Humans have free will (or enough illusion of it to be free will) and can choose whether to help or hurt other animals. I think we should help them...

I understand different people have different ideas and not all will agree. But why do you oppose people trying to abate an already critical problem? I agree with you: saving cute polar bears isn't the biggest deal. But, it is an important deal since so many things rely on that animal that you chose to depreciate. I don't care who Noah is. It's a fact that the environment is endangered and all of us have done our share to damage it. Why do you belittle those that try to fix the problem? Why?

I would hardly describe Noah Wyle as B-List; he's the highest paid television actor (per episode) in TV history, and I would venture that he and his wife, having spent the better part of the last decade devoted to various environmental causes, are suitably informed on the issues they advocate. A little self-congratulatory smugness is a small price to pay for the revenue and support some of these folks engender.

I hate to burst your bubble LateTrain but A-list actors make 20 to 25 million per movie. Think Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Russell Crowe or Brad Pitt. Noah is most definitely B-List. That doesn't mean he is poor....it means he is B-List.
Furthermore, if he is well informed I am only incensed further as it would then become an outright lie he is telling. Engendering revenue for a worthless cause is tantamount to stealing.

While protection has brought up polar bears numbers well, the vid made by WWF wasn't aimed on the population extinction by numbers. It's talking about extinction due to global warming... so you're point is afar. Anyways, there are degrees of extinction, so you should google it to understand more about the issue and compare the stats before the year of 1972 to see the sharp drop.
