Who are any of u to judge. Most of u have so much to say and it sounds like u don't like the truth and thats what sets u free. What god has already planned "no" man can change it so get over yourself. We didn't no but God already knew that Barack is where God already knew he would be. WHAT GOD PUTS TOGETHER NO MAN CAN TAKE IT APART . PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!
And does this come from a voice of experience or another theological scholar? Please enlighten those of us unfamiliar with the shock you're eluding to.
No, we've got enough "scholars." This comes from the voice of reason and common sense. The shock when he finds everything he so passionately "moaned" about was untrue.
Your opinion, which I don't share is your opinion, so we shall see what we shall see. Sen. Obama as he continues to show is fully capable of demonstrating who he is in a very presidential manner. Otis Moss III also is a well respected and credentialed pastor within theological circles; so your uninformed characterization is just that. Trinity UCC will do just fine evidenced by the increasing support they're receiving and they will continue to not let other people define who they are.
My believe and hope now isthat Oboma was only a member for credentials, and that he doesn't really belive in the statements of Rev W. I am afraid he will get totally blasted in the general because of clips of the Rev and association with this church.
Being respected in "theological circles" is all well and good but please try and imagine how diappointed non-angry-blacks that believed in Obama's message where when all this came to light.
Sen. Obama and his family have been a part of a very progressive, dynamic and successful community of faith that thanks to the mal intentions of some in democractic circles grasping to hold on to power, is becoming a shinning and liberating beacon to AA communities across the country. What you're more likely to see as the truth is exposed are the reactions of many in the AA community from viewing the Clintons through a different lense.
You see at the end of the day its about authenticity.
I remember as a child how these same uninformed middle class folks spoke of Martin and Malcom in similiar terms (of the day). Yet, after they were gone these same folks were the first to claim ownership of them.
As you can tell I'm an Barack Obama supporter, but I'm old enough to realize that his political candicacy should not be at the expense of a pillar of hope and liberation within the black community; which is why he didn't thrown Rev. Wright under the bus.
Well at one point Malcom spewed forth hate of whites. He later changed his tune, however, I don't think comparing anyone to Malcom as a tolerant person is going to work.
You sir need to listen to the sermon and not--just merely the pulpit that its delivered from. Your ignorance of the heritage of black preaching, which is rooted in black liberation theology. This is the tradition that Dr. King was born from, Dr. Wright, Rev. Moss III (and his father and grandfather) and many other prominent black preachers. Trinity is celebrating their race and their faith. Barack is being supported by his church despite the ignorant backlash of the past weeks. Just Listen!
We willcontineue to have our services and not allow you to dictate who and how we worship. You can curse, atempt to insult, and hyperventilate. Believe me, people will ignore you and you will have no impact, neither will your opinion. Ta Ta. Preach on Rev. Moss.
People. People. Why are so many of our hearts so closed and hardened? Why are we so quick to judge, to crucify, to lynch? We can take a 15-second portrayal of someone who's lived over half a century and cast judgement. Condemn their entire existence from a 15-second synopsis, huh? We have a real opportunity to be grown ups here, have a real conversation about something serious and stop being hypocrits. "Judge not, that ye be not judged." Matthew 7:1. Open eyes and hearts people.
Here we go again...Now trying to make a martyr out of a man who holds near and dear black liberation theology whose teaching is heretical. They (this church) are destroying themselves and don't even realize it. Please people leave this church and get into a Bible-centered fellowship that is focused that is colored blind and Christ-centered. Read the positions of the UCC doctrines and understand the covering you're under.
America is already unacceptably defined by it's color blind (black and white) history. We wish to live and develop in a world where we can praise GOD and experience all his creations in all of their diverse colors.
Please go and educate yourself about liberation theology and the UCC doctrines. Go and visit the Trinity UCC home page where Dr. Thomas, our UCC president has a message for you. Then please do come back and together we can light a candle instead of continuing to curse the darkness.
