It sounds like everyones screaming.... they need more vowel shapes, and learn to blend. I can hear wayyyy too many voices sticking out. Basses kinda lost their pitch too.. My choir is doing this song, with pretty good french, and blending pretty well, even though we only have one bass. Oh, and we're only in middle school. .. Sorry.
not to be mean, but this is pretty bad. del sol high schools choir did this, and it was pretty amazin. im so proud of my school. they should have worked on their pronounciation, vowels, and dynamics. look for del sol's version of this song, and see the difference.
the pronunciation in this is horrible. the men have pitch issues. work on your placement and vowels in general and your sound will mature by about ten years.
this is a song about dynamics and my teacher has been working with our class for competition. Instead of plowing through it, you should have different levels of dynamic markings.
i like this song but man u guys sound very elementary not even like 10 year olds like the seven year olds that are like mommy i want sparkley blue nail polish o and u had nooo dynamics!!! Dx<
Oh...my....God. They sound like an elementary choir. I performed this song in seventh grade in my district honour choir and it sounded better. A tough piece, so congrats, but try finding a better choir. It wasn't even sung so much as yelled.
its not deeray or diray theres supposed to be a kind of soft ch/g sound. idk how to describe it at all...but in middle school the french teacher came in and checked our pronunciation.
My friend in choir (who also took 4 years of French) told me that they are told to sing it like "dee-ray" with a hard 'r' because it's easier to sing I guess.
I love this song, in my choir, 4 girls did this song for our solo-ensamble, and now our normal choir gets to do it in french and english. but I love this song cause its so gossipy lol
oh my god. I've sung this song in a chambers choir and the vowels were just not fit for performance. It's nothing against the kids, the director should have known--or at least should have looked up--the proper pronunciations before embarassing himself (not to mention the kids) by singing jay nay low. The basses need to watch their pitch.
hey, look. I'm not attacking you guys. I'm questioning the director. It doesn't matter the location of the school or it's population; what matters is the director's skill. Maybe I'm just spoiled from living so close to NYC. (I live in central Jersey)
we are working on this song at my school...I can't help but notice that it sounds a small bit off pitch coming from the bass section and very uneven volumes throughout...but good! Our choir is sooo much smaller than this one, but props to your choir!
A lot of the french needs to be fixed. some vowels are just not pronounced like that and remember to carry the consonant ant the end of a word if the next starts with a vowel. I speak french and sang this at regionals...just so you don't think I'm trying to make you feel bad but it will help impress those who know it well.
We sang the same song in the middle school district chorus!....though, i think we sounded better....then again i'm bias, we had more people, and you said the sound quality is bad so what do i know? lol ^^ Its such a fun song!
Lol your pronunciation suckss.... I speak French.... And my choirs singing this....

It depends ... is this Chamber or just a regular choir. If it's a regular choir then it's decent-ish ...

err.. what happened to vowels? this does not sound very good.

It sounded like one of the sopranos was singing(screaming) loudly over the entire choir...she needs to tone it down lol..It was good though.

this is really bad...vowels or round sounds anyone? my choir did this and i'm a freshman we sounded soooo much better....sorry.
hollywoodchick12 2 years ago
This is horrible. You need to work on your vowels and Pronunciation. You also need to listen to each other. I could hear some people sticking out..

accapella is way better .
we did better in middle school .

this isn't very good.
Vowels need a lot of work and cutoffs aren't together.

We're just a high school chorus in a school of just over a thousand kids in the middle of nowhere. Give us a break.

the director is flipping amazing. coolest teacher ever. i wasnt in the choir at the time, but i sang this song for all-county and it's tough
mariah12567 3 years ago
it's tough, but not too tough. I did it with my choir and it sounded much better. Really, if the French is wrong, the song cannot sound good.
nicksax90 3 years ago
i have to agree, though i have more of a problem with the pronunciation in general. it is french after all. "eel nay paw boh du too"
hahaha
love the song though, and the lyrics crack me up. thank god for 18th century french music with songs about cheating on husbands and masss orgies!

that was a fun song to sing.

Most of us in the chorus took spanish, so it is very likely that the french was pronounced wrong. Thanks for the tip though.
