Ay dude need sum help on my century left back window don't work but when I click it to go down you can hear sumthin in the door move what can it be and on my right front one don't go down either but you can't here nothing at all please help thanks
Thanks so much. 30 minute job thanks to your videos. Works great. One hint, use a rubber door stop wedged into the window and door frame to hold the window in place when your remove and replace the regulator (guide). Easy, peaszy, japaneszy.
Ok, so. so far 3 of my windows on my regal are not working at all. I spent 5 hours on the passenger window just messing with it but I had no clue the mechanism on the inside. I've done research and its the regulator thats defective. I didnt know last time so I had to wrap the regulator wire around some bolts on the inside of the door panel. (ghetto)
I'll try this tomorrow I hope I can get the regulator off.. but it seemed difficult last time I tried. thanks man for the vid!!
Do not go to the stealership! If you want the stealership experience just stand in a dark alley with a sign that says I have $1200 in my pocket and Ill jack you =P
You can do it! Take your time do 1 side per day weekend if you have too. Its not hard. Youll save money doing it yourself and youll have that toasty warm feeling inside that you did it yourself =)
Thank you very much on these videos. My wife's car needs both front windows fixed. The mechanic quoted me about $400 each. I immediately said no. My wife bought a garage service manual on her car off of ebay. I looked at it, the part on ebay, and your videos. I'm going to do it myself!!! I will take videos also to supplement yours. One question, do I have to be concerned with LH and RH when I purchase the part, I suspect yes.
I have a buick lesabre and just had the same problem on 2 windows. Shell charged $700 in total. I tried to duplicate what you shown, but I did not find it all that easy to take off, plus other problems were encountered. I sent my car to a "hustle shop" and got everything done for $200. The wire got tangled up in motor. He untangled that and sprayed lubricant on it. He also put some putty substance there as well. My window had to be replaced too. (I bought the car used)
How far did you get? You could of asked me for help and I would of gladly tried.
Mine failed because the cable snapped so it stopped going up.
If the mechanic said the wire got tangled in the motor Im sure he was talking about the cable that moves the window up and down. I personally would of cut it with tin snips since the motor and the guide would have to be replaced anyway.
thanks so much. There appears more than more motor on the door which is why I decided to take it to the shop. Plus its really cold where I live and they were talking snow. and..yes it was the wire that moves the window up and down.
There's no way in hell I would have them do anything to my car. I just went in for some recalls and they wanted to replace my wheel bearings for $897 (!) among other things. It would have added up to over 2 grande. I told them no thanks and was happy to get a new starter motor out of the recall.

Just go for it and replace everything. The assembly comes with new cables and a new motor.
While your at it I would just replace all 4. $200 and about 4 hours of your time doing them all and your set.
Just go ahead and search the parts on Ebay and they should be $50 per door. Remember all doors have a specific assembly.
Good luck!

Hey thanks john, I'll try to find the parts on eBay. If not I'm gonna have to go to a stealership haha

Both the rear power windows have gone out on my regal, I've heard they aren't very reliable so how long do they last after you repair it?
stanbernadino 3 years ago
They fail right around the 100,000 mile mark it seems.
Like I said in the video the Motor is $40 on Ebay and very easy to install. No clue how long it'll last since I've only had it in since October.
If longevity is a concern Kragen sells window motors with a lifetime warranty for $180 I beleive.
Like I said its really easy and I hope you dont take it to a stealership and save some money =)
