  • If you still don`t have Nintedo iPad 2 get it now: goo.gl\8ONjl

  • the next level is video and games ..... fuck imagine REEGADE OPS amazing shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

  • Its clearly not cheaper than a physical model. 1 square costing over $1000 for 1 view. where as a physical model has infinite views plus that essential thing called natural light which produces natural shadows. its a fun invention, but it is insulting to suggest that this will replace physical models. Any architect that doesn't work with real physical models is in my view, a total cunt.

  • The future of centre folds

  • cant wait for porn that uses this.

  • Can I get my guitar finished like this?

  • @RoboticusMusic

yes you can. what design are you up to? not everything will give desired effect. there are limitations, but I can work out something for you if you need.

  • @MADDIVERUK Something called a buddahbrot. there are videos of it. But it's nothing I can afford at this time.

  • invisibility is just around the corner

  • señores estan biendo lo que renobara el arte moderno. asi seran los cuadros del futuro

  • Uploaded in 2009? Why is this not 'out there' yet?

  • @mengzor it is "out there" but a 12” x 18” color print is $1500 :P

  • @mengzor Because there aren't many that practical uses yet for consumers aside from a conversation piece.

  • Is it just me, or would some people put Padme's message, just playing repeatedly on that thing.

  • If made big enough these could be great for movie sets.

  • This is going to be used for porn in 3……2……1……

  • 1:03 whats on onvolope?

  • Now you see me. Now you don't! :)))

  • THIS IS THE SHIT. Like a bosssss!

  • That would make one kick ass coffee table top!...awsome!

  • That would make one kick ass coffee table top!...awsome!

  • it fucks up my brain xd

  • Oh Frick! This is all kinds of awesome!!! o.O

  • SO COOL

  • WAAAAAAAW!!

  • These sorts of holographic prints aren't new. They were extremely popular in the late 70s and early 80s, and they even had color prints like these in the mid-80s. The ability to print them from a computer is very much new, but the prints themselves are nothing special.

  • This is going to be used for porn in 3……2……1……

  • I WANT MY FLOOR TILED IN THESE.............

  • PORN.!

  • 20 people thought the dislike button was the buy button

  • This is fricking AMAZING. This guy should be my best fwend.

  • THESE ARE THE FUTURE 3D TVs

  • idiots who think a couple of thousand is expensive when used to show a model of a multi million dollar building =_= its not for personal use retards

  • This. Is. Awesome.

  • And its 1,500 for the 12in X 12in. No thanks...

  • Annnnnnnd the smallest one is 1,300 U.S dollars. No thanks.

  • this will be used for porn

  • that is craaazy

  • thumbs up if philly D sent you here!

  • awesome!!

  • Very very cool

  • Makes you wonder how close are we to turning this technology into a form of video communication

  • awesome!!!

  • i want to watch sports on this

  • WITCH !!!

  • What is this witchcraft?!

  • It's a great idea but is it affordable and readily available?

  • all i want to know is, does it still make that noise when you scratch it?

  • That's pretty slick. I can't wait until it actually comes out of the sheet like in every sci fi film/book/game. It would be cool to also mount those on walls and watch movies or play games and stuff (and by stuff people will read "porn." Whatever raises your sail and floats your boat I guess)

  • Can't wait for the porn :)

  • mind fuck

  • soon enough they will come with a ribon cable that u can get a adaptor for so u can change the image with ur pc! god when that comes thats gunna be epic

  • totally would have gotten first place in my architecture competiton if i had this. I used revit also for it, but got second place...

  • thumbs up if you actually know how to use auto desk 2011

  • WHY AREN'T TV'S MADE LIKE THIS INSTEAD OF USING 20 YEAR OLD TECH WITH "high tech" 3D GLASSES?

  • @MrTr0llol The model is costume made it's not like it can be changed every 1/24 of a second

  • @MrTr0llol they are, lol they wont be coming out for a couple of years thou

  • @MrTr0llol because its hard to film somthing in 3D for it to be displayed like that.

  • @joecooper18 nothing is hard these days.

  • @MrTr0llol a cost worthy method is yet to be produced. you would need a method of recording images that are behind objects. any way why would you want to move around to watch films from different angles anyway.

  • @joecooper18 Porn.

  • @MrTr0llol lol pointless

  • @joecooper18 we don't need half the shit we have.... i don't see your point.... if i can view a video slightly better...why not?

  • @MrTr0llol as i said in the first instance, its not cost effective to do it lol

  • @MrTr0llol

The image is permanently etched on the board :/ its not changeable.

  • @MrTr0llol

Does this image constantly change and update? No.

  • @MrTr0llol Because you cannot yet do this in video as it needs to permanently update many views at once. At the moment this is etched into prisms, not doable at a frame rate of more than about 1frame/hour lol =P

  • @MrTr0llol Because they can only make static models of layered images for each angle, only visible from that angle. And it requires a lot of computational power. Take a game that computes a image every 1/60 of a second (60fps). But for an image like this you would need a image computed for for each angle you might be watching it from. So for a single frame of the game you would require to compute at least a few hundred different angles to cover all of them. That would make the game unplayable.

  • @frostyhotboy so your saying in about a decade the computing power will be able to produce live videos? :D

  • @MrTr0llol Because these are still images, and it costs several hundred dollars to convert it to this.

