  • $3,990 and "some equipment shown is optional." Mmmm, yes, that very cool high-tech folding rear seat must have been another $3,990.

  • Since when is front-wheel drive a performance feature? LOL This car is a true POS

  • $3990... That's about $8000 in 2011 money!

  • If you have to buy correct YUGO (1988) for 1.200 euro, write me.

Benzin, Manual, Red color, 56 Ks

  • I have never seen a yugo in my life but I saw 2 Ford Granadas and a TC maserati

  • everybody always disses the Yugo, but it is one of the least expensive cars ever. Admittedly it lacked many features people expect in their cars, but on the other hand they were not built altogether that badly, and are reliable.

  • I saw a mint condition (seemingly running) Yugo parked on the side of a street while taking a driver's test in 2000, I couldn't believe it

  • My local Dodge dealer was also the area Yugo peddlar. I sat in a red one, like the commercial, when it was on the showroom floor. I could not believe people were buying these things! It was TERRIBLE! Small, cramped, with a laughable dashboard and just a horrible, dated feel to it. Throw in horrendous driving dynamics (performance my ass) and the worst new car reliablity Consumer Reports ever tested and it is not hard to see why it was a loser! It made the Omni look freaking amazing!!

  • how do you know ! have you owned a hugo or a chinese car if not then shut up !

  • still better than the best china made car today... trust me.

  • The Name means YOU-GO Nowhere ! :D

  • vi seronje kapitalisticke neznate kakav je osecaj da veči caletu ukrades ključeve od jugica i da sa njim ides po zensku

  • The Yugo was the fastest selling car in it's introductory year for only ONE reason.....the poor suckers who bought them kept exchanging them hoping they would get a good one!!!!!!

  • @landyachtfan79 pusi kurac

  • @landyachtfan79 pusi kurac

  • Yugo, the cutting edge of Serbo-Croatian technology ;-). I've got to thank Malcolm Bricklin for one thing - making me laugh! The regular version was funny enough with all the tales of parts falling off and other mishaps but when Yugo introduced a convertible version in '88, I saw a picture of it and I was ROTFLOL!

  • Justin Bieber's dream car!

  • "With performance features like front wheel drive"?

    REALLY?

  • Yugo is the reason why the americans hate the european cars... Fiat, Renault, Citröen, VW, Seat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Opel and many others european car brands "for the masses" were (and still are) 20 years mode advanced than the most technological advanced american car... YUGO was built in the communist Europe, not in the free Europe! and that's why Yugo are so bad

  • @maraujo1984 dont bullshit yugoslavia was free europe

  • @maraujo1984 you have no idea what Yugoslavia was my man , it wasn't your typical communist wasteland like Russia or China were... We were the third strongest military force of Europe, people had a lot of money, regular vacations, Yugoslavs traveled to Italy every weekend just to buy jeans... Al the older people remember that its was AWESOME...

  • @maraujo1984 Ive seen pictures from those days - Italy, France, Germany...people traveled all over... When Tito died - US president, Most world leaders and even famous Hollywood actors were on the funeral... Basically - the land blossomed... But yeah - i know - your media tells you communism is bad and all , and while i don't actually like communism , i must say - it is not bad it was just poorly conducted in countries like Russia or China... In good old Yuga , it couldn't get any better...

  • @maraujo1984 Basically - Yugoslavia was the ONLY country where communism was perfectly conducted... And as for being free in the west - its all a lie , today we all work like horses and everything is falling apart everywhere... because corporate tycoons use every last bit of your energy to get rich, while you get shit and, broken spline and cancer... "Zeitgeist: Moving Forward" documentary says it all - just take a look...

  • @Altegore beware of new age, it's all in the nwo plan :)

  • @EdgeUHF you mean the capitalist nwo or venus project?

  • hmmm $3990 well by the looks of it i would have rather had spent about $2,500.00 more and brought something like a Ford Escort or a Chevy Caverlier before i broguth that piece of shit

  • @daved1974 ..LoL.So true. The only good thing about the Yugo was by the time one bargained the car dealer down the way it's done with most cars, the dealer would OWE you $2,500 for that shitty ass Yugo and you could go buy the Escort with no money out of pocket...:-p

  • I test drove one of these vehicles when I lived in San Diego. It was almost impossible to keep up with the I-5 traffic!

  • Yugo straight to the junkyard, yugo straight to the hospital if you have an accident, yugo straight to the looney bin if you buy one, and yugo straight to hell if you die in it!

  • Yugo straight to the junkyard, yugo straight to the hospital if you have an accident, yugo straight to the looney bin if you buy one, and yugo straight to hell if you die i oe.

  • How do you increase dramatically the sale value of a Yugo? Fill the tank. What do you call a Yugo in a scarpyard? A blessing. How do you make a Yugo accelerate from zero to 60 mph in less than 15 seconds? Push it off a cliff. What was found on the last two pages of every Yugo owner's manual? The bus schedule. What did the parts dealer say when the customer said, "I'll take a set of wiper blades for my Yugo"? "Sounds like a fair trade to me." ...and on an on...

