guys to those posting in recent days, this video was created when 1 bitcoin was worth $20. They are only worth $3 now.. Mining creates a loss at the moment, do not bother.
@514009265 Doesn't that worry you at all? If this becomes a viable currency and threatens the federal reserve, you know what's going to happen right? The US government in investing in research on new CPUs that will make your intel 2500K look like a calculator. They can pretty much brute force into pretty much anything. Basically the nuclear weapon of brute force attacks. What do you think is going to happen with bitcoin then?
Yes, but because I KNOW the project will be successful I am keeping the coins. It's a high risk I am willing to take because the payout if I am right will be HUGE.
I like this risk the best because there is not 3rd party between me and my share that can MF Global me or a government that can nationalize my stocks with a push of a button.
If you can truly grasp the tech you will know it's as big as the invention of the internet, meaning it's uses are unlimited.
with 5Ghash/s you currently make 11.50/day....woopdie freakin doo...and solo you can expect to make even less considering when your block gets solved the exchange rate is going to be even worse....and that's on the U.S. dollar hahaha! the dollar is in the gutter. Sick waste of time, money, energy. Novel idea but seems unsustainable.
It seems that way to your because you can't think beyond to day or next month. I think in terms of 5, 10, 20 and 30 years not the day to day fluctuations, so I plan in such lengths of time.
Thus your waste of money is my great value. Just try not bitch when its expensive and you need it because that's what most people do say it aint fair that I saw value where when you saw waste!
@davincij15 I find that so retarded its sad, considering there is not enough information to make guesses about what will happen in a year with bitcoins let alone 5+ years. you want to hang on to them, go ahead it's your money, i'm just telling you real currencies cannot be so volatile.
@davincij15 I dont remember being insulting, calling someone's logic stupid is much different than calling them stupid. Obviously you're smart enough to look for different avenues of investment. However, my argument is sound, and i think you'll be sorely disappointed in the future. like i said, though it is your money and your choice.
If everyone did the same thing we would not have progress.
What is sad doing the same thing and expecting different results I earn high 6 figures so I can afford to do this not I did not get there lacking logic. I got here because I did things other people thought was not logical and their normalcy bias prevented them for seeing the obvious logic that is clear as day after success achieved.
Let me test your lack of obvious logic... if silver dropped 50% with no explanation no new news of major silver find or supply change would you buy it?
My guess is probably not, but I did when silver went from $21 to $8 today its $30ish off from the high of $50. The reasons to buy silver are easier to understand than bitcoins because it's historic and an absolute like gravity.
@davincij15 I understand where you are coming from and yes buy low sell high is the general logic to investment, however the math does not support your claims with bitcoins. looking at the trends the only place bitcoins will go in the long term is down. comparing silver and gold to bitcoins is a little outrageous as silver and gold have intrinsic value, bitcoins have none that people dont attribute to it. Simply put, bitcoins will never see 20 dollars again, save some grand intervening act.
@doluseb your mining bitcoins for profit is analogous to the people who moved west to mine/find gold...the first people there got rich, after that people could not find crap and were poor. The difference was, however that EVERYONE appreciated gold as it has intrinsic value...bitcoins on the other hand are only known to a select few and endorsed by even fewer. They may never die simply because of the novelty and the anonymity associated with them, but they will probably end up around 2 USD per.
This shows your complete total lack of understanding of what bitcoins are and shows your misinformed understanding of reality.

I wish I could convey my deep understanding of the currency called dollar, its complex but the best way I can describe it is you work for dollars and people who know the scam get it for free thus making you a slave since you do all the work and they just get free printed money to pay you.
Just read this from a former bitcoin "miner". "you are right, I discovered about a week ago that this rig was actually part of a very powerful botnet which was being used to hack into several banks on the East Coast. Most people would rather find a better way to gamble and win than to produce something of value. The age of the gamblers is coming to an end the next few decades will go to those that make things of value. I know you don't see the value in this, that's alright it's not ready yet.
@davincij15 Bitcoins are the exact same thing as a stock, they can be brought/sold and the price can be manipulated. The worst thing of all is that it had zero regulation, hence the amount of fraud it's attracting. The bitcoin market has been tanking for a long time, confidence in bitcoins is falling apart. Most people who brought bitcoins have lost money of they want to convert it back into their primary currency. It's a scam. They're currently trending down to being worthless.
bitcoins being bought and sold without regulations is the market, as there are cheats like yourself that use it to cheat others but that's not what it's for anymore than internet was used for child porn first. When new tech is invented it's abused but it's abusers do not represent the technology.
Confidence is being lost by speculators trying to get rich quick even I was mistaken that bitcoins could go up and up for ever this correction is need to reward the strong hands.
@davincij15 Yeah and we all know the fairy tail behind the internet stock bubble. Bitcoins are being sold off in vast qualities, they're basically worthless nobody is wanting to hold them. You're promoting a scam, and by the looks of things trying to single-handedly hold up a bogus currency. It's like some kind of auto surfing scam but worse.
I'm buying them not selling so I guess I'm the one being scamed. the reason I buy them is because I know as I have read the source code that it's not a scam.
There is a difference between knowing and believing, the believers are leaving those that know a discounted product. :)
@davincij15 Of course you're buying that's what a penny stock pumper does. You'd be an idiot not to get in on the "dead cat bounce", cream as much as you can while it lasts because it never does. Where's valuation coming from the fact that you can manipulate the price? It can't be the currency because it has no economic back bone. Last time I checked nobody is importing and exporting in in bitcoins.
Ok I am done with this conversation all you have is malis and hatred just walk away from bitcoins and never look back dude.
I don't agree with cemtrails and lockness monster but I don't go to forums and talk about it. In fact I spend no time thinking about anything I know is false.
The next negative thing you say will have you blocked.

