My daughter is 21 mths and we've taken away the stairgate as it caused more problems that not having it. I've taught her to come down the stairs on her bottom ... but still am cautious letting her go up and down.

Anyway... babies are made in such a way that a fall doesn't really harm them-for example, remember that baby recently that was picked up by a tornado and carried a few hundred yards and dropped in the muddy grass - and was FINE! lol
