  • it's just a matter of taste and experiences.

i mean, if you've lived important moments of your life with Lou/VU or the Rolling Stones as soundtrack, it is obvious that in your opinion they are more important than others. i think that in musical discussions it's almost impossible the be completely objective.

    Long Live Lou Reed!!!

  • we are the table

  • Fucking legend.

  • props to the late great Robert Quine on lead quitar.

  • Rolling Stones are the top of the rock of all time and stop.

Lou reed it's an amazing musician and composer and stop.

  • @gianni28381 dear gianni, trust me, lou is top and stop

  • the king

  • rolling stones are excrement compared to lou reed

  • @astroboirap dam straight not good enough to be his roadies

  • @astroboirap

    Comparaciones son odiosas

  • The smile and laugh Lou gives after singing the Glory of Love, tells me just how much he was into singing this song... the most powerful version of this song I have heard.....

Give it to me Baby!!!!! Long live LOU!!!!

  • Though this version is very powerful I miss the much younger more nasal Lou Reed on the record. The one who would have said "I'd like to send this one out to Lou and Rachel". I can't find any information about what happened to "her" in any biography and nobody is brave enough to ask Lou Reed.

  • i fucking love this, look at lou, he love`s it too.

  • WOW !!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW !!!!!

  • Cultural New York's anthem!

    What a beautiful poem.

  • The glory of love... might see you through!

  • You know he has a cool voice and sound , but this song and many others that he has done are rip offs of Rolling Stone's songs. Lou is NOT a genius , but a person who takes others songs and does something kind of pleasing with them. Thing that is wrong is how many people think he is an original.

  • @alexlancer11 ah, but The Velvet Underground influenced the Stones too. Mick Jagger said it himself when talking about Stray Cat Blues... ''I mean, even WE'VE been influenced by the Velvet Underground... I'll tell you exactly what we pinched from too. You know Stray Cat Blues? The whole sound and the way it's paced, we pinched from the very first Velvet Underground album. You know, the sound on Heroin. Honest to God, we did!''

  • @StrummingSparrow That is cool will have to look into it. I like his music in any case.

  • @alexlancer11 Dude don't even say that... Listen to Walk and Talk It... Rolling Stones (Brown Sugar) took that from Lou.

  • Way cool!

  • L O U R E E D at his BEST!

  • Lou your the best WE LOVE YOU!!!!!

  • ill take the version from 'take no prisoners" -but good post !

  • @markmustb1 thank you !you are right!!!

  • 1:28 to 1 :34 and you know everything!

  • x large

  • from 1:28 to 1:34 he is himself totally. love this .he is himself and this is always good ,for everyone. a sign of humanity and balanced life .

  • @fapaagek no - he was himself completely through the whole song, actually. pue lou.

  • no .it is 1:28 to 1:34

  • good ol ape-faced loopy lou

  • Listen to The Excellents sing it, then tell me!

  • Great version; Robert Quine line is the key factor here

  • Master-pace-a !

  • Great, as is all his work if you understand him.

  • It's when the camera has zoomed in on his face (around 2:45) that it knocks you for six with the pure power of Lou's lyrical genius.

  • the take no prisoners version is my favourite, i wish i could find it on here.

  • 9-25-84, Capitol Theater, Passaic NJ -- released on VHS

  • Robert Quine is awesome!

  • lou is cool the best song of his, even the shitty keyboard player sounds great on this

  • Anyone know where and when that show happened?

  • @cheaplaffs Italy 82-83?

  • @dinglegonzo 9-25-84, Capitol Theater, Passaic NJ (the Live In Italy tour was 1983)

  • Great version of this great song. One of Lou's best of that he has plenty. His voice is so strong and clear. Rober Quine great guitarist for Lou. Rachel was his "girlfriend" back then when he was living a different life. There is no one like Lou. One of a kind.

  • Great version of this great song. One of Lou's best of that he has plenty.

  • .... one of his greatest Songs... "for Lou & Rachel" ... love it!

  • hey lou this is my favourite song of yours

  • this is briliant

  • let me tell you. i love this song. so the ispiration for me to write that song tel aviv came originally from this one. but there was love involved and rejection and memories and tears. so but lou helped me like always. so Rachel if you read this whereever you are: I still miss you sometimes, and that is the sad story of my life. first love never dies i quess.

