This gun should be treated like a shotgun since it was designed for tank crews and speical forces (breaching and clearing). The 32 acp is great for close range. All you have to do is be accurate. This gun is made for shooting across fields (open ranges), not for things behind cover. So use it correctly, and it can be devastating(the semi automatic is not good for home defesne, but the automatic, is.)
@bradenmouse1 - 7.62x39 sucks so bad that Russian after seeing the performance of the 5.56mm dumped the AKM in 7.62x39 and replaced it with the russian version of the 5.56mm called the 5.45x39. and to break your little heart even more, the Russians have been using the 5.45x39 longer than the used the 7.62x39.
@sabbath465 - for one thing you think its based on performance, and it's not, you don't use 5.45 in an area where they use 7.62x39. the report is not the same and the brass is not the same. you want to use the same report and brass at times to confuse the enemy (5.56 vs 7.62x39 do not sound anything alike) but in combat the 5.56mm is light years better than the 7.62x39. far better to stay on target and double the effective range . also the AK has poor sand reliability - forget the propaganda
@bradenmouse1 - the new issue 5.56 has better penetration than the 7.62x51 (308). the 7.62x39 and the 5.45x39 have terrible wound ballistics (ability to have a quick kit), but the 5.56 has always performed well in that area. the old means was using velocity to cause the yaw to make the round explode in tissue, but the M4 lost the needed vel at long range (the M4 was short range only), but now the round works without the high vel, so they can use the M4 at long range.
@weaponeer I'm not quite sure what you mean to say when you state "new issue 5.56 has better penetration than the 7.62x51 (308)." Sorry, I don't buy it. Thats almost like saying some version of 7.62x51 has "better penetration" than .300 Win Mag. The laws of physics just don't allow it. Which new issue 5.56 are you talking about?
Also, the 5.56 has most certainly NOT always performed well when it comes to ballistic damage against soft targets. Somalia is the example used nowadays.
@smc3917 - You need to brush up on your ammo, weapons and physics because .22 LR tends to penetrate more layers of kevlar than the 44 Mag. The reason is it's smaller dia is more efficient in penetration. The new M855A1 has a steel “stacked-cone” penetrating tip. SOCom and the USMC are using the new MK 318 MOD 0 5.56mm Open Tip Ammunition (aka “SOST”). as for Somalia, you can hit a buck point blank with a 12 slug and it will still run away. Ammo performance and death are not the same
@weaponeer@weaponeer I wasn't contesting a 12 gauge slug vs. a deer. I was stating that 5.56 isn't any better a man-stopper than 7.62x39 or 5.45 (which has a much better ballistic coeff AND sectional density than 5.56) for that matter. That's why the excellent 6.5x55 Swede can and has taken many a large game. The 5.45x39 somewhat resembles the 6.5, only smaller.
.22 LR penetrates more kev than .44 Mag? Likely story!!!
@smc3917 The point with the 12 ga example is no matter what the caliber, range, and target, sometimes adrenalin alone can make it seem like the ammo was not affective. unless you shut the target down by by effective the nervous system. both the 5.45x39 and the 7.62x39 have the same Terminal ballistics, and frankly it's poor. and the 5.45 is nothing like the 6.5. I shoot two 6.5 calibers. 6.5 Grendel and 6.5x47 Lapua ( both rifles I built). study Terminal ballistics before commenting.
@smc3917 as for your post on the 22 shooting a vest. first off I was talking layers of kevlar, and when talking .22 vs .429 the .22 penetrates more layers than the .429 (common knowledge). the video you pointed out was questioning if the .22 would penetrate a vest, yet I was talking getting through more layers than the .429, which obviously means the .22 will not go through the vest. (I was an Ammunition and Explosives Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Pentagon, and I'm uninterested in BS.
That is a super cool little gun! If I didn't live in Screw Jersey, where mag capacity is limited to 15 rounds, I would definitely get one. Fortunately, I plan to get out of this state within the next few years.
I can attest to the uselessness of the 9mm. I have a law enforcement and military background. One example in particular; My partner was carrying a 9mm while off-duty. He encountered a would-be robber in a conv.store. The armed man turned and fired. My partner returned fire striking the subject in the chest. The suspect escaped and ran several blocks before collapsing. After being treated in the hospital, it was discovered that he was shot through the heart. He recovered completely, now in jail.
think about how many people get hit with those and do die...ive seen one shot kills with a 9mm through the chest...its a good cartridge, the .45 has been known to bounce off skulls, do you think that happens every time? NO
@roth0211 - thats the problem with the 9mm. It transfers hardly any energy to the target. no energy transfer = not enough shock to the nerves to stop the fight. Thats why all the 9mm's have a High Cap Mag. You need all that ammo to drop the target for good. too many people have been shot 17 or more times with 9mm and lived, and you can never trust 9mm to expand. the good thing about 45 ACP is it will never shrink.
