I'm 27 yo. It's 1st of January 2012. I was siting in my boxers, drinking coffe, working some stuff for tomorrow, browsing through youtube, totally bored. Seen this and f***ng cried.
So Beautiful, wonderful dancers and great music my Sister has Downs she is so loving and kind and has a wonderful sense of humour she has enriched our lives, and I have a big lump in my throat and a tear in my eye watching this, thank you for uploading God Bless
It is a few years since it was released now and I heard it the first time, but I still feel it's the most beautiful song ever written. That's how much I worship Sigur Ros and this song and all the other songs! : )
simply breathtaking..i was grown up in sri lanka n never heard any post rock only indian classical , got to uk at 18... With in a year i could not stop listenning these guys... awesome songs and heart touching videos.. This is 100000000000 better than watching a lady with a big bum dancing on a video... Go Sigur Ros
so surreal...not from his earth ... i really love to listen this song and watch the video... it stopped your world, feels like you are in nowhere...but peace fill into your mind
I wasn't familiar with down syndrome until I started college recently, and in a school full of strangers the first person to talk to me suffered from it. And I couldn't help but admire their beautiful mind.
(English Lyrics) I’m Here Again Inside You It’s So Good Staying Here But I Stay A Short While I Float Around In Underwater Hibernation In A Hotel Connected To The Electricity Board And Nourishing Tyoowoohoo But The Wait Makes Me Uneasy – I Kick The Fragility Away And Shout – I Have To Go - Help Tyoowoohoo I Explode Out And The Peace Is Gone Bathed In New Light I Cry And I Cry - Disconnected A Ruined Brain Put On Breasts And Fed By Sleepwalkers
if i could take the human race and wrap it up into a ball of grace and put a ribbon on its face and throw it out into the universal space then i know for sure as the universe examines and explores that love and wonder and beauty and strength will dance with us forever in this sentence.
lyrics "m Here Again Inside You Its So Good Staying Here But I Stay A Short While I Float Around In Underwater Hibernation In A Hotel Connected To The Electricity Board And Nourishing Tyoowoohoo But The Wait Makes Me Uneasy I Kick The Fragility Away And Shout I Have To Go - Help Tyoowoohoo I Explode Out And The Peace Is Gone Bathed In New Light I Cry And I Cry - Disconnected A Ruined Brain Put On Breasts And Fed By Sleepwalkers" <3 Mr Medicated
I've been listening to Sigur Ros for a long time but I've never watched any of their music videos. So far this one and the one for Hoppipolla are the only ones I've watched and they've both managed to almost bring me to tears of joy, just as the music does. Absolutely beautiful. I guess that's why Sigur Ros is one of my favorite bands.
So beuautiful....I truly pity the cretins who cant see how beautiful and inncent the people in the video are...they are real svefn-g-englar...angels of the universe...the idiots mocking them and too blinded by ignorance, stupidity or callousness to see...they are the "retards."
i love this song, it never fails to cheer me up, i just love how it can mean anything i want it to because i don't understand the lyrics so it can really send me anywhere
this song makes me happy :) listen to it when you're sad and it just makes all those worries wash away becuase it is one of those songs which can mean anything you want it to.
hey, does anybody remeber this song from Queer as Folk? it was at the ending credits on episode 2 season 2, after that sex scene between brian and Justin. Just asking, cause for me that song made this scene very beautiful and touching. I fell in love with this track since then, and I can't stop listening to it.
The problem I have after discussing with my fiance is that this video seems a little exploitive and idealizing of developmentally disabled people. It's like we are trying through idealization to marginalize these people in a way that is just as bad as if we were to make fun of them. The issue I have is that instead of making them human, we are making them "special" it seems like two sides of the same coin. These are just people with the same imperfections and difficulties.
@cherebh I think the concept of the video has to do with the purity and goodness of those with disabilities, that we can not achieve as mentally healthy individuals.
@ Radical: I think your comment is very interesting, i think from my perspective, that it is a problem of sensibility. In occidental consumer society. This video could be used by the commercial media, but artisticly it has a value independently that the performers are shunned by society for their condition.
I remember first hearing this song on an episode of C.S.I., in the episode a woman that was into the bondage lifestyle ends up dead and the main character Grissom (who studies human behavior) cleans up the body set to this song.
After seeing that, I just had to find out what this song was. This is quite an amazing music video. Seeing all the happy people together in it, I can only describe them as Blissfully Beautiful.
In my mother language, Afrikaans (South Africa), we have a word for down syndrome people: "Hemelkinders". Directly translated it means "Children of Heaven"... This sums up in words what I think Sigur Ros displays (for me).
@ Radical: I think the artist was effective all the way, it is art because watching the video conveys a sublime feeling. This was acheived through the combination of the music, the lighting and yes the actors with special needs that give the video an innocent quality which typical models would not be able to deliver in the same way. Its not fair to think of them as pretentious because they used these actors. Maybe you were not moved by the video and thats ok too, we are all different.
