I saw this movie last week, in russian (a bit difficult to me, as far as I'm studying Russian only sice 6 months) and it wad so strong... I cried a lot !!

Is there any connection between Tatu song and the movie, or just a personal interpretation of them ? Great movie, so touching, .. so sad, ... you cannot cry. Oksana is really great !!!

That film moved me, really stunned me.. what upset me was the photo of jesus she carried, aterwards had to phone a christian phone line .. also made me see how ugly prostitution and Porn can be underneath.. one of the best films to portray that sad world.

Why did you NEVER laught? I thought some of the conversations between Lilya and Vlodja (thought that was the name of the little boy) where quite funny.

But I understand why your mum cried, i had it too. Very sad movie. The saddest part is that it is based on a true story.

I remeber when the movie had its premier in Stockholm, audience were so touched that they have applauded for several minutes, they just did not stop! I have never seen someone applauding to the movie in Sweden.

Lilja 4-ever is made after a real event with a girl that got trafficked to Malmö Sweden from Lithuania. Her name was Danguole and she came to sweden in september 1999 forced into prostitution by two guys. She escaped in januari 2000 and ended up killing herself throwing herself of a bridge over a highway. After her death the guy called "the Russian" went back to Lithuania and the other guy who lived in sweden stayed. Non of them were ever put on trial even though police know who they are.

hello katerinaao, and sorry I didn´t reply to your comment sooner :) The prosecutor claimed at the time that there weren´t enough evidence to build a case against these two men, but I don´t agree. I think it´s just because she wasn´t swedish but an "illegal" immigrant. If she had been swedish there would have been a trial. Maybe soon, when people (including police and prosecutors)start to learn more about human trafficking, they could be put on trial for their crime. I hope so.