@dukenukemthreed - the Nazi's never complained because the were shot by 45's lol. I used the M3A1 in the Army, and while fun, I'll take the M1928 over it anyday. Seals typically don't use 9mm (they were normalyy using 45's just not to long ago). all special forces have a much larger selection of weapons to choose from. as for shot placement, the only shot placement in combat is center mass. there no time for anything else. in most cases you don't even have time for sights in CQB
I have never shot a handgun at someone (though I have had a Glock pulled on me) but I will bet you that 2 124gr projectiles going to the same general area will match 1 200gr 45 ACP in terms of killing a bastard, 8 round mag vs 15- round mag.
The 9mm may not end the show with 1 round but if your rifle failed I bet the pistol that you fire more + reload less often is going to look real friendly, saying that SCREW THE BERETTA, i have no clue why the army picked that piece of scrap.
Number one.. The only country that typically loads hotter than the US, is CZ ammo, which runs at a higher PSI than NATO. rather than reading from a book and guessing at the FPS, a personally chronographed my weapon with off the self ammo. The spread was around 30 FPS, an the Avg was from 15 rounds. If you know anything about shooting and/or reloading you will know that the temp will affect the speed, and it was the middle of winter and extremely cold.
Skorpion 61 is an "little friend in need." For example one moment from real life. Try run cca 70 -100 m and than shooting away move target on 30 -40 m distance. With Glock or CZ75, or Colt 1911 is it very hard to have good effect in this situation. With skorpion You will be probably succesful in this case (and You cant be profi).
Hahaha could you imagine 1000 rpm you would be done before you started. And I wonder why they didnt chamber it in the 7.62x25 that would be neat, especially if they gave it a little heavier barrel and a little longer barrel and maybe a foregrip. 5/5
I think the 800 to 1000 RPM kind of makes up for the low power and fair accuracy. Accualy, the major problem I have with it is you run out of ammo in just a second or two of fire.
thats why its still after almost half century commercial succes..moron, you dont know what youre talking about. this gun can be kept in belt holster and still effective to 75-150 meters
VZ.68 was prototype. From vz.68 is derivated CZ 361 or škorpion 9x19, but im not sure, where is for buy( semi auto CZ91). Prodiction was stopped. Now is ready for production new Škorpion EVO 3 and škorpion(same size as vz.61) as "assault rifle" in 5.56x45....
The weapon is one badass mofo...It shhoots very well for such a small caliber it will provide the required mission damage. easy to carry and easy to personalized/modify to your shooting taste.
you can have the .380 vz61 skorpian in canada with the folding stock (all .32's are prohibited, so we've got to settle with the .380 version). people don't realize that we can have the brugger & thomet tp9 with the foregrip and folding stock (same with the famae saf mini which is not in the states). we can get them at 18, rather than age 21. all .25's and anything with a barrel length less than 4.14"(105mm) is prohibited. we can't have ak's, but we can have the vz58s. 50 round .22's are allowed
gonna b ordering 1 of these in a week, are they worht the money? any malfunctions I should be warey of? is it a Jam-o-matic that neds tuning? or is it ready to rock out of the box? please let me know as soon as possible thanx,
They run pretty good with no known jamming issues that I know of other than some of them do not like hollowpoints all that much. mine shoots them fine, others do not. Ball ammo works perfect.
If you judge guns through videogames you obviously know nothing about guns. The FAMAS sucks in most games too but its a nice gun in real life, what kind of logic is that?
accuracy depends on how it's judged. can the shots stay within the x ring at 25 yards? no really.. the stock sights are far from target sights, so it's not going to get great accuracy, but would it keep most of the rounds into the head of a zombie at 25 yards? Yes (it's all up to the shooter. I shoot my stock Jericho 40 SW out to 200 yards. someone else may have a hard time hitting a target at 15 feet.. lol)
Have you ever started talking about guns when someone pissed you off?? If not, you should hahah. You're the man thanks for all the great info. I want your guns :)
I just bought one of these for $730. I had to buy one because I loved it in COD4. It is fun to shoot and the recoil is low. I had a lot of problems with it at first because the bolt would not close properly after firing a shot. I had to take it apart and give it a thorough clean...now it works great. I recommend it if you have the cash, but it is not a must have!
but an ak does not fit in a holster on your hip.. lol (I get the point... but if you are collecting it realy does not matter. in my case I have more than a "one" ak style rifles)
i just started using this weapon in cod4 multiplayer. every1 thinks its a piece of shit, but when u figure out how 2 use it, it totally dominates. especially with the sleight of hand perk. i leave a trail of bodies in my wake.
My friend and I do that. And you are absolutely correct. This thing destroys. The KING of CQB. I'm getting the airsoft Skorpion soon, it looks awesome.
