She autographed my coloring pages and my napkins all i have been able to keep up with over the years is a napkin. She will be so missed. George Jones said it so well in his song years ago.... Who's gonna fill their shoes.......

  • LOVELY SONG BRINGS SO MANY MEMORYS BACK XX

  • Just heard she has Terminal Lung Cancer with maybe just a few days to live. Keep her in your thoughts.

  • its all lip synched........

  • @sweetglory Compare this video with others culled from the 1975 record. Billie Jo is singing much more forcefully, as a singer is wont to do in a live situation. The track is pre-recorded but Billie Jo is singing live on TV.

  • Great song! :-)

  • I read once that the suicide rate is highest in country-music-listeners from all genres due to the high occurance of issues like divorce etc.. This is the best example. Nice sad song though :)

  • @zebonaut What song were you listening to?. This song isn't about divorce. It's about a happily married couple.

  • Billie - kiss you so much - thanx!

  • musique très cool comme il salutations du polonais

  • hey dayday,

i was there too. i only went to see Lena Martell coz shes been my favourite singer forever.

It was a good nights entertainment to see Lena sing One day at a time and Billie Jo sing Blanket on the ground all in one show, eventhough theyve lost the power in their voices i still enjoyed it.

  • ust saw her tonight on her 2011 Ladies of Country Tour in the UK, at Tunbridge Wells. Her voice is still huge but there's next to nothing left of the lady herself. She doesn't look too well I'd say, so get to see her while you can.

This song made me cry...even more poignant when sung by someone whose blanket days are long behind them...

  • now this is country music love it

  • HOW CAN YOU DISLIKE THIS ICON OF COUNTRY MUSIC

  • WHAT A VOICE

  • @steveandpam1 mabe brittanys grandmother

  • @steveandpam1 mabe brittanys grandmother

Thanks for posting, lots of memories.

I get lost in her voice.....

  • what a sweet song. 'just because we are married don't mean we can't slip around".

    i love it! *****

  • Very special times. You could understand what they were saying and didn't have to be half dressed to get noticed. This woman was not pretending to be a country, she was country. Love it!

I wonder if she's still alive, or if she sings.

  • @feelgoodaboutit She is indeed still alive. According to Wikipedia (that ever reliable source! ;) ) she's makes music now mainly for the UK market where she still retains a good following. According to wiki, she last released an album in 2005

  • oh the memories eh kids love youall lots

  • This is a great song and she does a great job singing it. I can't understand why anyone would give it a thumbs down.

  • it sounds nice never hearded it before but yeah it's cool?

  • great old country music

  • Hate to be the one to brag but I dated her grandson! She is sooo cool in person.

I had no clue who she was, then she came back from a tour in Germany and was talking about the clothes they wear and we just got to talking and I began to like her more and more. Shes awesome.

  • @SonjaVolarious--You should brag, as I think next to Patsy Cline, Billie Jo Spears is one of the best Country singers of all time and it's just amazing that she never got the accolades in this Country (USA) that she so richly deserves. I would love to see her in concert in this country.

  • Brings back very happy memories for me and my other half.

  • A real singer who has real talent. Thanks for posting this. I love this old song too. The way music is today, Billie Jo would never see a recording booth because she isn't 22, with a figure like Barbie, wearing a skirt up to her crotch and five pounds of makeup on her face.

  • i love the song it is great

  • Notice how she said the message of the song differently. I love how she said

the same thing that's been said a million times before, but in her own unique

way. Isn't that the challenge that songwriters face? Great job!

Thanks for the post and the mem'ries.
