAL in nature, not scientific, there'd be no problem.

LucasI3434 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah We don't really need religion for our morals. There are immoral religious people and moral non-religious people and just out of curiosity, who are you calling lowly people?
Adhemar05 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah
ClumsyRoot 1 year ago 2
@Water4Jeremiah No, religion is the quickest, easiest way to make yourself THINK you're moral.
And thank you for admitting that the Discovery Institute has strictly religious motives.
CodaCola 1 year ago
@CodaCola So you're saying going to church on Sunday, working in charities, and handling the institutions of marriages and deaths is something secular people forefront as their cause? Or is it that religion is just the only game in town that offers selflessness and you don't want to admit it? Jesus (Christian), MLK (Christian), Gandhi (Hindu) - all those people HISTORICALLY seeked God to become enlightened and inspired. You're telling me they were just tricking themselves? They sought God first.
Water4Jeremiah 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah - That's an interesting point... but by your logic in theism, everyone seeking a god can achieve these forms of enlightenment. You do not believe it has anything to do the psyche and initial behavior of the individual. You firmly believe that the only factor in these men's lives to be virtuious was "god"? That is a horrible shame compared to the billions that are believers but are far worse than most atheists all over the world.
besidemymind 1 year ago
@besidemymind Just an interesting point that should be swept under the rug? Even Gandhi said that his ways were "as old as the mountains". Tell me, to an Atheist don't you lose something when you reject the notion of faith as evil? Well when you Atheists come out with someone that is as selfless as Martin Luther King or Gandhi or the many other people OF FAITH who brought real social change and inspired moral conscientiousness, you can talk to Christians or religious people about "virtue".
Water4Jeremiah 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah - Way to dodge the question!
besidemymind 1 year ago
@besidemymind And your inability to respond to my point must prove I'm right? I guess you'd like nothing better than to re-write history and say that all the people of great social change were inspired SOLELY by God. Maybe you're just afraid that people of faith who may not be able to cross every 't' and dot every 'i' can actually tell the difference between right and wrong better than you.
Water4Jeremiah 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah Arguing on youtube comments is futile. The truth will win through in the end, as long as people are all seeking it.
TheilluminatiOrder 1 year ago
@TheilluminatiOrder "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the hearts." Proverbs 21:2. I take that to mean that everyone believes that their truth is the only one, and Atheists are just as guilty of this as much as fundamentalist Christians. All I am saying is that humble Christians are more apt to learning about the world around them than Atheists who are assured of their stance that there is no benefit in belief in a God and mock it. Your secret intentions matter.
Water4Jeremiah 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah Interesting statement. Although, I would like to ask you this, who is more humble. The man who believes that he knows the creator of the universe and that all knowledge was written in a 2000 year old book. Or the man who does not believe that there is any evidence for a creator and that humanity is on a journey that we have not left the sight of the starting point yet? Who is more open to new knowledge, the man with a book or the man with a microscope?
TheilluminatiOrder 1 year ago
@Water4Jeremiah
Jesus was a jew not a christian, the followers of Jesus are called "christian", Jesus wasn´t a follower of himself.
Well, maybe he was...you know...he was his own father as well and he impregnated his mother before he was born.
A guy like that probably could have been his own follower as well.

So yeah....
OrthodoxDarwinist 10 months ago
@OrthodoxDarwinist

Ironically, there is indeed a dinosaur direct descendant that lives in Ray Comforts native country. A tuatara that is found only in New Zealand.

Any tips for aspiring educators?

Even if intelligent design had any factual foundation, which it doesn't, how does it prove that the intelligent designer was the christian God? Where is the correlation between the two?
barnzee1 1 year ago
@barnzee1 There is no correlation between ID and a Christian god. All we know is the complexity of nature has shown us that it didn't happen by chance,or by natural processes alone. Abrupt transformations don't explain it, a big bang doesn't explain the universes etc. The complexity and the ordered chaos is in question. ID is a direct challenge to Darwinism. ID better explains the presence of new information, new traits, and more complex traits in living systems
purpleorchid76 1 year ago
@purpleorchid76 The issue is when you look at scientific progression there truly is an issue with distinction between real and estimated progress in terms of the "truthlikeness" measures. A similar distinction can be made in connection with measures of empirical success. Real progress could be defined by the latter, while the former gives us an estimate of progress. ID can compare the features seen in living systems with those in non-living systems that are known to be designed. Evo can't.
