  • Hey Exo if I build a box like this for a car and it has a single 12 would I see any improvement over a back firing box? 1 seat would be folded down

  • @Evolover21 - This box does fire toward the back.

  • Wouldnt an extra baffle change the overall tuning of the box?

  • @conman12345678910 - Not if you add it to the TOP

  • @EXOcontralto good point lol

  • hey, i got 2 sony ssc510AV's, 3 way speakers, the subwoofers are 12", and the bass don't sound so good, i don't have any ports for it and its 8 ohms, and i got it hooked up to subwoofer on my stereo, on the stereo it says "subwoofer (6 ohms)" is that the problem or is it the box? cause my friend has 1 12" subwoofer with a short box and a port in it, the stereo and subwoofer are both same ohms, and its way better than my 2 sonys and they both are the same wattage, what do i do? thanks!

  • @Frostbite1101 - Try wiring things up more appropriately for your amp!

  • @EXOcontralto i don't have a amp, its just subwoofers hooked up to the stereo, i got the whole system in my room lol

  • This video is 2 years old, so I'm assuming you've gotten some decent tools by now?

  • @kendigjl - Nah, not really :P

  • @EXOcontralto Maybe you should think about doing a demo build in front of a local pawn shop or hardware store? They would probably kick down some free tools in exchange for the publicity.

  • Exo looks like jesus ^^

  • @Dampfplauderer96 - Thanks?

  • @EXOcontralto no problem ;)

  • Thumbs up for shaggy from scooby doo

  • @Ncaablitz - That's how I roll :)

  • start your first hole at the edge of the circle - not the center ;) then cut around :) it will save you some time ;)

  • i thought the port hole had to be on the same side as the woofer??

  • yo exo my system is a kenwood kenwood kac 729s amp running a JL audio 15w-18 sub in a custom built sealed box which is 18.8x15.75x15.75 inches (2.59 ft3)

I am considering stuffing the box with poly fill for something to do as i have heard it can make the bass deeper????? btw jl recommends sealed box size for my sub at 2.25 ft3...... just wondering what you think, thanks

  • the first 10 seconds of this video sounds like you were about to start rapping lol. nice build though man

  • Hey, how many cubic feet is this box, im thinkiong of making a similar one and putting a re sx 18 in it

  • nicely done mate ....well made ..and forget all this talk about jigsaw? go old skool with the saw yes siiiiiiiiiiiir :D

  • 1:26 Battery hanging on for 'deal' life?? You mean 'dear' life xD

  • @extremeaudioPRO - I work with what I have... Oh well.

  • I really love this video thank you for sharing and greetings from Mexico City!.

  • sawzall really... come on on find a jigsaw

  • Hey EXO thanks for all the great vids. I just built a ported box for two JL Audio 12w6's, check it out on my channel and let me know what you think man!

  • Who needs dave the box guy!?!?!?

  • can anyone tell me how big to make to make a ported box to get the most bass from it. If space isn't a problem whats the best size to make a ported box for a 12" sub (if it depends on the sub lets just say its a p3) for only one sub. Also if you use a pvc pipe for the vent thing, how long should it be and how many? what about for another size of sub? thanks a lot. By the way nice videos EXO!!

  • @Edwin3912 There is no simple easy answer. Box design is more complicated than just being able to throw out random numbers. It takes time to figure out what size of box and port size and length would be most suited to each individual sub to give optimal bass. If you already have a sub that you would like to build a box for, PM me with the brand and model #, I'll see if I can work something out for you, if you'd like.

  • @Edwin3912 If space is not an issue, go to a folded horn design, is the best for efficiency, that is most dBs per watt than any other design. google it, the longer the horn, the better, but beware, there are some folded horn designs that are a joke, too short to have any efficiency or low end clarity and loudness.

Most ported, or sealed boxes get dbs using only brute force, with tons of distortion.

  • @RDELAPLAZA i just did a tapped horn for my dd9518 and im really liking it

  • umm i just wanna know what is the secondary outter baffle piece used for?