yeah it is amazing. i got red tiger with it in like 2- 3 hours! its so accurate and it has little recoil, but the only thing i don't like is the reloading after every kill
Yes he using dual in fight before elevator scene. Next is Skorion (But vz64 in 9mm Browning, has direct magazine) in III part of trilogy, where Trinity has silver berreta 92 FS.
The 32 ACP is on the low end for performance at under 900 FPS in the skorpion but frankly the 9mm is not a great performer as far as takedown power either. The idea was if you hit someone with a number of rounds the total shock value makes up for the smaller round. The smaller round allowed lower recoil and better control, and worked better with Suppressors.
Your answers are the best I've read in a long time. The Skorpion would definitely be ideal for a zombie holocaust but would likely be better used if on semi-auto. Great vid btw.
European .32 (7.65) is much hotter than puny USA loads. Also, are all the millions of people who have been killed by the 9mm since 1908 aware they were done in by a "not great performer"?
@craigdamage - You mean europe that bans guns with mass collections? If you think they load hotter there then you are greatly mistaken. And remember the US military does not use 32 ACP so you cannot compare it to other military ammunition.
@craigdamage - as for 9mm. The reason why nearly every 9mm pistol has a high cap mag is because you need all the ammo you can get to TRY to stop someone. It's not that its no great performer, it's a pathetic man stopper, and you will get faster results if you beat someone over the head with the pistol. over penetration, little expansion, not much energy imparted on the target. The military hates the 9mm for all those reasons. great weapon if you don't intend to kill someone.
Why is the 9mm used? It's a NATO round you moron. How about you name the standard US SMG still issued? I'll give you a hint... it's not 9mm
The US dropped the 45 ACP not from performance, but from ease of resupply. the 9mm SMGs work the same way the the pistols do. you shoot them enough times they bleed to death.
More people have been shot by the 9mm and lived than any pistol round in world hostory. I could point to many people who were shot 3 times with 9mm and lived. not once but everal times. get over it... you don't even have an argument. (our police started dropping the 9mm decades ago, and FBI, CIA, and ATF recomend you DONT carry it. to many officers have died because it didn't stop the attacker in time. Even our Rangers, Seal, Special forces, Delta teams try to stay away from the 9mm.
@weaponeer The only reason we use 9mm in the general military is because we have to "stay in line with NATO" fuck NATO, I don't want to carry a round that isn't going to stop an attacker, and as for the 5.56, it's the rifle version of the 9mm, we had problems in Somalia with the bullets just knocking people down but not taking them out unless you hit them in a vital.
I just think it's ridiculous and downright idiotic that we have to stick to NATO standards instead of our own that work fine.
Haha, you probably hate 5.56 too. As far as I'm concerned, modern hollowpoint ammunition has rendered size a relatively moot point. Any ballistics test will show that 9mm performs nearly as well as 45 acp.
@DaTrewPimpDa2nd - Nope I like the 5.56mm. keep in mind most of my pistols are 9mm. but as a combat round the 9mm is a failure. You cannot use hollowpoints in combat, you are stuck with nonexpanding ball ammo.
@DaTrewPimpDa2nd - And 9mm ball Vs 45 ACP ball. the 45 ACP ball wins hand down every single time for the last 60 years.
It's only when you use modern hollow points that they start performing more equally. but add the hollow points for the 45 ACP and it's not equal anymore.
in the end size always wins in pistol rounds. look at all the modern magnum rounds. they all go for greater mass. it's all physics.
I suppose it would be more controllable with the folding stock. But overall, I think it's a great semi-automatic pistol with a high capacity 20 round magazine.
I should note that when I built mine I retained the rate reducer. It's not needed at all for the semi-auto, but i wanted mine as original as possible. I could not retain the full-auto components, but I could retain the rate reducer, so I did.
Ah, you built your VZ 61 from a Dewat? If you did, it would have been good to have held onto the original full auto trigger group and receiver components.
My Vz61 was built from a parts kit and a registered receiver. I didn't retain the Autosear. Once you have the semi built there is no need for the other parts, so they are thrown out so nobody can say you intend to convert it in the future.
I carry a P99 in 9mm as my concealed carry. I do own a taurus pt940(.40 cal but I dropped a .357 barrel in it), and a 1911(45 acp obviously) but you don't need that much stopping power in the city. No one's packing body armor. Especially in portland where people see guns as terrible killing machines and anyone that has one is a criminal apparently. Not to mention I'd rather not kill my neighbors
This gun should be treated like a shotgun since it was designed for tank crews and speical forces (breaching and clearing). The 32 acp is great for close range. All you have to do is be accurate. This gun is made for shooting across fields (open ranges), not for things behind cover. So use it correctly, and it can be devastating(the semi automatic is not good for home defesne, but the automatic, is.)

