@breezyartist562 for the record, i've never hated Microsoft entirely. They're software packages such as Office and their gaming division Xbox are pretty good. I just don't like their smartphones, mp3 players or their OS.
I regret getting my iPad 2, and definitely won't be getting the third one. I shall be selling it soon as (can't sell apps, gr), along with my laptop, and getting the new MacBook air once it comes out. I'd most like to see an improved battery life, so it lasts as long as the iPad does (one of the iPads few benefits).
I personally would love a thunderbolt port on a Macbook Air because sometime in the future thunderbolt ports are bound to support external GPUs. In fact Sony already has incorporated this into one of their laptops.
@moomoomeal It'd be a huge shock if the next refresh doesn't support Thunderbolt, seeing as it uses the DisplayPort erm... port lol. It's already on there so it isn't like it needs any changes to the external design and they can retain their current tooling and so on. I'd say it's pretty much a given, although I'm not sure I can see Apple going down the external GPU rout like SONY have. It seems to totally and utterly defeat the purpose of the product category (ultra portable).
I would LOVE to see a dedicated video card inside the new Macbook Airs. If the new Sony VAIO S series can have a 1gig card in their 13' inch machines, I'm sure Apple has the way to shove one in their top-of-the-line Macbook Airs.
And since our technology of computers is shifting more towards the portability market; ultra-portable computers, I would love to (eventually) see the power of a Macbook Pro inside a Macbook Air.
AHH can anyone on here help me out? ive saved like 10 templates on pages(most recent one) and i cant find the my templates folder ANYWHERE, to delete them! please help ,
I'm desperate for another Mac without a screen attached that's under £800. This could be a Mac Mini, or a new product-it doesn't have to be small. It just needs to be as fast as an iMac i5/i7.This would suit me as a freelancer and all graphic design agencies that have their own monitors and (in the case of an iMac) don't want to let go of their computer when the screen fails to have it replaced, and fork out for the huge replacement bills. Mac pros are too expensive for me and my last company.
The most important upgrade I would like in the new MacBook Airs is killer graphics performance. The fact that they will have ULV Core i5 and i7 CPUs is all but confirmed, and an amazing GPU performance to go with it would be stellar!!!
The most important thing in a MacBook Air for me is thunderbolt. Over the next year or so, there will be a lot of port expansion using Thunderbolt and I want to be able to take advantage of that for the rest of the MBA's life, since I'll be keeping it for a good 4-5 years.
I think it would be quite cool if they made the macbook into like and ipod nano with a large choice of colours as i think a lot of people would go for it
Macbook Air needs bigger hardrives i think, i dont have one, i have an imac, but i was wanting a MBA but then i saw the hard drive capacity and it didnt suit me? Do you have any views on this? Please write back, :D
the number one thing i think any laptop should have is more battery life. the macbook pro's used to have ten hours of battery life and i tell you, it makes the biggest difference. i want a mobile computer that's light and portable (they've got that pretty much down), but it also needs to have the energy to be used on the trips. (and a backlit keyboard would be nice too)
The simple fact that Adobe can slash the price of Premiere Pro by 50% at the drop of a hat like that proves just how massively expensive it really is. Adobe are well known for charging far more than they should for their products, especially here in the UK (well, anywhere outside the US basically). They charge us $1000 MORE for the EXACT same software (Master Collection) in the UK than US for e.g.
@kirbyc11 Optical drives are about as thick as the whole Air, so it'd be pretty interesting and impressive if they managed it. Also optical media is all but dead for most consumers when it comes to computing. Beyond the OS install (not even that now) there's not much you'd use them for. The only thing I ever use optical media for on any of my computers is ripping CD's and that's about it. I even install the OS from a USB drive and have all my software on external hard drives.
hey! what are you selling your macbook air for in other words what should i sell mine for. it's a 13" baseline with NO scratches thanks to the invisible shield
i would love a retina display that it in my iphone 4 in my mac book air 11inch because with a 11inch screen the pixels seem to be vary large and it make going from reading text on my iphone to my mba dreadful.
@dirtbikekid1995 That would make the resolution larger than a 30" display with 2560 x 1600, and GPU's max out at that resolution per output, hence multiple monitors rather than one massive on with a huge resolution. The GPU would need insane amounts of VRAM for such a display.
I want either a bigger hard drive or a better processor, either one of those would definitely catch my eye when looking for a new laptop. Great Video!