  • ur supposed to make the whole once the box is assembled

  • dumbass use a jigsaw or a rotor

  • You know a Speed controlled Jigsaw with a good blade would been way easier LOL

  • new yankee workshop mutafucka haha. sick box

  • can any1 say hella flush? lol what does the baffle do besides makin it look awesome? haha does it sound better?

  • hey exo i need some help on a box i have a audiopipe ap-3001d comming in for cristmas and a stinger spp1500d batt. then im going to buy the fi btl n2 and i need some dimentions for a box. and the box u built looks like it would fit in my 97 ford explorer sport. please get back to me as soon as possible thank you.

  • :S long live the little black hat blahhh

  • whats a ported box? I'm new to all this car audio stuff...

  • @hectorltd lol so am I. In simple words, Ported means the box has a port for sound to come out. :)

  • damn i remember when i had to make my boxes this way

  • hey your the guy that taught me how to do a back flip thanx ohh yeah I broke my neck LOL JK

  • Do you skate?

  • @bachubachu09 - Hell Yeah!

  • awesome box and subwoofer. but i also have a question.I have 2 12 in alpine type s subwoofers and i want to build a ported box with the two little vents in the front. would you happen to know the dimensions i would need ? thanks

  • goodjob!!

  • your a spaz man lol...but big big props to doing this shit your self and not paying a shop to do it. just keep on reading and getting all your research right. I.E. cubic feet, wiring up your amp, ect.

  • whats are the specs for this box?

  • counter sink the sub would look well better

  • That looks pretty good for not using a router.

  • where do you go to get the measurements for the port? and box size??

  • nice video, i liked the style it was made.

  • Are you a skater?

  • 2:32 who needs a gf when you can have your sub flush in a box?

  • 1:30 IS THE BEST PART. hahahahah!

  • do you got any vids of you making boxes..? i wanna know how to make a ported box for three 15"s

  • @EXOcontralto yup..use what you got..that guys just a troll

  • lol dude ur awsome lol

  • @TravisLikesCoolStuff by the time you run your power cable, we're done

  • @TravisLikesCoolStuff buddy not everyone has great tools

i make a living building boxes and all i have is a circular saw, 12" T square, 48" T square, b&d sander and a shitty router

    dont be a dick.

  • @TravisLikesCoolStuff rip both of u with my compresser one from snap on

  • @TravisLikesCoolStuff you're an idiot - who the hell cares what kind of freakin saw he uses? Jesus - if it gets the job done, that's all that matters. talking shit about portable saws is for pussies.

  • i have a 97 dodge avenger a trunk car but i can fold my back seats down, what kind of box do u recomend. a sealed box or a ported box? im gona bulid my own box im just wondering what would sound better.

  • @creeksidegreenville - Once you go ported you'll never go back - Contact Dave from DaveTheBoxGuy designs, he will have a better prognosis.

  • @creeksidegreenville Use the whole trunk as your box, use plumbing sealing foam, to cover every hole and make it air tight, and reinforce the sheet metal walls, making them at least 2 in thick all the way around and vibration proof, then replace the back of the seat with a wall made of a piece of plywood with the ports and speaker holes, then if you close your car;'s windows and doors and open the trunk the whole car inside will also be a box (different though) that can be heard from outside.

  • i have a 97 dodge avenger a trunk car but i can fold my back seats down, what kind of box do u recomend. a sealed box or a ported box?

  • i trid to make subwoofer box but i ont have the wood i been trying to make a box for 2 10'' subs and 1 12'' sub what kind of wood should i use

  • im gona make a subwoofer box for a 12''. can u give me any dimensions

  • im going to be making my sub box with 1" thick Aspen Hardwood (: its a new experiment i wanna see how it sounds using ASPEN C grade... i will post a vid when im done

  • hahahahah this like the movies!!! when some ones dieing lols and the other one says STAY WITH ME U CAN DOO IT!!! lols EXO U THE MAN !! l

  • hay man i just got my new 18 in did you have a personal way on brakeing in your sub and one more thing did it take a wile for your sub to hit real low notes if so was it because it was so new and stiff im haveing that prob right now the box is 5 and a half cubes tuned to 36.5 hurts it should dump hard i have the power to push it maybe its not enough plz hit me back.

