black taxis can buy a small kit that will halve their emissions and save a minimum of 10% fuel. if, for example fuel stays at its current price, and they spent £50 a week
(those were the days) the kit would pay for itself in a year.£100 a week/ 6 months if they spend £200 a week on fuel the bolt-on kit pays for itself in fuel savings in 3 months. An ECONOkit takes a couple of hours to fit.
The Mayor should upgrade the newly fashioned LEZ smoke test to a more accurate test of hydrocarbons etc
It is no accident that DEFRA wanted to hide the hotspots related to waste transfer sites from the European commission. Site dusts are extra dangerous dusts because of the metals (King's).
Whatever the outcome with motor vehicles, incinerators, new and old, combined heat and power, biomass and pyrolysis gasification are about to add a very serious additional problem to air toxicity.
The GLA's Environment committee were quite hoodwinked in this area last year and there will be trouble ahead.
