ive played both sports soccer (futbol/football) and american football. both take skill but in different ways. american football requires more size and strength and bursts of top speed while in soccer you do need burst speed, you need the endurance to run the full 90 mins. you need to be in great shape for both, just in different ways

i play both football and soccer and they are far different. the only thing they share is the short bursts of sprints quick turns and planing a head on plays. other than that its a whole lot different. strength wise and play wise.l

I've played American Football for years, I've played soccer for years, and they're both great sports to watch, and play, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. As far as injuries go I would have to say that you probably get more small ankle and leg injuries in Soccer, but there is a much larger risk of getting more seriously inured in Football.

both games are very entertaining. because of the passion on both sides. you see in the world cup or if you watch the premier league on ESPN2 (like me) that the crowd absolutely loves their soccer. And if you watch the Super Bowl or just any regular American Football game, you'll see they are absolutely in love with football. They are not the least bit scared to tell any team how they are if they suck or not. Despite how different each sport is, the passion is the same.

I'm from scotland where footall (soccer) is the number 1 sport but i watched the superbowl last night out of curiousity ... I was surprised at how interesting american football is. The only 2 things that put me off are the constant short breaks (like every 3-5 minutes) and the tame atmospheres; the superbowls the biggest event, yet the atmosphere didn't compare with say a champions league game.

I think the yanks have misplaced arrogance and insularity regarding football (soccer), because at the end of the day it's the worlds most popular sport.

i also watched the superbowl out of curiosity, and even though i found american football intriguing i found it frustrating and slow paced due to the short breaks. i think the yanks have to change that mentality if they want to really globalise the sport and change peoples perceptions about it.

well, to be fair the superbowl isn't really the best game to watch, in order to 'get' nfl ball. the commercials are part of it kinda-sorta. they annoy me too, i just want to watch a game. if you really want to see a game, watch one about mid-season-october or november. it'll make more sense, at least the game will be better. and i don't understand why we here in the us don't like soccer. unless, it's just be jackasses on principle. i understand soccer, mostly, just don't think about it.

i've watched some college football in the past and found it interesting, but i still think it's a relatively slow paced game in general compared to association football (soccer) due to stopping every couple of yards for a down and taking up to 3 hours or so to complete a 60 minute game ...

football is quite an easy game to understand :) ... the only player allowed to use their hands is the goalkeeper but only in the penalty box (with the exception of a throw in) ... the opposition cannot enter the circle in the centre of the pitch or the opposition half during a kick off ... no player apart from the kick taker can enter the D at the edge of the penalty box while a penalty is being taken and no 'inactive' player can enter the box until the ball has been kicked ...

players have to be 10 yards away from the ball when a freekick is given...a goal,throw in,corner,goal kick is only given if all the ball has crossed the line( the player can be out of play just as long as the ball isn't)...there are 11 players on a team..the game is 90 mins long(two halves of 45 mins)..when taking a throw in both feet have to be on the ground and off the field of play,the ball has to be withdrawn from behind your head before you throw and both hands have to be touching the ball