I don't mean to insult anyone but I feel like this is only considered "art" because it "shakes the beehive" so to speak. I don't understand how this is "empowering" or anything. Is it because it's a mainstream music video featuring people usually hidden away?
That sounds pretentious to me. I'm pretty sure that this was cringe-worthy for many. Is that the intention? Wouldn't a good artist try to be more effective?
I'm just looking for a civil rebuttal... Can someone enlighten me?
@radicalgarbage02 I don't think the artist was necessarily trying to be "effective" in any objective measure. I think that, like a lot of art, it's hard to pinpoint what the artist is trying to say or whether or not they are trying to say something at all. All we can know is how it makes us feel as individuals, and I think the artist succeeded in making us all feel something. I could be wrong, but the beauty of it is that it doesn't matter who's right or wrong when it comes to art.
@radicalgarbage02 I'm not watching this looking for a political intervention. I'm watching this because it is one of the most touching things I've ever seen.
If you're too disenchanted to appreciate it, then I'm very sorry for you.
@radicalgarbage02 I don't believe this video is just trying to shake the beehive, although I can understand your perspective. I personally think the use of people with disabilities, especially the use of people with Down's, was brilliant. People with Down's tend to be loving, pure, innocent, and kind - all things which the song itself brings to mind. A song as pure and almost "heavenly" as this deserves nothing less than to be portrayed through dance by "God's children".
@radicalgarbage02 this video has special significance for societies such Iceland. If you went there you would be surprised at the rarity of people with problems such as Down Syndrome, because a large number of people choose to terminate pregnancies where genetic abnormailities have been detected. This video seeks to celebrate these differences, to show that these ARE PEOPLE and are capable of artistic endeavour, valid human beings with a right to life.
Me hizo llorar. No inmediatamente, terminé de ver el video y sólo me sentí conmovido. Me quedé sentado frente al monitor y la emoción empezo a hacerse más y más intensa. Traté de resistirme pero se volvió insoportable y empecé a llorar.
Wow, props to Sigur Ros. I knew they were amazing, but I didn't know they had a video showing that special-needs people are indeed beautiful as the rest of us wish we were.
i like how far back the vocals are in the mix, there should be more of that. I suppose, English fans of Sigur Ros don't find the lyrics to be the most important thing anyway (...) and they never were. Music is the most important thing in music, good lyrics are just an added bonus.
@catscanboy its in icelandic. But theres nothing called vonlenska. it was just made up by media to put a name on siguros´s vocals. They were just showing people that you dont need lyrics to speak music. Its compleatly universial, music is just sounds that make you feel good :) that was the message.
I commend everyone for standing up against ignorant comments. Too often people have to face this ignorance in their daily lives. They should not have to face it while watching this beautiful and empowering video. Sad people love to get their hate out when they have the comfort of their anonymity. They are just sad people who are so lonely that they seek attention by any means necessary. Thanks to all who stand up for all those with disablities!!
Oh I love it, I bet they had a ball making this, Down's love drama, and are somewhat drama queens in life, for every up there's a downs, epic and very extra. I do find it uneasy to call them angels, they have no free passes to anywhere and aren't god's chosen children, or any of that crap. They are though very loving and pure of heart, when i go home my darling sister wraps herself right around me and whispers in my ear, like we did as kids, me and her secret whispers. I love her to her bones.
Every part of this song and video is absolutely beautiful. It some how changes the way I think and feel. It sent shivers through me and I had a cry. 8:00 I love this bit, just the way she looks at him and they automatically connect. Amazing.
@WhyYouJelly i guess YOU are the RETARD for calling them like this... We are humans, doesnt matter the colour of our skin, our religion, our faces, or notthing at all... we all have a heart, we all have fellings, and thats whats matter!... nothing else... this retards, as you call them... probably have even MORE FELLINGS that you have...
I cry like a baby when i watch this. Is there anything more beautiful? Even a person who is proven clinically dead inside would no doubt feel SOMETHING stir. Definately one of those unique little gems one stumbles across from time to time that really helps put things into perspective.
se expresa tanta libertad en este video, tanta felicidad, tan sencilla....es asombroso!!! que buen video, que buena cancion, nada que decir, sigur ros es maravilloso...
I used to have a friend who was down...I was just 10 at the time...and I remember particularly his sister who was 2 years younger than me and him...I remember her love and responsability for her brother...and I remember her grace...so YES I think a down person can really change people in a better way...I hoper they are both fine now..
