What's wrong with gamers.. They are full of shit about new stuff, stuff like "yes this looks like this, this copies this, this is shit MY game is better".. If you don't want to buy a new game there's nothing wrong with it.. But you don't have to justify yourself by making the new game sound like shit..
@topografer That is kind of what is wrong with everything. Don't focus on the gamers. Car makers are always doing the same thing, comparing their car to others and showing how much better theirs is and how bad the competitors are. TVs always compare themselves to other 'bad' TVs to make themselves look good.
It is just how marketing is done, I don't know why you'd focus so harshly on just one set of people that only sometimes does it.

They have such qualities as more guns, more maps, more skills, more quests, new item system, revolutionary controls, and end game raiding that will keep you in. Well about consoles you are partly right. I say partly because if not all, most people what they buy with a game a console is the games that are available for it.. Examples? Dreamcast was better than ps2, Saturn was better than ps1.. Sony's consoles won by miles because of the games.. So what i am say is correct i guess....

@topografer As for the reasons you enjoy something, you aren't doing it based off of an 'art' standpoint, you are doing it based off of what is entertaining to your personality. If you were doing it off of a strictly artistic standpoint, you WOULD look at the graphics, the technical aspects and features, and the new things it brings in. Artists don't just say 'This picture is cool', they analyze it for what makes it interesting, which is the same as what marketing campaigns do.

I can like an album no matter how cheap the production is or how simple the musical scales are.. Do something needs to be crystal clear soundind and dreamtheater-like complex to be likeable? If it touches me it just does.. A music album is a product too with some technical aspects and some that are not techinal at all

For the gameplay yes there are some aspects that could be the same for all games (like you said weapons end-game activity etc etc) But some asked me the other day why did i like Metal Gear Solid 1 gameplay.. I cannot wait for this game, although I am concerned that the engineer class will be overpowered like they are usually in games like this. The auto turrets are usually a really cheap weapon, but the force field wall looks cool.
@heronoki what global agenda doesn't have is higher skill cap for aiming - no recoil = not good for shooters, plus GA isn't so much fast paced as i would want it to be.

The humanoids are enemy NPC characters you fight in an open world. The pvp is sort of an e-sport side feature. The PVE combat is on a large massive scale with hundreds of players fending of towns from NPC, while PVP is smaller 6v6 deals. What i saw is fact.

Yeah, because Halo is a class-based shooter with a persistent open world and massive amounts of playstyle customization. I'd say that one of the few major games it *doesn't* draw inspiration from is Halo.. so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Team Fortress 2? Sure. Tribes? Obviously. World of Warcraft? Perhaps. But Halo? No. Anyway, Firefall actually takes elements from MANY other games/genres, and it's the way in which it combines them that makes it unique and fascinating.
It's not "PvE focused." They're putting equal work into BOTH aspects of the game, and they want people who only enjoy one or the other to get a lot out of the game. They actually built the PvP side first, so that they could balance the PvE against it and make both fun.
Yes, but you were saying that the game is "PvE focused." Which isn't true either. The lead designer on Firefall is Scott-Frickin'-Youngblood... PvP is going to be an equally-significant part of the game. Neither aspect is getting sidelined in favor of the other.
@velocitas I would say its PVE focused. As firefall was reveled as a PVE game. PVP wasn't even known about before the past months. There is though, a fast amount of more content in the PVE side than there is for PVP. Several missions and a huge open world campaign and invasions, compared ti 5 maps. I would say the game is PVE focused.
Revealed as a PvE game? Yet they've shown far more about the PvP. It doesn't matter what you say, either.. because the developers say otherwise (PvP and PvE are two sides of the same coin, they are going to continue developing both.) By the way, it sounds like you're setting unrealistic expectations for the size of the open world. How closely have you even been following this game?
Post a thread asking about this on the official forums if you don't want to believe me, JohnyRL. People who are looking forward to PvE will say "PvE." Those who want PvP will say "PvP." The developers themselves and players who like both will most certainly tell you that the focus is "both."

I cannot wait for this game, although I am concerned that the engineer class will be overpowered like they are usually in games like this. The auto turrets are usually a really cheap weapon, but the force field wall looks cool.

@heronoki what global agenda doesn't have is higher skill cap for aiming - no recoil = not good for shooters, plus GA isn't so much fast paced as i would want it to be.

@heronoki No its not. Its about the open world. The pvp is just a side feature. If you knew anything about the game youd know that. Its about the open world, deep story characters and coop campaign in an open world. The pvp is something for higher level "guilds"

This was originally a 3rd person game, so glad they've turned it into first person. Yet again, I'm proud there are plenty of good games on PC! Hopefully I don't get trolled for saying that like I did on Machinima, because they're all 14 year old kids :/

@nathanbeavin Ugh... Dude ive been following this game for over a year now. You've just hear of it. Im an exalted member of the forums. ITS PVE FOCUSED. The humanoids are enemy NPC characters you fight in an open world. The pvp is sort of an e-sport side feature. The PVE combat is on a large massive scale with hundreds of players fending of towns from NPC, while PVP is smaller 6v6 deals. What i saw is fact.

Yeah, because Halo is a class-based shooter with a persistent open world and massive amounts of playstyle customization. I'd say that one of the few major games it *doesn't* draw inspiration from is Halo.. so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Team Fortress 2? Sure. Tribes? Obviously. World of Warcraft? Perhaps. But Halo? No. Anyway, Firefall actually takes elements from MANY other games/genres, and it's the way in which it combines them that makes it unique and fascinating.

It's not "PvE focused." They're putting equal work into BOTH aspects of the game, and they want people who only enjoy one or the other to get a lot out of the game. They actually built the PvP side first, so that they could balance the PvE against it and make both fun.

Yes, but you were saying that the game is "PvE focused." Which isn't true either. The lead designer on Firefall is Scott-Frickin'-Youngblood... PvP is going to be an equally-significant part of the game. Neither aspect is getting sidelined in favor of the other.

@velocitas I would say its PVE focused. As firefall was reveled as a PVE game. PVP wasn't even known about before the past months. There is though, a fast amount of more content in the PVE side than there is for PVP. Several missions and a huge open world campaign and invasions, compared ti 5 maps. I would say the game is PVE focused.

Revealed as a PvE game? Yet they've shown far more about the PvP. It doesn't matter what you say, either.. because the developers say otherwise (PvP and PvE are two sides of the same coin, they are going to continue developing both.) By the way, it sounds like you're setting unrealistic expectations for the size of the open world. How closely have you even been following this game?

More excited for this than I have been for any game in recent history! Intense PvP instances, and epic PvE worlds, all combined into one gorgeous piece of work. What more could you want?! I think Firefall will really be setting the bar for Free-to-play shooters.
