i think it could be both...it felt like he was using one of the thinner broads. then again, there's his explosive speed and power (one of the fastest i've seen)

I agree with loeaglelo, it looks like a combination of both to me. one of the lightest weight broadswords I've seen plus he has explosive speed and power. thin broadsword + explosive power = broken broadsword :S

Yea this guy has the best broadsword technique and speed that I've ever seen

I like how he doesn't seem surprised at all that the sword broke (in half, where the spine is pretty thick), doesn't get angry that he's pretty much disqualified, and immediately started bowing and waving...what great sportmanship!

Yeah i think it was, you can tell by the sound the sword makes, its not one of them new comp swords which are light and feel like kid's toy.