You forgot to mention the Mac Pro which I expect to be updated, I think Apple has got early access to the new Xeons the same as it has done before.. They have updated the Mac Mini, Mac Pro, iMac all on the same day before with no key note. They did not have a key note when they introduced the totally redesigned Mac Mini last time.
@marksapollo Early access maybe. Not this early though. I'd be surprised if they're anywhere near ready for use outside of the test labs. Then there's the chipsets they require. Those things will likely be a fair way from being ready for prime time too. At the earliest I can see the Mac Pro being released at the end of this year, but the chances of them being updated with the new Ivy Bridge Xeons this month, are very low. It may happen, but it's more likely to not happen.
MID APPLE WEEKLY PODCAST - when you have just one picture in mid apple weekly podcast you should just make it an audio podcast because then i can lock my screen on iphone or ipad or ipod touch
I hope MBA will have Thunderbolt port, so people can hook it up to external monitor without buying additional accesories. also 15" model would be awesome
Apple should re vamp the MacBook with less power and therefore make it cheaper. Make it compete with £400-£500 laptop Market, that would really hurt HP,
Please Reply....do u think the macbook air will have a bump up in GPU because what i plan to do is to get a macbook air, install windows on it and then game on windows... and im quite skeptical that the intel hd 3000 graphics card has the ability to play games like Black Ops...Do you know if there will be a performance increase in the MBA? Thanks
I'd like to see some price drop since as you said Apple might remove the plastic MacBook from the lineup. And since the MBA is holding up so good perhaps even the MBP 13". I'd love to see the price then drop a little. Being a student right now I'd choose for the plastic MB simply because it's the cheapest. And backlit keyboard :L
I would just love to see a higher end processor in the MacBook air! I think if it would remain so thin and lightweight and it would have a better processor it would be way better for most people because yes Flash storage is awesome (I had the macbook air but it didn't have the processor power I needed it to have for school so I sold it and bought a macbook Pro WITH flash storage and a 750 GB 7200 RPM HDD)! It would be zippy and could do so much more intensive stuff too which would be awesome!
Do you have any thoughts or any idea if the LED Cinema display is gonna get a refresh? i'm buying a MBP soon and i want the cinema display with it? Do you think i should wait for a few weeks?
@samsimpson11 I'd love for them to make a non-glossy version of the thing. Do the same they do for the MacBook Pro's, remove the glass and put an aluminium bezel around it (they could do with a little better ventilation too, the heat can cause colour accuracy to fall). If they did that they'd become a designers best friend again like their old 23 and 30" models.
@micgamer16 The problem there is the GPU in the i series CPU's is pretty anaemic. That's why they kept with the Core 2 Duo's so long, because they needed OpenCL support (which they only added in the Sandy Bridge range) and the combination of the C2D and GeForce 320M chipset was far more power efficient with immensely superior graphics performance and capabilities than using the generation of i series CPU's available then. They'd need to use discreet (like the new MBP's) for decent GPU power.
It must have 4Gb RAM standard. It would sort of tie in with what apple are trying to Market lion as a a platform for multi tasking what with mission control etc.
The thing I want to see on the Macbook Air is the backlit keyboard. A backlit keyboard with that design will make the Air look way better. One more thing is to make the RAM standard to 4GB instead of 2GB. The flash storage to me it's fine as it is, for some, I know for sure they're not happy with the storage and want way more.
@JSantana319 yeah it was a huge downer for me coming from a backlit macbook pro to a macbook air. I hope they bring it back but with Apple its like - they never give you a 100% package, the idea is so you keep buying lol
@theunits3 They didn't have the backlit keyboard on the new AIr's because they couldn't fit one in. it was too thin for the engineers to manage it at the time. Since then I believe it's possible again, but at the time it was an engineering limitation rather than skipping something to make you buy the next one. Also they keys have a special coating on the letters that reflect light better than the regular keys, so in low light they show up better from the glare of the display or whatever.
If I was to buy a MBA then the processor and memory are the two things that need vastly improved. As I have a MBP 13" 2011, I see no reason to get an air.... but you never know!

@JSantana319 yeah it was a huge downer for me coming from a backlit macbook pro to a macbook air. I hope they bring it back but with Apple its like - they never give you a 100% package, the idea is so you keep buying lol
theunits3 8 months ago

Just to let you know, it's 'Adoby' not 'Adobe' when you say it ;). And what I would really want on the new MBA is a bigger screen.