  • They had to sell an '87 Yugo because all the '86 models had broken down.

    June 7, 2011 6:48 pm

  • What i'd like to know is how much did other cheap cars on USA market cost at that time? I mean was there more cars you can buy at this price in the '87?

  • I remember getting a Yugo as a keychain for my Mercedes

  • I once saw one in the early 1990's plodding along I-10 in Louisiana.. It was from Texas, and appeared to be running fine. I thought to myself, "There goes the bravest driver in the world."...

  • With Yugo, you go nowhere...

  • This car was based on the Fiat 127, which was old and dead by 1983. Yugos are all gone now in the UK, I haven't seen one in years, there isn't even any in Ebay, they've all broke down and rusted away.

  • Looks like a Fiat Panda.... performs like a tricycle lol...

  • Where were the optional "plywood" windows that you could install so your neighbors couldn't see you driving it? They never mention that.

  • @pskittle488 That's after the other ones fall off after a few days.

  • yu go ,but the car doesn't

  • If you do the history on the reason these cars were brought to America its be the guy that found them said in an interview he wanted the cheapest crappest cars out there. It was a bust idea in the beginning

  • The car had a rear window defroster, it was used to keep your hands warm while you were pushing it.

  • @jriley1992 lol

  • how is FWD a performance feature?

  • @51dumbdumb I know how bad FWD is from a sporting point of view, but for most consumers it's much better. From better traction in slippery conditions to more interior space and predictable, easy to control handling, it is arguably a more prudent setup for most buyers.

  • @SvenDansk7 Yes sir you are right on that, I just wish these comsumers tried working on these things, Well unless your like me and your only FWD car is an Audi A4 and the engine is still facing the right way. Its the way we are gonna stay now a days, and it make sense, but it also make me a little sad.

  • @51dumbdumb

    In this car, Good question.

  • Crappy cars? I'll tell you what's crappy: 55 Mph speed limit, that's crappy.

Never owned one but have a soft spot for Yugos. They were really nice. I miss the time when cars were simple enough you could repair them by yourself. These were spartan but honest cars, everyone could buy.

  • YUGO, you go but the car doesn't :D

  • Comfortable? you didn't drive them, you wore them! I moved one once and was cramped in even with the seat all the way back (and I'm not all that tall).

  • @RockabillyAutopsy how tall are you? just wondering cuz the car doesn't look that small.

  • @simon1234simon

170cm (5'7"). I don't know how anyone taller managed to drive.

  • @RockabillyAutopsy hmm this was actually my dads first car but he is about 185 now i gotta ask him he fitted in. :D

  • @RockabillyAutopsy i'm 185cm and had no problems with fitting in. but had a lot of other problems with yugo. but in the end i liked it. it's like having a dog and when you return home you find out he ruined your furniture but you laugh about it in the end and still love your dog (if the dog survives first 5 minutes until you calm down :-))

  • id rather drive yugo than nowadays cheap cars.... whoever say yugo is worse than smart etc is just crazy

  • A friend of mine bought a white one brand new in '87. The whole seat tips up to allow passengers to get in/out the back. I also remember the material was like a beach towel.

    I actually thought it was a pretty cool car...when I was 19!

  • What kind of options could you get with a car like this? I remembered those cars back in the day.The company did want them to look like Fiats but to me they looked like a really stripped down 1980's Dodge Omni.

  • Theese cars were based on the Fiat. I think it was the 124 but I may be wrong. In eiter case the cars were a POS

  • you in america are so stupid we in macedonia drive yugo racec and the yugo's are better tuned than some american cars and they sound like a super racing car i want to buy yugo now and tune it and drive it on races

  • @MarePeace

Yeah, but see, you had to IMPROVE on this car. It wasn't worth anything in stock form.

  • $3990? thats crazy

  • @COSANOSTRA2OO8

When you look deeper into the car and see how they were able to get to that price point, $3990 isn't so crazy when you think about it that way.

It proves an oft-cited axiom: you get what you pay for.

  • @COSANOSTRA2OO8 well... the base price was around $4700 including freight, import, and dealer prep charges...

  • Koral 65 the best ;)

  • Yeah, a European car, AN EASTERN EUROPEAN car.

  • @thatmuse76 A southeastern european car, a balkan car ...

  • @thatmuse76 man, go get yourself an atlas and study that shit until your eyes bleed. you are a geographical retard. thank you.

  • @FatasMe

Excuse me, a South Eastern European car, or Central European car. How 'bout a crappy car based on an early 70's Fiat.

  • @thatmuse76 very good. i see you studied.

what about a crappy car based on an early '70 Fiat?

  • I still say the Yugo was probably better than the current "Smart Car" nonsense which is FAR MORE FUGLY.

  • I bought one of those cars back in 98 for 50 bucks...(LMAO)

  • was it any good? LOL what did you do with it?

  • @jakesaintsrow123 It was crap I ended up junking it because it never would run right.