complain about the 9mm (just cops), its all about shot placement.
I would rather have an M3 grease gun or MAC 10 in 45 than MP5 for overkill sure,
However throw in a KG99 with a 50 round mag full of 9mm's and I change my mind.
More rounds seem to mean more options, the 32 cal is small and weak right? But put nine
.32 lead balls in a shotgun shell and the enemy is in a world of pain.

According to data I found elsewhere,
GECO and S&B 73 fmj can get well over 900 fps and that is from a KEL-TEC w/
2.7" barrel.
The SCORPION has a 4.5" barrel and you should be arriving at 1000 fps + if you load to hotter European spec in .32.

you can have the .380 vz61 skorpian in canada with the folding stock (all .32's are prohibited, so we've got to settle with the .380 version). people don't realize that we can have the brugger & thomet tp9 with the foregrip and folding stock (same with the famae saf mini which is not in the states). we can get them at 18, rather than age 21. all .25's and anything with a barrel length less than 4.14"(105mm) is prohibited. we can't have ak's, but we can have the vz58s. 50 round .22's are allowed

gonna b ordering 1 of these in a week, are they worht the money? any malfunctions I should be warey of? is it a Jam-o-matic that neds tuning? or is it ready to rock out of the box? please let me know as soon as possible thanx,
kyle82386 2 years ago
They run pretty good with no known jamming issues that I know of other than some of them do not like hollowpoints all that much. mine shoots them fine, others do not. Ball ammo works perfect.

i am going to get the cz-usa pistol version, but it just really is not the same without the stock

Tough little gun, meant to be used point blank by tank crews bailing from a burning tank. Essentially one of the first PDWs.

Can you hit someone from like 300 yards with 5 shots in a row on full auto in real life? Hell no.

If you judge guns through videogames you obviously know nothing about guns. The FAMAS sucks in most games too but its a nice gun in real life, what kind of logic is that?

the famas is always the best gun in video games dude

Shifticek 2 years ago
how accurate is it? and also can i get a semi auto 9mm skorpion?
tierlover5 2 years ago
accuracy depends on how it's judged. can the shots stay within the x ring at 25 yards? no really.. the stock sights are far from target sights, so it's not going to get great accuracy, but would it keep most of the rounds into the head of a zombie at 25 yards? Yes (it's all up to the shooter. I shoot my stock Jericho 40 SW out to 200 yards. someone else may have a hard time hitting a target at 15 feet.. lol)
weaponeer 2 years ago
is it accurate? or a better question how accurate is it?
tierlover5 2 years ago
Have you ever started talking about guns when someone pissed you off?? If not, you should hahah. You're the man thanks for all the great info. I want your guns :)
busyallen 2 years ago
I just bought one of these for $730. I had to buy one because I loved it in COD4. It is fun to shoot and the recoil is low. I had a lot of problems with it at first because the bolt would not close properly after firing a shot. I had to take it apart and give it a thorough clean...now it works great. I recommend it if you have the cash, but it is not a must have!
SoldierT105 2 years ago