and you would lose. As the math is available on the interment stating even in the highest energy state you are turning a profit. I happen to live in Canada where I pay 6 cents per KWh that happens to be lower than the lowest state.
Do you real think people who have money to do this are dumb? Really? You would have to believe that I am smart enough to build computer, install and configure the software but not smart enough to do some basic math.
@davincij15 Your ignorance is why bitcoins will fail. Bitcoins got hacked and droped the value down to under a penny a bitcoin. IT will happen again. That's why I got out of it.
25,000 Bitcoins were transferred from 478 accounts on the currency's largest exchange -- Mt. Gox. But that was just the beginning. Now Mt. Gox is admitting to a major breach and has shut down, in an unprecedented action. In all, approximately $8.75M USD worth of Bitcoins appear to have stolen
Yes but not as big and not until there is a bigger run up to 2300 in gold and 50+ in silver. JPM is at it again in the markets shorting the MoFo but will they succeed this time in keeping prices down? I don't know history shows they have never failed yet.
Tiger direct? They will shaft you if you ever pull the wrong card in that game of chance. They took me for $10 with a rebate and after reading more about them I never made a purchase again. Read read read up on companies before making big purchases.
Newegg goes above and beyond (such as replacing bad RAM that came with my mobo with better RAM, and a couple other cases I know of) to make sure their customers are happy. I'm sure there are a couple other honest vendors out there if you dig deep
Well then I think we should go back to pencils and paper and live like Amish and not improve humanity while we are at it.
Ever heard the saying "If IFs and BUTs where cherries and nuts we would all have a marry Christmas?" Well it works both in hide site and for site as you can't do nothing because of IFs and BUTs you must try try and try again to move forward.
@davincij15: on the other hand, I think the bankers and finance people came up with too much "innovative" means of creating money thus we have the financial crisis in 1985 (Japan), 1997 (Asian), 2002 (Mexico) ... Financial Crisis of 2008. the most recent time that the world didn't have enough money was in 1930.
The problem was not the lack of money it was where it was directed. You see if government starts funding and supporting bad ideas the money goes there causing fear from the rest of the public to save for when the government stops do the bad things but they did not stop for 10 years. The objective was to cause prices to rise cause more people to have less money should it rise thus it became a battle of savers vs government spenders the more spend the more saved for future price increases
hey guys, im just starting with all this bitcoin mining stuff, but unfortunately i only have nvidia cards =( if any of you guys can help please donate bitcoins to me, any amount helps...any bitcoins i get will go directly towards me buying a decent radeon card. thanks for reading
What a perfect waste of computational power. Why not do SETI at home... or Einstein@Home, MilkyWay@home, Folding@home, PlanetQuest, Primegrid, Rosetta@home or Systemic which is an amateur extrasolar planet search project. Any one of the afore mentioned projects is a million times more useful than mining idiotic Bitcoins.
Actually those other systems are a waste of computer power. The real problems in humanity is the bankers enslaving humanity via debt. All of those projects will fail if a banker stops funding them or a supplier of theirs. The banking industry has more power than I could explain to you and bitcoin is a solution to their control. Will it work? I don't know right know it's just a ant that bankers don't care about but once it gets bigger that's when we will see if it will survive.
@davincij15 While I'm with you on the Banksters thing... I'm still not with you on Bitcoin in terms of the methodology of mining... wasting GPU or CPU cycles to create bitcoins is a totally useless endeavor. You'd be better off just adding a percentage of coin per user added, divided by the whole number of users. Bitcoin if I understand is just an agreed upon medium of exchange, and the only value is one that everyone agrees on. So, you could say that 1,000 bitcoin = 1 wood chair or something.
I will give you a small example of the power of bankers...
Tesla invented a way to of transmitting energy though the air.
JP Morgan wanted to know "Where can I put the meter?" Tesla had no answer. So JP Morgan shut the project down.
You have the internet verify this story.
This is one of the many many examples where bankers shut down innovation that would prevent them from making money in the middle. They are the parasites of humanity and I will do anything to stop them.
@davincij15 I'm an electrical engineer by trade and I can tell you that there is no such thing as transmitting power through the air like you'd transmit radio, television or microwave signals. To get the amount of power to each home, you'd need to transmit so much energy that you'd cook all living things around the area in which you could collect enough energy to power the systems in your home. The Internet is full of this type of urban legend that is completely false.
Here is something I know for sure... We as a people don`t know everything.
Proof the Pantheon in Rome is built with a concrete mixture that has been lost to man. It still is the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world.
When technology is lost it's lost for good. And you or anyone else does not know everything about the universe and how it works.
So do I believe energy can be created cheaply YES I do.
Finally you mentioned you are an electrical engineer most likely educated at some top school. Ever think that the text books are wrong or have errors?
Nah.
Just like a business and finance major the text is an absolute thus when it says we need a central bank to keep prices stable and governments should spend money in an economic down turn that's 100% correct without question.
Glad I never went to school, I am able to think WAY outside the box.
Bitcoins can not be "switched off" at any times one of the MAIN reasons I support it.
I have purchased nothing except dollars with bitcoins so far but I can say the same with silver I have purchased nothing with silver. However I have sold silver for bitcoins so I guess I have purchased bitcoins with silver.
You are making false associations of bitcoin with debt based centralized currency. They are night and day and one will destroy the other.
I believe that bitcoins are going to change the world. I recommend that everyone read up about them. If you are interested in buying/selling bitcoins, I personally use and recommend TradeHill - they have lower fees than the main exchange (mtgox), and their website seems more professional IMHO.
Also, I have a code that will get you 10% off trading fees there for life: TH-R1168
I am xanderdee and your rude statement will not get a response because 1 I don't play games and 2 you use imaginary money right now with dollars in your bank account. What you don't know is that Gold and Silver is money, but that's beyond your comprehension since all you know about money is that you can buy something at Walmart.
Well I use to think that as well but I took the time to study what money is. You would do well if you took the time to do so. Google: Money as debt
@spankMAbooTAY Asking questions isn't researching. Finding sources of data is researching. Terrible grammar, constant swearing, and namecalling.. all the while saying we're all acting like we're 6. Definitely not a way to get help.
Bitcoin is not a corporate invention that has money and power to influence government. It's value comes from it's ability to limit the number of bitcoins. This is something the government, banks and corporations do not want thus they are making their own "Credit" system like google Credits and Fasebook Credits. Go scream at them.
Bitcoin was created for everyday people by everyday people and thus it will be crushed by governments, banks and corporations.
Lower the caps or I will not respond to your comments and delete them.
Yes you can buy pizza and shoes if you look you will find places to do this with bitcoins. I will not show you because you have made up your mind and you are not interested.
Bitcoin is paypal's worst knightmeare the will not let you buy and sell them as a business. Just wait until you need to buy something with bitcoins don't bother to learn anymore than that.
@tuzmor nope. Either you're jealous or simply brain dead (no offense :D) 5850 uses ~180w. There are 16 cards- 16*180=2880w. It will be 2880*24*30=2073600w/h=2073,6kw/h /month. Approximate cost of electricity in usa is 0.15$/kwh so 2073,6*0,15=311$/month on electricity. But with 5ghash/s you earn 1552$/month (with current difficulty and btc prices). 16 5850 at 139$ is 2224$. Now the best times of mining are gone. Imagine what this guy earned 2 months ago. At least 3000$/month
The are designed to do mathematical calculations a lot faster than a CPU. A CPU does instructions faster and that is different than from a math problem.
@tuzmor - I don't think he's budgetted for his income tax bill either! - so much enthusiasm but so little research and common sense!; but he's boosting the ecconomy spending all those dollars on computer hardware and once the IRS catch up with him, he will be selling his home to help pay off the national dept...perhaps we need more like him!
heheh i just setup 2 miners each have 3 x 6990's so for the 2 miners I am getting just under 4000 MH/s, the systems still needs tweaking to crack the 2000 MH/s each, but im scared to touch it while it running fine
also at the current value of btc electricity costs are less than 10% of the earnings.
let me give you an example. Lets assume you'r mining with 2 x 5850, this rig would consume about 500-600 watt, or 1-1.2 kw/hour every 2 hours, thats about 1.2 euro per day where i live. Buts thats nowhere close the 35-40 usd/day at the current usd/btc rates.
you cant fit all cards into 1PC so actually isnt better use 6990? even if 5850 itself looks like more efficient per WATT but you need add WATTs from other devices like Motherboard, fan collers, Rams, HDDs.. so its pretty much destroy 5850 in multiple computers watt ratio and few 6990 seems to have better overall (all devices inside multiple computers) ratio

