Vampire Princess Miyu, good choice. Though I like the OVA series better, the main was pretty good. And yeah you know Blood The Last Vampire, the Live action movie is actually pretty faithful to the Anime Movie. Sure it does throw a few new things in. But that's good, it gives us a suprise. And yeah it doesn't trail to far from the orginal material. Nice countdown all around.

I really don't have a huge favorite on vampires... I thought maybe I liked the Rosario+Vampire manga... but if you want favorite "monsters" I say the aliens in Magic User's Club OVA...You don't know what they're planning to do until the episode before the finale.

Also, Rosario plus vampire season 1 was alright, and had some good action scenes around the middle and end of the season. Tho season 2 was worse.

The best has to be probably Vampire Hunter D.

For Vampire Knight, read the first manga, didn't interest me. Never bothered with the anime series. I completely disagree with Miyu being on this top list.

I never found her as a good "guardian". She let people DIE! And the dub, her actress' were completely wooden! And don't get me started on Reiha. Antagonist? More ANGST-tagonist over a silly thing like her father saying her name when he died. Oh god, I'm going into a rant...

Monsters... well I use to say Akira has a lot of giant monster movie, just replace giant with "teenage-sized monster with GIANT powers".

I can't say much more, I kinda specialize too much on sci-fi. Well you could add nightstalking cyborgs like Rene D'anclaude from Armitage III, he's kind of a monster in the sense the Terminator was in the first movie. And maybe psyche monsters like those of Satoshi Kon.

@TG5455 I saw Vampire Knight and I had a hard time liking it. I think somebody watch too much Twilight and thought it would be great to make into an anime. The result, Vampire Knight. Ouch!

@whoisyouranime Dude try watching Trinity Blood. While it may not have the most accurate depiction of vampires especially since our hero Father Abel Nightroad is clumsy vatican priest who happens to be a crusanik which is a vampire that's either genetically, or scientifically altered to feed on the blood of other vampires and not humans. Don't ask how I didn't get it either still check it out. but don't expect to get a good ending

Totally agree with you on Vampire Princess Miyu (anime and ova) and Vampire Hunter D (1985 version and bloodlust). Personally, I would have Rosario Vampire for number 3 and Hellsing (the OVA) for number 4. Anyway, great list! Keep up the good work!

Hellsing is my favorite vampire anime for sure! I like the OVA the best. But I don't think even vampires can stack up to the nazi zombies. Thoughs things are just unstoppable evilness.

@willku9000 Well, I'm sorry, dude. It's just that Alucard is just too powerful of a character and I have a hard time believing that he can lose in a fight. Also, yeah, I made a mistake on the name Ingrid. I once own a bad copy of Hellsing and the subtitles called her Ingrid.

to be honest, i didn't like blood last vampire, i felt it was just 45 mins of really good effects, damn good but didn't do much else, story was meh and the characters didn't leave much of an impression.

but yeah good list, i really need to get started on karin, my second disk didn't work and i've yet to replace it.

Pretty good list Hardy, I have yet to the "Blood:The Last Vampire" anime, but I've seen the trailer and heard good things about the movie.

My favorite monster anime would have to be "Devil Lady", I mean I have only the first volume on DVD and it's freaking terrifying.

Oh and I too have "Horror of Dracula" on a 4 pack "Warner Bros. Favorites" and it was a good movie. R.I.P. Michael Gough :(

My favorite vampire anime would be shiki( really creepy anime and I love that not only vampires are potrayed as scary creatures but humans as well), vampire knight ( It's not scary but the story is kinda interessting) and Moon phase ( really hilarius anime series)

shiki is worth watching. It's from the same creator who did ghost hunt and twelve kindgdoms. As for vampire knight.. yeah it's not for everyone. What I love about vampire knight are the villains and side characters. I loved how Shizuka wanted to destroy someones life just because her life was destroyed. The side characters didn't do much in first season but in my opinion they were more interesting then the main characters and to be honest I wished the show would be about them.