you can buy them from militarygunsupply(dot)com. I built mine

dude, an ak-47 is only $600 brand new
moustafalafalus 2 years ago
but an ak does not fit in a holster on your hip.. lol (I get the point... but if you are collecting it realy does not matter. in my case I have more than a "one" ak style rifles)
weaponeer 2 years ago
i just started using this weapon in cod4 multiplayer. every1 thinks its a piece of shit, but when u figure out how 2 use it, it totally dominates. especially with the sleight of hand perk. i leave a trail of bodies in my wake.
HamburgerMolester 2 years ago
My friend and I do that. And you are absolutely correct. This thing destroys. The KING of CQB. I'm getting the airsoft Skorpion soon, it looks awesome.
Tkot2326 2 years ago
yeah it is amazing. i got red tiger with it in like 2- 3 hours! its so accurate and it has little recoil, but the only thing i don't like is the reloading after every kill
axenzi 2 years ago
Doesn't Neo use that in the Matrix
CosmicDestroyer99 2 years ago
Yes he using dual in fight before elevator scene. Next is Skorion (But vz64 in 9mm Browning, has direct magazine) in III part of trilogy, where Trinity has silver berreta 92 FS.
Gangster88232 2 years ago
how does the stopping power of the .32 compare to other pistol rounds?
does the overall performance of the skorpion make up for the diference?
jimmymoltesanti 3 years ago
The 32 ACP is on the low end for performance at under 900 FPS in the skorpion but frankly the 9mm is not a great performer as far as takedown power either. The idea was if you hit someone with a number of rounds the total shock value makes up for the smaller round. The smaller round allowed lower recoil and better control, and worked better with Suppressors.
weaponeer 3 years ago
thanks for replying.
what would you say is the maximum range for being able to hit a target with multiple rounds on full auto?
(with stock)
jimmymoltesanti 3 years ago
for a large target (zombie) I would not push the skorpion much past 50 meters, but would feel comfortable at the 30 meter mark.
weaponeer 3 years ago
Your answers are the best I've read in a long time. The Skorpion would definitely be ideal for a zombie holocaust but would likely be better used if on semi-auto. Great vid btw.
armoredsoldner 2 years ago
ya really im looking into getting one. a zombie kill at 30 meters looks like have to get it now. thanks for posting.
jonthewolf 2 years ago
European .32 (7.65) is much hotter than puny USA loads. Also, are all the millions of people who have been killed by the 9mm since 1908 aware they were done in by a "not great performer"?
craigdamage 1 year ago
@craigdamage - You mean europe that bans guns with mass collections? If you think they load hotter there then you are greatly mistaken. And remember the US military does not use 32 ACP so you cannot compare it to other military ammunition.
weaponeer 1 year ago
@weaponeer Still doesn't mean they can't outdo your garage-made handloads.
DaTrewPimpDa2nd 1 year ago
@craigdamage - as for 9mm. The reason why nearly every 9mm pistol has a high cap mag is because you need all the ammo you can get to TRY to stop someone. It's not that its no great performer, it's a pathetic man stopper, and you will get faster results if you beat someone over the head with the pistol. over penetration, little expansion, not much energy imparted on the target. The military hates the 9mm for all those reasons. great weapon if you don't intend to kill someone.
weaponeer 1 year ago
.....like I said, the millions killed. If it is so pathetic, why is 9mm the single most popular handgun cartridge in the world?
How many armies
/nations
/police
use the 9mm?
How many countries use the .44 magnum for their SMGs?
How many manufacturer's have based their platform of pistols, machine pistols and SMGs on ANYTHING but the 9mm?
9mm.
Legacy.
No argument.
craigdamage 1 year ago
@craigdamage - Once again - you are clueless
how about the 7.62x25 - Tell me how many people were kill by this round
how about the 9mm - Tell me how many people were kill by this round
how about the 45 ACP- Tell me how many people were kill by this round
On the 9mm tell me how many rounds per person it took to drop them. I know how many on the 45 ACP. how about you tell me the 9mm?
weaponeer 1 year ago
@craigdamage
Why is the 9mm used? It's a NATO round you moron. How about you name the standard US SMG still issued? I'll give you a hint... it's not 9mm
The US dropped the 45 ACP not from performance, but from ease of resupply. the 9mm SMGs work the same way the the pistols do. you shoot them enough times they bleed to death.
weaponeer 1 year ago
More people have been shot by the 9mm and lived than any pistol round in world hostory. I could point to many people who were shot 3 times with 9mm and lived. not once but everal times. get over it... you don't even have an argument. (our police started dropping the 9mm decades ago, and FBI, CIA, and ATF recomend you DONT carry it. to many officers have died because it didn't stop the attacker in time. Even our Rangers, Seal, Special forces, Delta teams try to stay away from the 9mm.
weaponeer 1 year ago
@weaponeer The only reason we use 9mm in the general military is because we have to "stay in line with NATO" fuck NATO, I don't want to carry a round that isn't going to stop an attacker, and as for the 5.56, it's the rifle version of the 9mm, we had problems in Somalia with the bullets just knocking people down but not taking them out unless you hit them in a vital.
I just think it's ridiculous and downright idiotic that we have to stick to NATO standards instead of our own that work fine.
pk1444 1 year ago
Haha, you probably hate 5.56 too. As far as I'm concerned, modern hollowpoint ammunition has rendered size a relatively moot point. Any ballistics test will show that 9mm performs nearly as well as 45 acp.
Good videos though by the way.
DaTrewPimpDa2nd 1 year ago
@DaTrewPimpDa2nd - Nope I like the 5.56mm. keep in mind most of my pistols are 9mm. but as a combat round the 9mm is a failure. You cannot use hollowpoints in combat, you are stuck with nonexpanding ball ammo.
weaponeer 1 year ago
@DaTrewPimpDa2nd - And 9mm ball Vs 45 ACP ball. the 45 ACP ball wins hand down every single time for the last 60 years.
It's only when you use modern hollow points that they start performing more equally. but add the hollow points for the 45 ACP and it's not equal anymore.
in the end size always wins in pistol rounds. look at all the modern magnum rounds. they all go for greater mass. it's all physics.