WeLoveTranceOrg 5 months ago
@WeLoveTranceOrg
bitcoins being bought and sold without regulations is the market, as there are cheats like yourself that use it to cheat others but that's not what it's for anymore than internet was used for child porn first. When new tech is invented it's abused but it's abusers do not represent the technology.
Confidence is being lost by speculators trying to get rich quick even I was mistaken that bitcoins could go up and up for ever this correction is need to reward the strong hands.
davincij15 5 months ago
@davincij15 Yeah and we all know the fairy tail behind the internet stock bubble. Bitcoins are being sold off in vast qualities, they're basically worthless nobody is wanting to hold them. You're promoting a scam, and by the looks of things trying to single-handedly hold up a bogus currency. It's like some kind of auto surfing scam but worse.
WeLoveTranceOrg 5 months ago
@WeLoveTranceOrg
I'm buying them not selling so I guess I'm the one being scamed. the reason I buy them is because I know as I have read the source code that it's not a scam.
There is a difference between knowing and believing, the believers are leaving those that know a discounted product. :)
davincij15 5 months ago
@davincij15 Of course you're buying that's what a penny stock pumper does. You'd be an idiot not to get in on the "dead cat bounce", cream as much as you can while it lasts because it never does. Where's valuation coming from the fact that you can manipulate the price? It can't be the currency because it has no economic back bone. Last time I checked nobody is importing and exporting in in bitcoins.

