  • Can body weight exercises alone get me stronger and bigger muscles? E.g if I did pull ups, chin ups, push ups, one legged squats etc but don't use machines, barbells or dumbbells. Would it be sufficient enough to gain muscle mass and strength throughout the body? And would it be just as good as going to the gym and lifting weights? Your answer is appreciated!

  • @TheAustralopithicus you're gonna need to constantly get creative with bodyweight exerciss to continuously get bigger and stronger....so unless you add weights (rocks, weighted vest, sandbags, etc.) you'll need gym equipment. with bodyweight workouts, you'll definitely get/stay fit looking though.

  • @marinkino honestly....never taken steroids, no growth hormones, only used creatine and protein powder when I first started working out, I enjoy long walks on the beach, candle-lit dinners and my favorite time of year is winter :)

  • You have no triceps, or extrmeely small , there a bigger muscle than the bicep and you should train it more than biceps

  • @shakelightly , You look like a stallion , even as a nerd. Not fair. I do exercise, and actually my body doesn't look bad, but I want to take it to another level. Sometimes it's hard to keep that discipline with a Starbucks on every corner. I gave up McDonalds, etc a long time ago, but the temptations are everywhere, and managing home life can get hectic at times.

  • @TropicalThunderStorm been working out now, off and on, for 8+ years. i don't follow any nutritional guide...i just believe in eating natural, non-processed foods and consuming under 2,000 calories per day (although on weekends I splurge and go beyond 2,000).

  • Actually, for abs (especially lower abs) when you do the leg lifts, keep your knees only SLIGHTLY bent and raise your legs as far as you can, then bend your hips up as if you were folding yourself in half.

  • doing these increased my bicep strength and mass A LOT! I could only bang out 5 and sometimes 6 with perfect form. I got a long way to go to catch up with you haha. Its the truth though. these work!

  • these are great exercises for lats, for biceps there are much better exercices available

  • @amanuelamanuel definitely one of the best for lats but all i really do are pull-ups and chin-ups and some concentration curls so i put this out there cause if it works for me, hopefully it'll work for some others too. thanks for the comment!! :)

  • @shakelightly well it's obvious it worked for you, but what im saying is that different exercises work best for different people, it's not the same for everyone. i never do narrowhanded pull-ups for bicep, just dumbell curls and it works best for me.

  • I don't do pull-ups YET because I am to heavy for that... and that's why I am on a strict diet now for 20 days and I see already great results. :) youpie :D Anyway, I do push-ups against the wall (normal push ups is a bit difficult for me YET) and that gives me nice triceps and little biceps. So hopefully I can start soon with pull-ups so I can have big biceps muscles like you. :)

  • @HollanderT12345 I'm glad you're doing those push-ups!!! Even if you can't do a pull-up, just hanging, elevated of the ground, will build strength to eventually allow you to lift yourself all the way. Keep up the hard work!! :)

    i do pull-ups whenever i see something i can do a pull-up on....like in parking garages, they have those pipes that cross like pipe dream within jumping reach....sometimes on level 4, parking lot B, wherever i see em, i'll do a set