  • @MrTr0llol Because it's still 2D... it only seems 3D when you move around, changing your angle of viewing. There would be no depth perception even if you saw one of these things IRL.

  • @TheCupEater What? Of course there would be depth perception. Because, you know, there's space between your eyes. That's why they both perceive slightly different images, resulting in a perfect 3D perception.

  • @MrKohlenstoff But it's a 2D surface. The picture itself, in the glass, would be 2D. The glass would be 3D, like the rest of your surroundings, just not the actual holograph. There is no depth in the holograph - it's only as thick as the sheet - but it gives the illusion of depth when you move around it.

  • @TheCupEater It gives the illusion of depth when standing in front of it, hence you could, in theory, use this technique for 3D TVs. The fact that the material itself is 2D doesn't really change that. You could compare it to simple holographic mirrors - you perceife an object in the air, but it's not actually there. It looks completely natural, but you can't touch it. But still in 3D. :P

  • @TheCupEater

This is a hologram, and no, the depth has nothing to do with the thickness of the glass, instead, the depth is created by varying different angles of reflection across a very complex surface.

You will see it in "real 3D" as in seeing it pop out or sink all the way in(think of it as the hollow sphere hologram trick), because the flat image, has thousands of different perspectives encoded into it.

  • Why the fuck don't they have a table to put the display on instead of the ground, smh

  • PORN?!

  • yes phil, this is awsome

  • i bet one day people will do this one their ipads

  • need to make a tv out of that

  • ARE YOU A WIZARD

  • omg 3D pictures

  • Where can you buy one? I wanna put it on my wall.

  • Amazing!

  • damn imagine technology in 10 years, our cells phones will probably be like this, just some thin plastic with a holographic screen

  • ALL MY MONEY

  • I would like an awsome picture on this sreen and hang it on the wall. then ppl are gonna be like '' HOLY SHIT ITS REAL!''

  • @DiaxKun hell ya

  • Audience? Wha.. What are you doing watching this 3d carpet thing?

  • Need one for the Derek Zoolander Center For Children Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too.

  • @Ryansmith312 haha, i was thinking the exact same thing.

  • Awesomeness :)

  • Why is it that videos like this that get people talking about sex and masturbating?

That just proves that people are becoming so anti-social that they'd rather have sex with a machine than with an actual human being.

  • @GoneLego WOOOOSH!

  • @GoneLego that's the sound of the jokes going over your head

  • so this is the future...close enough

  • how have i never herd of this, this seems to good to be true there must be a draw back.

  • @CallMeStorrm ya, it cant fit in your pocket like a 3DS

  • @ThePurpleclone I take a few of these over a 3DS any day this is the future

  • when i read sheets i thought it meant the kind on a bed... i feel stupid

  • Well... My brain just exploded.

  • Good GOD THIS IS AWESOME!

  • hey.... who else is thinking vocaloid?

  • Why don't we have tvs like this? PS3/Xbox360 + holographic sheets = really awesome looking gameplay.

  • @bogieman987 That would prob be much harder to do since this is just a pic

  • Comment removed

  • @Birdman33573 Scratch that last message, just read more into how it works, and yeah i agree, it would be harder but it seems like it definatly would be possible.

  • @bogieman987 The reason that we don't is because these sheets alone cost at minimum $1500 for the cheapest, smallest sized ones.

  • He looks like Ned Flanders.

  • Pictures came before moving pictures. If the picture is just plastic, can it be done on celluloid? I wonder.

  • Interact with in what way like a real physical model? I can't rearrange the objects. Can I zoom into it without losing any level of detail? It's a neat display and certainly eye catching, will make oustanding postcards. Can I cut it into four and have four of the same, yet smaller, images like a holograph? Neat technology.

  • /watch?v=4PAoIuoce20 Vocaloid benefits from this already

  • Oh...my...god.

  • I was led to believe this would be a video of a zebra imagining cool stuff :/

  • I want one of my face

  • @Agemrepus I don't

  • Oooga Booga Booga!

  • magnets

  • What is this!? A center for holographic ants!?

  • @Seikhupatz ^ ^ höhöhö !

  • @Seikhupatz I sir, Lol at the zoolander reference!

  • @Seikhupatz LOL Zoolander

  • @Seikhupatz LOL you literally just made my day!

  • @Seikhupatz I DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSES, the center has to be at least...Three times bigger than this.

  • Now my life dream of building a sidewalk with bear-trap and poo holograms can actually be accomplished. Thank you Autodesk!

  • OMG. I have amazed.

  • I like how he is showcasing it in a matter of fact manner, like it was some piece of inkjet printout. Thanks for sharing the video!

  • Burn The Warlock!

  • Thank you aliens from Roswell! All this great technology that keeps leaking is blowing my mind.

  • DAMN! Is there anything we can't do these days!!!

  • Holy cow, and this was from 2009. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

  • @whitestar111 the plasma-in-air you mention are not holographic at all, they are volumetric displays (cool in their own right, but much more limited; holographs can eventually feel akin to a window or mirror) A bit sad the stupid scifi films with their cheap tricks had to hijack the true meaning of the word "hologram", and made people not realize how awesome they are (possible to see for quite a while, if you cared)

  • Very cool.

  • That would be awesome to use as a photo on a wall. Portraits would come to life!

  • Who do I have to pay to get one of these on my wall?