  • ive never saw lou sing with so much emotion.

  • the best version of this song by far is on the album take no prisoners when they start jaming at the end i just cant contol myself

  • nyusedbooks, you got the money on the man.......as a poet, a word smith, a guy who's lived more lives than most of us will ever live, you got it dead on, mate! No seduction. No bait. No apology. Lou is a man who dares to tell you the truth. Like Dylan. And IMHO, like Neil Young (though he's west coast, he's not one to f- with when it comes to his lyrics or music) - they all say effectively, "take it or leave it and F-U if you don't like it".......and they are all 3 still with us!

  • Looooouuuuu!! :-) The King of New York..

  • This is a great song my brother!

  • I wish there was a junction. Iggy Pop + Lou Reed = ???

The best creature ever concieved in american soil. Just picture it.

  • this is the song I love the most. Lou at his best. With this song he can´t go wrong. I love those chords. And that power too. It´s like gently talking and then punch to your face. And your heart starts pounding. True guitar hero to me. Lou Reed. This song.

  • I prefer him in Velvet Underground, this seems so 'normal' next to Velvet

  • the bald guitarist is wicked. who is he?

  • @kralle7611 robert quine. look him up, he was awesome.

  • @mkaro thank you :)

  • grandissimo!

  • he looks like a jewish monkey with a guitar

  • @astroboirap

funny, to me he never looked Jewish.

  • @herminestover oh c'mon. he looks like a jewish frankenstieeeeeeeeeeen

  • @astroboirap , I always assumed he was IRISH!

  • I don't wanna play football for the coach...

  • erm. am i deaf or is this horrible compared with the album version?

  • @Sandyhendry it's just a different rendition. I always seem to hate Lou's live versions at first listen, but then they grow on you, almost overpower the original at some points.

  • Look that jugulars veins

  • I LOVE LOU

  • Yes this is a true masterpice .a s I get older I just love his earlier stuff more and more. Robert Quine was a pure genius...................... Man, I swear I'll give the whole thing up for you!

  • Dear schnecke1916 - I feel just about the same :) Lou looks like a mixture of a frog, a dinasaur and a rock'n'roll singer out of tune - and he is a little bit of it all. But first and foremost, isn't he simply fantastic?!

  • Such a good performance! At the end of this, Lou is jumping into the song "white light white heat". Can you please post this as well?

Lou seems to be in the perfect mood for a concert on this day!

  • New York is a giant shithole and everyone's a borderline

  • @70goldtop My love is exceeding the limit

Red-eyed and fevered with the hum of the miles

Distance and longing, my thoughts do collide

Should I rest for a while, on the side

  • Right on the money and hurling Schnecke!

  • 2:43-2:47 My lou!!!!

  • 2:43-2:47 My lou!!!!

  • The glory of LOu!!!

  • I love him so much!!!!!!!

  • i love lou reed. i'm so glad i got to see him live because he's amazing no matter what he's doing or where you see him. its cool in this video how when he started playing he noticed the fan's reaction, seem's like he was trying to hide his smile.. awesome vid..

  • merci, pour mon pote

  • I wanna play football for the coach...

  • A fantastic poet.

  • My girlfriend and I just took a road trip and we listened this album over and over. One of my faves!!!

  • Quine, God rest his soul, Is absolutely brilliant. What a concert concert tour this was. I was privileged to see it a few times.

  • you just about held it together lou, what a guy.

  • I listened to this when I was 20 and now at 56 it still means exactly the same to me. Just the faces and the places have changed.

  • alta versión. Muy piola Robertito Quine

  • "o' fridd pe cuoll" (shivers on me) :-)

  • 2:45 i love you lou

  • Lead guitar on this is first-fucking-rate. Who IS that guy? He looks like an FBI agent! I love it.

  • Robert Quine

  • The great Robert Quine at his best. Give to me baby!!

  • Lou Reed is a very serious person. That isn't a negative thing. He's just always talking about what is important in life and what isn't, what's true and what isn't. He doesn't try to seduce you by smiling or dancing around. Like Dylan, he's saying you can take it or leave it. Its beneath his dignity to say anything else.

  • @nyusedbooks nice,I will remember your quote.

  • @nyusedbooks this right here is a very serious commentary.

