Assuming that the average distance runner sprints about a 28-30 seconds 200 in a workout, I would have to say that in a race such as this the average 200 would be about a 30-35 seconds. This allows for any extraneous closing speed and the fact that a race is not a workout where you run the distance rest and do it again; it is all continuous.
Since this race was a 3k and not a full 3200 or even two mile it would be safe to assume that just by adding 30 seconds to a 9:16 would be about 9:46 and at the most could be about a 9:50 two mile. That would be an okay time if you were not the best runner out there and an exceptional time if you weren't an athlete. Still, a 9:16 3k is not exactly the best time out there unless of course you run in a crappy state in which that would be considered a good time
Having been a 800m 1600m and 3200m runner through highschool and now a 5k kinda guy id'e say way to go. I took many races the last 200m.If the other runners don't have a kick its a a lack of training. Often i ran a 54sec opening lap in the 1600 just to force people off their usual pace. I must say the 800m 1/2 mile is the most challenging. Running 100% the whole race hurt me far more than a 2 mile race. The 800 was my fav. Don't hate many people don't even have the energy to get off the couch!
Witch runner are you, the bald or hair one, And its so hard running in spokane, Nc is probly ganna win nationals next year, Lc is ganna be good and andre gardner will dom, its pretty insane. I was able to run with kenji beirig last year, he is a gsl legend now. he is also pretty insane
truth is the 3k is i much more complex race to run, and i find more satisfaction out of a longer race than a shorter one. but being a miler myself i dont have much room to talk about that. the point is anyone can run two 58.5 quarters, but not anyone wants to put the training in to run a 9:16 3k
@MrSpeedo1000 tell that to the 800m world record holder, the second faster runner in the mile, the thousands of african 5000 and 10,000 meter runners, and the countless black men who have held the world record in the marathon
I just ran a meet bout 2 hours ago. I had to out sprint someone at the end. I live how when your adrenaline kicks in and you go fast you feel nothing.
the guy in the back usually sprints faster than the guy in the front so u got to know that hes gona do that i usually like to get the jump on him and when he sprints i just gut it out with him
Goes to show how much gas you had left in the tank....if only you spread that out more over the early part of the race and had the challenge to push so hard at the end...what I'm saying is...you can go even faster I bet.
nice run, I love sprinting at the home straight, in the past 3 years that I do T&F I've NEVER lost to someone when we were with each other in the last 200m, even not when I was injured :D
I agree that they had an awful lot of energy for the end of a race, but some runners just have different kick abilities, regardless of their overall speed. Nice video.
everyone is argueing about things that dont have to do with the video. IN THE END it was a decent kick, with a good finish for that runners abilities, but obviously i've seen better. WATCH /watch?v=FmIgGRX39Co ..this is someone i had to race in highschool. Robby has the US half record for HS.. awesome to be in the same race as him in State Meet of champs. this guy has a fucking Kick. cant argue bout that
lol love how you guys are professional runners and know everything. give the kid props for having a good kick to finish at the end and take the win by .002. quit being such haters, this vid isnt yours so quit trying to promote yourselves.
@mrkoolio1000 thanks, yeah you can't talk crap about that time because seriously our cutoff for state was about a 10:10 3200 so that's really good. good job man
didnt race hard enough..this was probably a shit meet too..man the fuck up. i go 50.6 and 1:57..4x4 relay went 3:18. this is weak you should be dying and digging deep as shit at the end..not sprinting this easily
@OsmosisJones0 It was the conference meet and I'd like to see you run a 9:16 3k. I can't do a 1:57, but thats not all that great for someone who calls themselves a mid distance runner. And it wasn't an easy sprint, it was the hardest sprint of my life because i was digging deep, i couldn't here anything and still don't remember lapping that kid at the end. oh and that 9:16 was my lifetime pr at the time so I think that I did run hard enough. about passed out at the end too
@duds24 did i call myself a mid distance runner? nope..sprinter equals me. i just have balls. and this isnt a 9 16..you dont run like that at the end of a 9 16. 10 16 maybe.
@duds249:16 for a 3k is nothing to brag about.. especially when i know runners doing low 8's for a 2 mile. technically all that energy at the end means you could of ran a smarter race and essentially had a better time. also 1:57 is a pretty decent time for a half. i'd say its better then a 9:16 for the 3k .. alot more people are able to do your time then his. which also happens to be my same half time.
@JShowAsian that is a really good time. I have ran faster since, and either way i'm not saying I'm a great runner. I'm just saying that it wasn't some 12 minute 3k where noone was trying and then sprinted at the end. like @TheJangy said, we both ran the fastest we had and had trained and worked hard for that moment. In training, and during the race.
