  • Do they still have these "Indians" in recent productions? I mean, really, ugga wugga meatball. Why not black kids with overalls and watermelons?

  • I remember watching this as a small child....it's so absurd that I didn't even associate it with native americans at the time haha

  • tiger lily is so beautiful!

  • i had such a crush on sondra lee when i was little.

  • Tige lilies so dumb

  • @saraandlilyofmagic How's that?

  • Ilove frogs dancing

  • I love the leap frog in the dance.

  • I wonder if someone will realease this again on DVD?

  • Tiger Lilly looks like Lady Ga Ga! HA HA! whoever heard of a blonde Indian???? LOL!

  • Ugga wigga wigwam! Great Broadway dancers! And how they moved from side to side, isn't easy to do! Thank you J.M. Barrie, and especially thanks to Mary Martin and the great Cyril Ritchard for his portrayal of Mr. Darling and of Captain Hook. I am glad to have been alive when this was first shown on tv.

  • Lol. white native american lol.. funny,, i'm native myself.. this movie brings back so many memories lol.. gotta luv being a child

  • I still know every dance move and line of this and I haven't seen over 6 years

  • this is my favorite part :)

  • I'm doing this for my play (this part)

  • they remind me of meerkats...

  • Tiger lily is blonde! HAHA! I don't remember that.

  • the indians must have taken some laxatives before dancing

  • LOL LOVE THIS

  • Well I'm an Oklahoman and both sides of my family are Cherokee, but damn people need to stop taking offense to this. This was made 50 years ago before political correctness even existed. When I was a child and I saw this, I didn't think twice about this. All I thought was that they were the good Indians helping Peter Pan fight the mean pirates. This is directed towards children for that reason. If you can't watch without the use of your inner-child, then Peter Pan is not for you.

  • when i was little, i ALWAYS did this dance with the Indians, cuz i wanted to be Tiger Lily! :D

  • @PeterPanDisneyDork Me too! I tried to sing the song as well... and stumbled horribly over it XD

  • I have to say, this version definitely seems more directed towards children. It's got the cuteness factor, matched with funny words and dances. The Cathy Rigby version is definitely directed towards an older audience because they know people love the show and grew up watching it, however if a kid watched the Cathy indian scene they would probably just be like "Oh...cool" and probably remember it less bc it was so complicated.

  • screw CGI, just give me a stage set and some people who can actually act and dance and i'm set

  • this was always my favorite part as a kid

  • I pefer the Cathy Rigby version of this scene. The Indians aren't dumb people who keep bumping into each other shouting Ugga Wugga meatball. The Indains were hunting the boys and dancing and fighting. They were organized and threatning. When I was little I was afraid as the Indains, as it should be. Cuz the boys are runnin from the Indians, but with them acting like this...I don't see what there concern was

  • ugga wugga meatball something snooki would say if she was native american!! lol<3

  • nice

  • Racist as fuck.

  • Not insulting at all. Utterly adorable and celebratory. <3

  • As a native american, I found this enormously entertaining.

I wish we actually did this dance. :D It's brilliant.

  • hahahahahahahahaha sooo thats wer Masterson got the idea for tiger lily's dance =) hahaha (sorry thinking out loud) this dance or more the idea of the dance was borrowed for Chaffey High School's production of Peter Pan back in 2009 as well as 2005 if im not mistaken... as always chaffey's was amazing =) at least we hav something to be proud of other than our campus

  • This film is a large part of my childhood, I watched it all the time, I wanted Neverland to be real, I wanted Peter Pan to be real, and we could fly to Neverland, and never grow up and just play all the time, seemed like a good idea and a lot of fun at the time.

  • ok tiger lily is blond but taht doesnt matter it was fun

  • rofl. I always thought this part was seriously effed up even at five years old. I am Navajo and though I loved this movie, I thought this part was absolute bullshit because I knew we never acted like that at home.

  • k wen yure a 5 or 6 yr old yu dont NOTICE that tiger lily is blonde ok?!?! thus is so kods kno who she is!!! wen yu watch thus yu shud b thinkin of the fun memories!!!! LUV THIS DANCE

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I've been looking for it for years; I loved it when I was a child, and am so excited to have finally found it :)

  • I wish more productions would do this dance is stead of just stomping and jumping up and down on the stage... That would rock.