  • @nyusedbooks perfect statement of Lou s work .

  • I love Lou Reed to death but...I gotta say. he has no stage persona. When he's on the stage he is just straight business. At least he is now. the hard living made him more of an entertainer i guess. But i think he's good either way.

  • After hearing the song about 50,000 I realized two things: a) The lines about the coach and the princess could be metaphors like for family members; and b) I want to live to hear it another 50,000 times.

  • @nyusedbooks Good comment!

  • Robert Quine

  • F***cking hell! Amazing rendition. The album version is only slightly better.

  • My God! Look at his face from 1:31 to 1:54, it looks like he's sucking a boiled sweet, Planet of the Apes how are you! Don't get me wrong, this is meant to be a compliment, this man doesn't just sing this song, he lives it, such sincerity, I'm a big Lou fan and the older I get the more I understand what he's singing about. Never played football but I did play hurling for the coach.

  • @schnecke1916 Ha ha, he does look like Roddy McDowell

  • What happened to the 'want to play football for the coach' intro. I loved those lyrics..

  • yeah every time i hear that intro, i fall into the same trance i did the first time.

  • It was like some burnt out junkie reminiscing

  • Lou is the best when on top. When not - - - this is a beauty!

  • Lou is the Business!!

  • Glory of love

    best words

    for a song

    i like this

  • I love 「Take No Prisoners」version too

    !!!!

  • I love the "Take No Prisoners" version

  • Possibly Lou Reed's greatest song ever!! Love it.

  • THis song live kicks ass!!

  • He kinda messed up the lyrics quite badly! But it's still good.

  • you're right there

  • Excellent!!! A rockin' and powerful performance by Lou!

  • Thank you for posting this

  • Lou Reed c'est le plus grand ! Y a pas de mots pour cette chanson et cette version, la musique c'est ça !

  • En hommage a ROBERT QUINE décédé..........SALUT ROBERT !

  • Darrell Anderson and I were last in line to see Lou at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco, '77. They cut the line off & would not let us in, tickets or no, Max Occupancy Bull-. As we sat in the rain, Darrell shoeless, myself coatless-bemoaning our fate-the back exit door opens. A man, silhouetted in the doorway, says "Are you here to see Lou Reed?" Hell yeah! we replied-man stepped out-LOU REED himself. He brought us in, intro'd us to the band, sat us at res'd table upfront. LOU is GOD! THANKS!

  • I guess he/she was joking about Hunter...I hope!

  • Uh, try Robert Quine on guitar.

  • ...and Hunter Thompson on guitar :)

  • Wonderful live version. Thanks.

  • a marvellous version of one of the greatest masterspiece of Lou.

    thanx lou

  • lou reed.coney island,the warriors.funtimes.

  • how old is he now?

  • incredible performance. thank you.

  • And all the love we've lost, is all the love we've had. It's more than ash and dust and less than everything we've aspired to be. The glory of love is nothing more than an idea. Nothing less than ourselves.

  • Does anyone know what this is from? This is an amazing performance and he looks so young! If it's available on DVD I want it!

  • if everything could be just a melody.......i think i stay in here.

  • song from?

and robert quine,a silent legend, always there with his black sunglasses...gotta adore his works w/ both lou and voidoids

RIP Bob,we miss you a lot

  • @frenzexperiment When I listen to him it's like a friend singing to me

  • @FatBlowRo Yes...after listening Lou Reed's records for so much time you have the sensation of hearing a familiar voice talking to you, not a cd or an lp...

  • @frenzexperiment i love you man, i need some food on the bed with you!

  • @frenzexperiment your words make me cry, 'cause i know you're a handsome guy with glasses, very sexy and i put a spell on you! to find out a very gorgeous redhead to marry her e carry on... but remember, if you don't have the possibility to marry, i'll come towards you with oper legs for love! the Glory of Love! xxx

  • There was good friend I had up North. We would speak only using Lou quotes, until we wet ourselves. it was how we got our kicks -man.

It's been years now and I miss you Spike,, where-ever your are.

Every Lou album would remind me of coming of age. To each song i can remember where I was in life.

If you'd ever had a Berlin moment? Then welcome back. And believe me,, I know it was tough.. Welcome back.....

Trout fishing the Pennsylvania hills with my friend Spike. How I miss you....