  • @baconbrandin - I listen to my music just as I normally would, but not to a point where I begin "pushing the limits" - You know??

I save all that brutality for a few weeks into having my woofer - But some people will say "breaking in" is often over thought & not entirely necessary with some brands

  • @baconbrandin It's hertz you dumbass.

  • what type of wood?

  • Invest in a router an be done cutting hole in 5 seconds an perfect hole every time a baffle is where the subwoofer screws to for the guy who asked dat question an some times u have to brace the wood even with double baffle

  • how do u draw ur circle out so nicelyy like what tool do u use. sorry if thats like a really retarded question

  • @doza146 - Use a Router & Guide ~ or ~ a Tack & String

  • or just get a laser cutter like me and no need for crappy saws

  • what is a baffle for?

  • what amp are you using bra please say exo by the way love youre vids

  • hey man great vid but can u help me out i was actually lookin to make a custom speaker box for an alpine type r 10 and ive heard that they sound better with a port/vent and i was just wondering how do u actually make a port/vent

  • @ doza146 - Check on Google for software (can't remember names, but there's a couple different ones) onhow to figure out what size port you need, what type port works best, & how to build it specifically for your sub. The numbers you need to input in the software should be on the magnet sticker, or on the paperwork/box that came with your sub. If you can't find the info, use Google again to find it, or check the software you downloaded to see if your sub is already added.

  • you sound like ur gettting a hard on puttin the sub in "ohhh yeeaaa"!!

  • hello i want this song... plssss ! where can i find it? Artist name, song name? Anyone?

  • i got a shitty box is there a way to make it better easy?

  • Super ghetto but gotta admit came out really good ... Nice job

  • hahahaha

    super ghetto

  • nice job man

  • nice job on the baffle buddy

  • LMAO GOOD SHIZZZ

  • LMAO "COMMON BABAY!! COMMON!"

  • Should i use 3/4" mdf or do i need to double up to 1.5" for the baffle...the rest of the box is 1.5" MDF

  • hell yea im not the only one to use the saws all

  • @440exxxrider Hell yeah!

  • its the NEW Binford 19.2 SUPER SAW. You would totally be the Tim Taylor of systems. Love it! 5 stars!

  • 1 star for box quality and 5 stars for the hat!

  • LMAO @ " COME ON BABY, YOU CAN DO IT, COME ONNNN".

Man Steve really hooked your ass up, I am literally Dying to get my hands on one of those SMD's .. I been blowin his ass up about that speaker. haha

  • Sexy

  • Loven the how to videos. If you have a 12" sub what size should the hole be cut and does putting a baffle board over it help or hurt the bass

  • hey what wood u using or u need to make a speaker box........

  • Heh, you are so funny! When you cut an inch of wood, you say: "We are one inch closer to end." And when the battery didn't hold....

  • lovin these vids

  • what does a baffle do?

  • It combines the look of a "flush mount" install with the strength to prevent against 80lbs of flex.

  • thanks. did you get my question about my kicker l5?

  • Looks like you might have gotten your shoe @1:39 LOL It has happened a million times . . . To me LOL

  • FLUSH IS KING

  • what kind of wood and glue did u use?

  • looks like partical board

  • 1.5" MDF w/ 16oz titebond

  • This is some of the best glue hands down. A little runny but in the strength test Titebond wins !

  • thats needs to be mdf? or can be normal cutted wood?

    Sry for bad english

  • if you ever need to take out that sub.. HOW ARE YOU GONNA DO IT WITHOUT DAMAGING THAT BEAUTIFUL BAFFLE!