I was hanging out with some friends long time ago and we were smoking marijuana and we were cruising and relaxing, and then this song comes on my ipod, and let me tell you we all had a spiritual experience or something, we were all quiet my friend next to me had his eyes closed, and i was just looking out in the window, for 10 minutes straight we were listening and thinking and we all felt like our minds were somewhere else once we came to our senses we all looked at each other in shock, amazing
I smoked a joint with Jonsi outside of the Warfield in 2000. It was one of their first trips to San Francisco and I was outside at the side of the building, looking at their tour bus. The door opened and out stepped Jonsi with a crazy ass haircut, a tuft of hair near the front of his head with everything else shaved. He didn't speak much English but I held the joint out to him and he leaned up against the wall and smoked while we pantomimed and chatted until some stagehand told him to come in.
@exmortis I had hoped to have the pleasure of meeting the band after their Feb. 2006 performance in Kansas City, but unfortunately I wasn't in their fan club. I hung around afterwards anyway, and before their manager told me to leave (I just wanted to greet & get autographs, but he wouldn't budge), Jonsi stepped out from their dressing room and was kind enough to say hello & shake hands with me. In the hundreds of concerts I've seen over the last 40 years, that one remains in my Top 5.
I saw this in Germany in 2001. I passed by a store with a wall of TV's facing out to the street. It was night and the store was closed, but this was playing on all of the TV's with the sound coming out on external speakers. I was mezmorized. I haven't thought of it for years and just now thought to look for it on Youtube.
they're using mentally handicapped people to represent these people's 'angel' like spirits and purity. The music, like the video, is angelic, dreamy and positive! Sigur Ros est tres fort pour ce genre de music , comme Saeglopur !
@denishubin what are you talking about? the artistic edge given by the director isnt caught in actual speed. you dont absorb that freedom and form and elegance and essence at regular speed.
Absolutely beautiful! I love this song and this video! Kinda reminds you that there is so much more to life, than just living day to day-absoulutely stunning!!
These people will tell you they are proud of who they are, unfortunatly people need to put these 'special' people in a 'special' spotlight, not because they are who they are but because some people need to emphasize that they are 'special' and so they are treated that way. it's self contradictive.
those ppl tend to have most clear and beautiful aura around their bodies... they are purely good and honest.. honestly, ...world is greedy, full of lies and conspiracy..jelousy and sins.. and from this point of view there is something really wrong wit us..
This is art. But think for a moment that science is in its way to eliminate this syndrome. Will it be losing a paradise or erasing a disease? Punishing or releasing? It's the question this song poses to me.
There is a beauty hidden in frailty, and music has been the best one to show it to us so far, but nature just doesn't seem to know how to cope with it. Contradicting that is being human, or simply stubborn? I have no answer (neither am I a hater), but the questioning scares me...
I work with the developmentally disabled.. sometimes I find myself thinking "it isn't fair.. why them and not me?" but this video makes me forget about all of that. EVERYONE is here for a reason.
Most people might see the actors in this as mentally disabled, but here they aren't. The music played is a perfect example of art blurring any line of segregation and uniting us all as beautiful listeners of the wonderful medium!
the voice is so beautifull, when i hear it some how my mind calsm down, all the shit going on in the world and in my life taking me down, just doesnt matter anymore, like there is a higher power.. in no way am i a beliver iin religion but with music like this, how can there NOT be somthing? its like when ever thigns flow away from me, i turn on sigur ros and there's somthing in the back of my head telling me, its going to be alright, keep fighting, were gonna be alright Will. fucking amazing
I would like to screen this video at our children's film festival. Asheville International Children's Filmn Festival, Nov. 1-14, 2010. Please contact me at info@aicff.org.
The people in this video are angels on earth!

Amazing.

I cry like a baby when i watch this. Is there anything more beautiful? Even a person who is proven clinically dead inside would no doubt feel SOMETHING stir. Definately one of those unique little gems one stumbles across from time to time that really helps put things into perspective.

Radiohead and Sigur Ròs are the opposite sides of a coin. Radiohead is the saddest one, Sigur Ròs the happiest one. Or vice-versa sometimes.

they're using mentally handicapped people to represent these people's 'angel' like spirits and purity.

These people will tell you they are proud of who they are, unfortunatly people need to put these 'special' people in a 'special' spotlight, not because they are who they are but because some people need to emphasize that they are 'special' and so they are treated that way. it's self contradictive.

those ppl tend to have most clear and beautiful aura around their bodies... they are purely good and honest.. honestly, ...world is greedy, full of lies and conspiracy..jelousy and sins.. and from this point of view there is something really wrong wit us..
video is absolutely wonderful..
irenakolek 1 year ago 3

EVERYONE is here for a reason.
valerieturrentine 1 year ago 2
Most people might see the actors in this as mentally disabled, but here they aren't. The music played is a perfect example of art blurring any line of segregation and uniting us all as beautiful listeners of the wonderful medium!
