To all the comments....some good, some bad and some entirely absurd - patience is a virtue worth building upon, and through this - humility and understanding are achieved. The noise is gone thanks to all these attributes!
Ourselves and our property are finally at peace, and even though I do not know who was responsible other than myself and my tenacity, I'm gracious and thankful for their help.
Im surpised you havent sewed for a sound barrying wall... It could be built 10ft tall and you could shrub in front of it with 10-11ft shrubs witch would take down alot of the decibles. But still never the less im sure you were living there first and you really shouldnt have to put up with this shit.
The easyest way to fix your problem is set fire to the store then insurance will buy them all new quieter gear... and maybe they dont have insurance so they will move.
sorrie dude i think something is wrong with there compressor i did that once to a 40 horsepower Copeland remote unit we pulled the water line to the condenser so chill it down to give the compressor comfort
We had a neighbor come in and complain about farm equipment in the neighborhood operating late at night, about hunters shooting their prey, about people having recreational fires, about people riding snowmobiles across "his" ditch... any number of things.
We don't live in the city-we live in the country. So when the neighbors all stood together, we bitch-slapped him and sent him packing. He didn't last too long in the neighborhood.
some of the air conditioners in use at grocery stores are --chilled water air chillers,,,,, maybe thats what has happened there, they might have a clogged drain and the water is just leaking out the side, certainly dont look like a chilled water air chiller,,,,could be just to much water for an over flow pan,
my neighbors arent that bad.... but they still suck! they throw fart bombs at random houses (mainly at my own) and one time threw a bunch of water ballons at my brother. oh, and once they dressed up in creepy bunny suits and kept knocking at our door untill we answered. they yell all night long but their dad is a cop and doesnt really give a crud about it! i feel your pain!
Did you talk to the owner of the store? Sometimes people forget the most direct approach. WHere I live there is a store down the street that had the exact same thing only it was a high pitched squeeeek all night. I just went up to the guy and apparently I wasn't the only bothered neighbor who complained. He eventually put up his own cement wall and insulation to block the sound. I sleep better now.
Our neighbors are nasty too. I've posted videos of damage they've done to my property. We tried talking to them but it's no use. Some people are either oblivious or just don't care. I'm sorry for anyone with bad neighbors now that I have some next door to me.
That sprinkler underneath the condenser....is neccessary depending on, the ambient design condition of the equipment or there could be fans that need to replaced. Most likely it's the ambient, most refrigeration condensers in Canad are designed for a max of 90 F ambient, anything higher, you'll eventually need a sprinkler.
Any machine that isn't maintained well enough will have the tendency to fail, and all outdoor equipment is so designed to weather the elements as long as maintenance is a priority.
@quietnation04 As long as its not undersized a sprinkler is never required on an air cooler condenser. It probably has a motor out or is covered in pollen. Either way lack of maints for sure.
I have this neighbor that cooks this stuff that smells like dirty dypers and then she never opens a window. I need to open all my doors and windows the air out my apartment.
What if you or your tennent happen to slip on that wet pavement ? I smell a lawsuit! Oh that hurts! I think I broke my back! Now give me $100,000 and shut the F***ing water off!
It does bother me. You live in 'some city' U.S.A. and you have rights. Isn't there a health department or a code enforcement agency that can help you?
Have you called the local TV station? They like stupid stories like this because people care and it gets a reaction.
I reside temporarily in Panama City, FL, and yes I have jumped through all the city's hoops including taking the several problems we are still faced with to one of our local TV stations.
It might be of further interest to know that our crusade to bring forth closure began in 2001and still nothing has been accomplished.
@quietnation04 Burn it to the freakin ground, problem solved. Too bad yuo'd never get away with it, buit I'll do it for a nominal fee. Jk, but it would be worth it, trash like that will never learn.

I have a good idea. Go to Iraq and fight with your brothers and you may just find out there are worse things in life. (I support them morally too if you are wondering.) Shame you just can't burn it down when no one is inside but the dripping water may just put out the flame or the burning mosquitoes just might spread it to your home. I really do feel sorry for you though with so much to worry about.
Your so right! There are many more pressing problems in the world than many know, but when laws and codes express the consent of many within a community, then those members of the same community should comply with the wishes of not only those who write and make the laws, but others who live and work within the urban scene. Correct?

Have you talked to them yet?
If not sue them.
If that don't work just pay someone to destroy whatever is causing the problem.

@quietnation04, Florida is notorious for scummy people. Just the name of that town tells you that it's a crime cesspool.
