Our parents generation generally didn't have to work during studies, let alone more than one job AND taking out huge student loans. Plus it's a break of a promise to lower fees. Dexter asked a banker of all people how to help students. Students need financial pressure off of them. I know people who work round the clock to make money and keep in school, sacrificing academic integrity. I know people who can't afford school at all. We protest because we want Canada to have an educated population.
There's nothing wrong with showing up to show support. I showed up not really knowing the details of what was being protested, but I've heard people state their case that do know the details and I think that there arguments should be worth supporting and could use some numbers to back them. Hell I don't know anything about what's going on in Canadian government but I'd still march to support Canada. Does that make me in it for the wrong reasons?
Yes it does. Your simply a $hit disturber. I accept people are going to protests(for what I believe is a fairly petty cause and others may disagree I accept that). But do protests have to block traffic and disturb the common persons day who want to get home before the storm gets bad, No it doesn't. Dancing in the street with music and having a little rave on spring garden street does not send a strong message. Next time don't ruin someone else's day but simply display your message
@Tamimorbi There were some people who showed up just for the sake of protesting which bothered a lot of students because they weren't there for the right reasons. I guess you can never know how people will react in large group situations.
It was not a simple matter of $150.00. Please don't critique the efforts of 2000+ people when you don't know what the facts are. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but there is no way that many students would rally for such a minor cause. And just so you know, I have 3 jobs, don't vote NDP and am still struggling with student debt.
krew are you just copying and pasting your comment from video to video? know your facts first, it starts off at 3 or 4 percent, but it will go nowhere but up from there. and darrell dexter said that he was going to lower tuition because he knows what its like for a student to get out of college or university with a massive debt, when he was in opposition. its people like you who make this world what it is today.
Students discontent with an annual $150 increase? How materialistic western society is. People around the world are being killed fighting for freedom, yet you radicals, taking freedom for granted, are bothering others for a measly 150$. The time you spent protesting you could have made half of that tuition raise. Some advice: Go Study some math(because clearly you can't calculate the tuition raise), don't vote for the NDP(they've never done anything positive), or get a job and make some money.
@KrewProducti0ns This is more then just an annual $150 increase, it is also about the education cuts. I don't know about you but i do not want my university Professors to go on strike anytime soon. Let us also remember that is double for foreign students as well; we need to help any young mind coming to this country. This government promised to help, not hinder students from paying off debt. I'm protesting now, so I don't have to again when tuition goes up again.
It was a good way to spend the day when the University is closed. If the legislature wont hold the premier to account, we will at least attempt to. I don't know your background so I won't say much about what you SHOULD do. I don't know. Next time you should be a little more considerate when posting such bogus remarks.
