Well yeah obviously LMPs are fast enough to overtake regular GTs but not it this case.
In the middle of the curve, with 2 more GTs after the Ferrari.
Especially when you know that between the esses and the tertre rouge curve, he has plenty of room to overtake and then fully speed up in les Hunaudières.
You are totally right on the fact that Beltoise, the Ferrari driver, didn't see the Audi, though he has to race too, and he cannot keep looking at the rearview mirror even while curving...
He is very close to kill many people, eg only with the wheel... iI hope he will punished, not allowed to drive again an Audi ! Stupid or inept, no else choice. After one hour, he was not tired...
This is racing, crashes happen. You cant punish people for making bad decisions or errors..it would make racing a very dull and boring sport to watch.
Look at the video of Gilles Villeneuve racing Rene Arnoux for the 2nd place in the French GP 1979. That was as exciting and close racing as you can imagine in F1 or any other racing. Neither crashed out of the race, although they briefly touched.
Watching Senna qualify with a turbo car, fighting to keep the car going straight, was exciting without any need for crashes.
@JamoZ46 one feature of Le Mans is to mix all categories of cars. If one driver cannot integrate it, he has to stay at home. This kind of expression "this is race, crashes happen" pfff - Anyway it does not match with racing rules. His car is out of control, so as he cannot be tired after one hour, he is not able to drive this kind of Audi. He has to buy a kart. Nothing is more dangerous than pilots with such a poor level
@oujgorod You know, when i read your comments i knew you were french.
And it wasn't because of your grammar, it was your attitude, as if you are some kind of all knowing creature. Mocking those who you disagree with.
Crashes are accidents, nobody purposely causes them, and though some people make risky decisions, it's undeniable that too be a champion you need to risk a lot. Take examples from extreme sports, and other races. All of the champions played it real close at some point.
@molomono : that's why we can say that mc nish mmade a mistake. it was too risky. he could have waited for the straight. but the rivalry between him and his team mate and the pugeot time made a big pressure on his shoulders maybe.
You are creating groups where there aren't any just to exclude me making your statement feel like it has a sense of superiority.
Look, shit happens and people die, happens in extreme sports, happens in races, happens everywhere. If it was a bad decision or just an unlucky event is irrelevant. Take a step back and throw away your prejudgment. In both instances there aren't any motives, so blaming the driver for a bad decision is irrelevant.
@oujgorod Oh lord, the frenchest thing you can possibly do.
And you do it.
You know that most people won't understand your language yet use it acting like it's the most international language of them all. Followed by a english comment to get the point across. "i'm french conversation is over"
Look, i could speak dutch to you followed by hispanic and back to fucking polish, but does that help my argumentation? Hell no, it degrades the shit out of my argumentation.
Your argumentation was shit. Hell, irrelevant even.
So let me tell you how it works, when a conversation is over, you stop talking. When i respond to what you post, you don't respond back. Only then is a conversation over. And because you admittingly acknowledge this fact (the conversation being over fyi), you should take the liberty to execute your own statement.
I just use people like you to kill time so don't take it personally.
@TheRd1515 you'll get a good perspective if you watch the accident from the on board camera of the other Audi, it is not his faul at all, he came from the hill at full speed was surprized by the Audi slowing down so he managed to take the right path but the ferrari wasn't visible to him! the ferrari is at fault because it didn't let the other Audi pass, and so this accident would had been avoided.
@InitialDAmine That is totally true, but as you can see, the ferrari had little to no time to respond to the situation, the Audi was at its right side in a flash... It was unlucky for both of them.
Though let's not forget the dead angle and poor visibility he has with this new Audi R18 (with cockpit). He probably thought he was ahead of the Ferrari and that Beltoise then, was going to break and run on the outside, which he didn't do.
But Beltoise isn't to blame that's for sure. McNish tried a way too ambitious overtaking that could have been disastrous.
@tbalayet it s not impossible LMP1 cars has way more downforce than the GT cars and thus it could overtake the ferrari easly what i m thinking is that the driver of the ferrari didnt see the Audi coming as he has another behind him

The most important is Mc Neill did not kill or hurt anyone. This is unbelievable! because the wheel, the fragments... even the other pilots... If he did not strike this Ferrari, we could bet he rammed the first Porsche (?) yellow/blue.
Quickest upload in the word. Thanks! Sorry for Audi, but McNish shouldn't have taken a chance like that. Good luck for the rest of the race! Vorsprung durch Technik!
Holy crap, that's a big one, I know he's ok atm but my guess is that car is out. Shame as it was probably the most favoured to win. The speed difference between the LMP classes and GT is just so immense.

Personally I think crashes often ruins races.

@Timecontroll : conclusion : LMP1's are toooo fast for the GTs. That's the main problem !
anyway, professionnal and experienced drivers should be aware of that big difference. Mc nish wasn't at that particular moment.