Excellent SMG.

What is an SDR?
Can someone tell me please.
madeinamerica650 3 years ago
it's SBR.. and stands for short barreled rifle. In order to place a stock on a pistol, you need to register it as an SBR.
weaponeer 3 years ago
Excellent review. How is the "bump fire" on one of those? It must shoot pretty rapid without the reducer. Cheers.
SSSCLimitedTrademark 3 years ago
They are tricky to bumpfire for me due to them being so small, but it can be done (but you cannot hit anything.. lol)
weaponeer 3 years ago
I suppose it would be more controllable with the folding stock. But overall, I think it's a great semi-automatic pistol with a high capacity 20 round magazine.
SSSCLimitedTrademark 3 years ago
I like it, plus it's pretty rare.
weaponeer 3 years ago
I should note that when I built mine I retained the rate reducer. It's not needed at all for the semi-auto, but i wanted mine as original as possible. I could not retain the full-auto components, but I could retain the rate reducer, so I did.
weaponeer 3 years ago
Ah, you built your VZ 61 from a Dewat? If you did, it would have been good to have held onto the original full auto trigger group and receiver components.
SSSCLimitedTrademark 3 years ago
My Vz61 was built from a parts kit and a registered receiver. I didn't retain the Autosear. Once you have the semi built there is no need for the other parts, so they are thrown out so nobody can say you intend to convert it in the future.
weaponeer 3 years ago
is the scorpion a good self-defence weapon?
thekennady 2 years ago
not really... the 32 ACP is a low power round. for stopping power a 45 ACP would be a beter choice.
weaponeer 2 years ago
good shot placement might make it more effective. I kinda bought it for looks, but now i wanna trade it in
thekennady 2 years ago
I carry a P99 in 9mm as my concealed carry. I do own a taurus pt940(.40 cal but I dropped a .357 barrel in it), and a 1911(45 acp obviously) but you don't need that much stopping power in the city. No one's packing body armor. Especially in portland where people see guns as terrible killing machines and anyone that has one is a criminal apparently. Not to mention I'd rather not kill my neighbors