  • the indians were always my favourite part of peter pan . <3

  • Comment removed

  • I can't believe some of you are looking for reality in this production! Peter Pan is played by a woman, the kids are taken care of by a dog, they fly to a far away land of dancing animals. Then they meet Captain Hook, who makes Elton John look downright conservative. He is chased by an alligator with a clock in his stomach. And you are confused about a blonde Indian in all this? Besides, Sonya Lee--who played Tiger Lily --was a dynamite dancer and really cute. Color videotape from 1960!

  • I forgot about the Northern Native American tribe called the Aryans...

  • she doesn't really look like an indian...

  • she ruined the whole thing... she sucks at dancing

  • I think tiger lily has more carisma than peter pan. I love this character.

  • "Ugga-Wugga meatball!" 3:18 Ahahaha :D

  • lol at the indian being white and BLONDE! haha back in the day when political correctness had no place in art, music or tv;)

  • lol i liked the cathy rigby production of this indian scene... the indians costumes are better and so is the choreogaphy... The indians here are jus cute tho lol.

  • Wow. Totally forgot that Tiger Lilly was blonde, which is probably the worst part of this. But the fact that I don't remember makes it seem less important.

  • Fun fact: the girl who played Tiger Lily had a small part in Federico Fellini's film La Dolce Vita. In the party scene at the end, she's the blonde girl who dances out of the room. She was always my favorite character in this version of Peter Pan, it's so funny to see her in something else!

  • @deadzonefan13 I was going to mention the same thing! I had to watch La Dolce Vita for an Italian history class and I knew I recognized her. The scene she's in is certainly interesting! Excellent film.

  • Anyone else reminded of Lori Petty? Especially in Tank Girl?

  • Is it just me or is this rasist? love it anyway

  • @MegaMoviemaker13 I wouldn't say that it's racist. Since Neverland is a euphimism for the imagination, then they're basically what most young boys would imagine an Indian to be. It's a caricature, not to be taken seriously.

  • @MegaMoviemaker13 yeah, i'm not sure about it Not being racist/prejudice, either. :P

  • LOl. The Indians were my favorite part. I never noticed she was blonde.

  • Anyone stop to think that maybe, she was just the best person for this role? And, think, that it's a FAIRYTALE made for, children. I think she's just adorable!

  • TIGER LILLY THE BLOND INDIAN ROCKS!!!

  • Uh an Indian Princess with blound hair Riiiight

  • I'm starting to think Tiger Lily's tribe are just kids like the Lost Boys playing Indian.

  • ugga wugga...meatball??!!

  • @leahann517 What does that even mean?

  • @leahann517 yep ugga wugga meatball haha

  • @leahann517 ugga wugga wiggwam =)

  • @leahann517 well what else do you think the ugga wugga ostrich is supposed to eat?! :)

  • Tiger Lily is awfully...white looking. LOL!

  • She looks a little like Gwen Stefani... just a little

  • Gosh how the memories flooded back :)

  • hmm.. maybe Tiger Lilly was an albino indian?

  • "When on war path~...Ssshh!!!"

  • @JesterNlove And TL is a hypocrite since she starts to sing when she says 'Shush it!'

  • @ShadowDJ94

Ha, totally. But im diggin the cheeky braids.

  • @JesterNlove true.

  • This is a total send up of Indians- note Tiger Lily is the only blond one. It's all a fantasy in a kid's imagination.

Sorry, but anyone who thinks this choreography is advanced, knows nothing of the history of the movie or the Broadway musical. This was at the end of the era of great choreography, not the beginning.

  • I absolutely loved this play growing up. I think Tiger Lily is just adorable. :-) I compare the talent in this to today's plays and as far as I'm concerned, I doubt people of today could have done it better.

  • I cannot believe i stumbled on this, this brings back some of the craziest memories and nostalgia i have ever felt, especially this scene, i had completely forgotten about this, seeing that girl at the very start of this clip brought it all back.

WOW thank you sfuvs for uploading this!

  • I remember watching this when I was a kid and the Indian/Native American number was ALWAYS one of my favorite scenes. Looking back now, the choreography for this number was quite impressive, considering it was the early 1960s. I've seen the new version, and, although that choreography is more advanced and "adult" (in the sense that it's more impressive), this show was meant to be shown primarily to children. I think both the actors and choreographers kept it on an innocemt level deliberately.

  • Little hiawatha is HOT!

  • I wonder what happened to the times where everyone remembered the Indians as a bunch of unholy savages who killed children in front of their parents and ate peoples hearts as a sign of bravery? I mean we brutally screwed them over also, but ours was a formal screwing with documents we made to wrongfully justify ourselves and not a chop off your head and feed it to your family type of screw over.