@duds24 Sorry to burst your bubble, but a 1:57 is a lot harder than a 9:16. I definitely don't consider myself to be a "distance" runner at all, but two five minute miles is pretty cake. Two 58.5 quarters? Not so much. Point is, anyone who can run a 1:57 shouldn't have a hard time with a 9:16 3k.
@duds24 You stole the race. It was his. You stole it based on aptitude because you were afraid to win as the result of a strong will over natural ability. I'm sorry, but I can't respect that.
@OsmosisJones0 Bitch shut the fuck up, i'm a runner i know what there going through. They werent sprinting at the end, they were pushing them selves even harder. Your so fuckin dumb.
@TaylorLove0 i like how you're saying you know what they are going through, but the guy who does a 1:57 has no clue? he doesnt know how to run either? your the fucking dumb fuck for stating that
@OsmosisJones0 I know of 8 highschool runners in my city who have broken 1:56 in the 800m And two of them are sophmores!, and one of the sophmores ran a Pr of 1:55, and for te mile well over 20 people have broken 4:30, So once you can do good in Spokane than you can talk but break 1:56 first ok.
the guy in the light blue uniform seemed like he was struggling... then out of nowhere decides to kick it into another gear? why didn't he just do that from the beginning of the last stretch if he had that much energy left?
um, if you can run that fast at the end of a 3k, you musta been walking the other 2950 meters. the most efficient races are even split, or slightly positive (we are told to negative split because it should feel like a negative split in order to keep the same pace, but look at the world records and they are all positive split)
@TobistenicsRUs as the distance gets longer, it becomes more difficult to pace even splits, this is why longer distance runners play it safe and kick at the end. Anything less than 2 miles, however, should be even split if you want to run the minimum time your body can run. if you look at videos of world records being broken at middle distances, most of them are even or slightly positive split
way to much in the tank for both of them. dude in red was caught coasting he shouldve definetly put more distance on him and worked the last lap better.
RYAN WILSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) The little man in the red who was passed. He was a freshman at the time. He just graduated from RHS this year. Ryan Wilson + Oliver Gunther = Trenton kershner. ;D
@ZeRo801 the crazy part is that the difference is .002 seconds which took the booth about 15 minutes to decide who beat who. We're talkin like a centimeter.
@ZeRo801 If you don't think this is epic given the signs of physical/mental anguish on the runner's faces, the drama of it being the final 50m of a race, the determination of each runner to push beyond their limit, the screaming fans, and the indistinguishable margin of victory, then you sir should look up the word "Epic," because you clearly have no knowledge of the term.
it is an amateur race,,, they haven`t technique :P but a lot of inspiration jajajja the lefty guy started up nitro when saw the 406 too near jejejeje
@LA6616 Yea, running something that YOUR FAT ASS WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DO!!!!!!! I LOVE RUNNING AND THATS WHY EVERY YEAR I GO TO STATE AND GET MY MEDALS, and i know how that part at the end feels, and that is something that you can't ever compare with anything else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@LA6616 Umm ok, then good for you, still don't understand why u act like your all that, it's to guys running ok, we all know that, who are you to sit there and critize them?
Green's chest was on the line first, but red's head was on the line first... and I think that indeed means that green wins, cos it's the torso that decides. Personally I think it should be the head (but unicorn hairstyles not allowed!) like it is for horse racing. The shoulder counts as part of the torso and some folks lean this forward. I think the head is much more natural.
I think it's amazing how the guy in green comes up to the leader and forces him to immediately pull out a sprint kick from nowhere when it seemed like he had no energy before that moment. Runners never quit!
That reminds me of one of my cross country races, I passed up like 5 people with a sprint that last 150 meters or so. It's leaves you with a satisfied feeling.
Nice race good strong finishes for both great athletes big time ups for ya both me and my track team won regionals thiz both for both boyz and girls too Lol
Good kick my kick is a 600 sometimes 800 depending on the competition around and how I feel I don't have the speed to kick a 100. and 9:16 for time thats awesome
It's amazing how much of a difference leaning across the finish can make. One of my friends got second place by being out leaned at the tape by 0.01 seconds.

That guy in the green had a pretty good kick for the end of a 3000 meter race. Too bad you didn't have the full last 300 or 400 meters.

Runners never quit!

it seems soooo much farther when running on the track..

SaxMan22392 1 year ago
That reminds me of one of my cross country races, I passed up like 5 people with a sprint that last 150 meters or so. It's leaves you with a satisfied feeling.

Good kick my kick is a 600 sometimes 800 depending on the competition around and how I feel I don't have the speed to kick a 100. and 9:16 for time thats awesome

damn so close! o.002 seconds!
IveSoGotThePow 1 year ago
It's amazing how much of a difference leaning across the finish can make. One of my friends got second place by being out leaned at the tape by 0.01 seconds.