Ok I am done with this conversation all you have is malis and hatred just walk away from bitcoins and never look back dude.

MekF 7 months ago
@MekF
The problem was not the lack of money it was where it was directed. You see if government starts funding and supporting bad ideas the money goes there causing fear from the rest of the public to save for when the government stops do the bad things but they did not stop for 10 years. The objective was to cause prices to rise cause more people to have less money should it rise thus it became a battle of savers vs government spenders the more spend the more saved for future price increases
davincij15 7 months ago
@MekF
Once prices fall people send because their savings is not for just saving it's for spending when the price is right thus causing economic activity!

PatriotsRepublic 7 months ago
@PatriotsRepublic
I don't know right know it's just a ant that bankers don't care about but once it gets bigger that's when we will see if it will survive.
davincij15 7 months ago
@davincij15 While I'm with you on the Banksters thing... I'm still not with you on Bitcoin in terms of the methodology of mining... wasting GPU or CPU cycles to create bitcoins is a totally useless endeavor. You'd be better off just adding a percentage of coin per user added, divided by the whole number of users. Bitcoin if I understand is just an agreed upon medium of exchange, and the only value is one that everyone agrees on. So, you could say that 1,000 bitcoin = 1 wood chair or something.
PatriotsRepublic 7 months ago
@PatriotsRepublic
They are the parasites of humanity and I will do anything to stop them.
davincij15 7 months ago
@davincij15 I'm an electrical engineer by trade and I can tell you that there is no such thing as transmitting power through the air like you'd transmit radio, television or microwave signals. To get the amount of power to each home, you'd need to transmit so much energy that you'd cook all living things around the area in which you could collect enough energy to power the systems in your home. The Internet is full of this type of urban legend that is completely false.
PatriotsRepublic 7 months ago

Here is something I know for sure... We as a people don`t know everything.
Proof the Pantheon in Rome is built with a concrete mixture that has been lost to man. It still is the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world.
When technology is lost it's lost for good. And you or anyone else does not know everything about the universe and how it works.
So do I believe energy can be created cheaply YES I do.
davincij15 7 months ago
@PatriotsRepublic

IKillerPieI 8 months ago
At least 3000$/month

galviancrush 8 months ago
a single 6990 cost more than 5 x 5850...
also at the current value of btc electricity costs are less than 10% of the earnings.
let me give you an example.

I have 4 5850 per computer at 150 each. Thus 1 6990 cost more than 4 5850s.
davincij15 8 months ago
you cant fit all cards into 1PC so actually isnt better use 6990? even if 5850 itself looks like more efficient per WATT but you need add WATTs from other devices like Motherboard, fan collers, Rams, HDDs.. so its pretty much destroy 5850 in multiple computers watt ratio and few 6990 seems to have better overall (all devices inside multiple computers) ratio