  • Did they just say "Ugga wugga meatball?"

  • tiger lily is made to stand out from the other indians because she's the princess...but it still seems a little wrong that she is blonde hair fair skin. thats not how she is suppost to look.

  • @wellar6 And Peter Pan is a young boy but played by an adult woman.

  • @OurGangFan i know that. i'm just saying....that tigerlily isnt suppost to look like that. in preformances peter pan is mostly played by girls because of their vocal skills and acting ones. im just saying its wrong to depict tiger lily like that.

  • @OurGangFan i never said i didnt like it either

  • Even though tiger lily is sooo not native american she does a awesome job XD Its just so much fun to watch!

  • Tiger Lily is the whitest Indian I've ever seen in my life. lol

  • Ugg-Ahhh-WuuuG-A-MEATBALL!!!!!

    - I watched this movie ALL the time when I was a little boy. I wore that VHS tape out!

  • "Princess Yellow Hair, is that you?"

    xD

  • I love watching the blondie Tiger Lily!

  • I love how the kid at the end is like "WTF!?"

  • I wonder if I'm the only one who still has this on VHS ...I just watched it two or three days ago XD

  • @schreixliebe I have it on VHS too, love it to this day even as an adult!! ^_^

  • @schreixliebe nope you're not. i have it too. :-)

  • Saw this as a little kid looked for it forever!! THANKS for the upload:)

  • lol a blonde indian! :D

  • OMGUAHSHNESSS!!!!! I USED DANCE WHEN I WAS LITTLE GIRL!!! :D LOL

  • Half my family is native american and my great grandfather was an indian chief so I always thought true ones were tan. Besides I don't think it matters what color native americans are, thats irrelevant. Look at pocohontas, that has tan skinned indians and all the other kids films. No kid would think they're white unless they ONLY watched this and its the culture of the native american that matters the most, not their skin color. I'm white as a ghost and I'm half native american.

  • the indians were my favorite part

  • Alright, let me pose a question.

Whose job is it to teach kids the difference between fantasy and reality?

It's not the job of television.

If you are leaving it up to your television and your movies to teach your kids about life, you have officially failed as a parent. It's YOUR job!

In the end, it is the job of the parents to teach the kids about life. Not the teachers, not the government, and definitely not the media.

  • "When on warpath...SHHHHH!!!" Timeless advice

  • cornballs

  • Screw political correctness. This is Peter Pan. You are supposed to let yourself be a kid when you watch or read Peter Pan. Stop growing up for the remainder of this film. If you already are an adult then ungrow yourself until this is over.

  • @FRYPANTSLOL well said

  • @FRYPANTSLOL Agreed. I say that anybody who can't let their inner child out... is on Hooks team.lol

  • Ahhh..I was looking for this for years lol loved this...I have the vhs but can't find it!

  • It has Jerome Robbins written all over it. Wonderful.

  • Tiger Lily is such a great dancer!!

  • That is the palest, most ineffective hunting party I have ever seen. Tsk.

  • I LOVED the Indian dance as a kid, it was one of my FAVORITE parts of the movie.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 ME TOO and thats what I remember from this the most

  • Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against this show, as I highly enjoyed Peter Pan as a kid, but now that I look at this as a high schooler, I see how children can easily misinterpret Indians as these "strange dancing" people, with a negative connotation. The only reason children playing cowboys and indians view indians this way is because of the entertainment they're exposed to, which tend to portray indians this way. Without such connotations, new generations would not begin with such views.

  • i used to think tiger lily was so hot like when i was between ages 4-8. i had this on vhs and she will always be my true love! haha

  • OMG, Sarah Jessica Parker is Native American!

  • This is so racist that it's just..... wrong... LOL

  • now its time for the indians to sing

  • Now I'm good at critiquing acting, music, and other theatrical attributes, but I've never been all that good at dance critique. But I can tell you right now that this dance was done superiorly. The moves were unique, the rhythm was perfect, they were greatly in unison and on cue, and they did a great job of sticking to the theme

  • tiger lilly is my fav she is my fav part of this movie i used to go ugga ugga wig wam alll the time lol

  • lol got to love how totally un pc those natives are. but come on the guy wrote his story in 1904 so its not going to be very accurate.

  • @Azrael666Azazel This is very true. I can't help but find it funny that Tiger Lily is freakin blonde! XD

  • this has got to be the most racist thing ever

  • @gsgsgstdsss Not racist at all.

