This is saying something since I dearly love all the Byrds versions of Dylan songs, but to my mind this ranks as the finest cover of a Dylan song, EVER!! And that includes Hendrix's version of Like a Rolling Stone. For me, this is the song I want to hear on the 4th of July!
Bruce does an OUTSTANDING job with this legendary Dylan song. As much as I love Bob's version as well as The Byrd's cover, this may well be the best rendition.
Remarkable ... one of the most awe-inspiring and passionate deliveries by Springsteen himself ... which goes to show that he excels beyond mere songwriting abilities ... he is a true INTERPREATOR of song ... Dylan's version is hard to beat, but Bruce's at least stands well-deserving as a fine book-end ... how amazing it is how the words/feel of the song just fit his style like a glove ... but no surprise after all: Bruce has done a proud job of carrying on the potent story-telling tales. A+!!
A Dylan masterpiece brilliantly performed as only Bruce Springsteen can...

This seems to be all about Springsteen's stadium singing with little feeling for Dylan's poetry. Early Dylan was never safely commercial like this.