  • this has gotta be the best part- I want to learn this dance! Tiger Lilly was the best character in this movie <3

  • lol a bit of micheal jackson moves in there 1:51 :L

    i love peter pan!

  • Does anybody the name of this track and where I can get it? Any help would be appreciated, get back to me :P

  • Can anyone tell me the name of this song and how I can get it? Any help would be much appreciated! ;)

  • @GrubaSnubaShow welll if you looked in a scoree it's called The Indian Dance. but idk where you can find it.

  • I loved this scene! What fun choreography.

  • @ aleigha0707 I used to want to be her when I was little too...It's funny how when we're kids and we see an attractive dominant female on tv, we are like..."I'm her." I heard my Lil cousin do it and I cracked up...lol

  • Oh I forgot Gwen Stefani played Tiger Lily

  • beatnik indians

  • This is a mockery...It makes me cringe... god shoot me now...Where's cathy rigby when you need her

  • sondra dee looks like a much prettier lady gaga

  • listen to princess tigerlilly

    when on warpath........ SHHHHHHH!!!!

  • I did this play for my school play! I loved the indian dance!

  • I used to want to BE Tiger Lily so bad. The headband my mom would mske for me out of construction paper and a feather from our feather duster wasn't quite as cool as her's, but still awesome none the less. And I used to do her dance in front of the TV.

I miss dancing to my favorite songs on TV. This also reminds me of watching Rainbow Bright and singing on my "Star Stage" (a little microphone attached to a few pedals that would play music and stuff) to her rendition of "Twinkle Twinkle":)

  • people take this way to seriously

  • tiger lily really pretty:)

  • Definitely Jerome Robbins.

  • I bet she slept with everybody

  • @HectorJW2007 Miley Virus or Tiger Lily?

  • So basically, Indians are very easily startled? :)

  • "I just want a meatball" is what I always thought Tiger Lily said at that one part haha.

  • :) ahhh, i was a indian a loooong time ago (im 14) :) we dancd or tried to dance like

    this :D

  • this was always one of my favorite parts lol!

  • Tiger Lily played by guest star Gwen Stefani.

  • I love this. I quite like just playing these videos and listening to them while I work. The background noise helps me concentrate. Thanks for uploading these!

  • J.M. Barrie says that Neverland is basically a collection of the fantasies of many children. So these aren't even "real" indians, they're a kid's fantasy of them.

  • Ah, the political incorrectness of childhood~ xDD

  • the indian coreography reminds me a little of nijinsky's coreography from the rite of spring

  • tiger lily has blue shorts... silly!

  • Y'know, even though it is very unlikely that an Indian have blonde hair and fair skin (I'm only guessing), I think this Tiger Lilly is my absolute favorite. She puts a LOT of character into her character.

  • I always wanted to be Tiger Lily when I was a kid and do this dance. But I could never do a cartwheel :(

    Still wanna be her though!!!

  • "When on warpath..... SHHHHH!" hahaha

  • Wow. I did this show a long time ago and forgot how awesome this sequence was. Thanks!

  • The choreography to the is OFF THE CHAIN! VERY NICE!

  • I love the music that plays when the indians dance

  • Love the choreography...All of it is coming back to me now.

  • This is my fav part 2 i used 2 dance when i was little 2 it.. Love this movie soooo much even tho its cheezy as hell. Best Peter Pan ever!!!

  • ahahahaha i guess this is why i thought i was tiger lily when i was little. i forgot she was blonde in this.

  • yeas i loved this part 2!!! god i feel like a kid again!!

  • did she say meatball? lol

  • "Sshhhh!!! Make-um too much noise!!" XD

  • this is the funniest thing ever! I love this stupid play!!!

  • this is one of my FAVORITE parts of this movie growing up. i used to dance along with it when ever i watched it. LMAO.

  • oh come on people, your being rediculous if you think this is racist. it's just a movie and it was the 60s! i was born in 84 and have seen this so many times i know it by heart and used to dance this particular bit with kids in my preschool, yes thats how many of us knew it! it was very popular even then and i dont think it represents real native americans. sheesh

  • @joule1115 So because you like it and because it's from the 60s it can't possibly be racist? Good argument.

  • It might seem racists (and yes, it probably is) But think of it within the mindset of a young child. This is what kids think of when they imagine Native Americans. I know that's what I always thought when we played Cowboys and Indians as a kid. It's just now that we're adults we're more concerned about being "politically correct" and not offending anyone or making social faux paux. And you have to admit that this is a really fun number. (Even if Tiger Lily is a bit caucasian).