Just another run-of-the-mill black fraternity headed by just another run-of-the-mill prejudice, anti-American, unpatriotic rebel rouser with adolescent emotional development. There are far too many of these types of overly dramatic "hell raising" social clubs out there. Although once in a while they will dilute the service with a mention of the Lord's name. But this so-called "Reverend" Otis did quote Ice Cube so I guess he can't be all that bad. Just my humble opinion. Happy Easter to all.
Pelcoid, The rant about black fraternities - pointless. The inference about why AGAIN we are talking about this guy or this church in relation to a presidential candidate instead of this sermon perhaps keeping to teaching the historical significance and the meaning of Easter - valid.
that's a good point, but from what i understand otis moss is already well-known in his own right. he was invited by the democratic national convention a while back and is the grandson of a minister who worked closely with dr.king.
I can take this guy no better than Wright. "Lynch?!" What an inflammatory, needless rhetorical metaphor for Wright. It's called "politics," you radical, whiny dumbass...not "lynching." His racist church continuously places obstacles in BO's path. 'Splane this guy BO. Your pals are really "uniting" this country. Who needs Clintons with friends like this? Isn't this magical...the Obama Drama continues.
What I'm amazed most about and pray its not, is that the first handful of comments to this sermon may be indicative of America's base level of education and capacity to grow. If so how are we going to compete in an increasingly intelligent and critical thinking global society with such arrogance, immaturity and lack of academic achievement. Of the many things I find attractive about Trinity, the most compelling is that in spite of it all they continue to look up!
another key endorsement for obama ... the gov of new mexico endoreses obama ... and why ... the talk about obama's minister is a joke ... another swift boat ... another monica lewinsky ... another meaningless distraction that the rushie neocons use to distract you from bin laden, the economy, the violations in the constitution and the laws that the rushie neocon criminals have perpetrated ... and don't forget the volcker the finest financial mind in the country also endorses obama
I agree about the distractions, but who doesn't know the nature of the game by now? That's the way it is; it's a battle for an impact on the minds and actions of UNDECIDED voters. A campaign is about making yourself identifiable to a majority of voters. I am seriously pissed off by this attention-seeking behavior. Obama should feel no loyalty or need to be overly tactful in addressing this next media storm for what it is. Even beyond the election, Trinity's gotta go! He's clearly outgrown them.
Thanks for posting this video. It is very sad to hear. Seems like maybe the following verses got overlooked in Trinity's Bible.
9In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. [10] In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. [11] Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:9-11
I'm sure you accidentally posted this prior to watching the whole sermon. If you got up to go to the bathroom when your above quote was referenced, I would suggest you review the sermon again.
Black on black crime at its essence. Simply put Rev. Wright was overdue for retirement...stuck in the past and a political liability for Obama unable to operate in this new time. Simply put, this new guy is just like most pastors these days...an opportunist taking advantage of a chance to line his pockets and get national attention. The people of this church are the only answer for Obama now; they need to cast this poser out and fast. Black on black crime in the digital age. Fascinating, sad.
Shut up about Rev. Wright first. Boy what a double standard. You can't even stop Bankruptcyies or foreclosures or a downward economy...why would anyone go along with you...
First of all, I am black. The stereotypical gangbanging reference - cheap shot, off the topic, nothing new. But the reference to the "You" and the rest of your comments shows you've not listened to anything Sen. Obama has said. If Obama loses, this inability of the black community to get behind a leader, shut up when necessary, and FOLLOW will be a huge contributing factor. This guy knew full well the damage this would cause to the Obama campaign, yet here it is. What does that tell you?
I'm sorry, but I can truly say from experience that all words spoken from the pulpit are not endorsed by God. We are human, and humans make errors in judgement. God's words are not devisive or inflammatory or spoken for the sake of a rise. They are uttered to bring souls to him (of all races). Yes, I've heard the whole sermon. Keep political inferences out of the pulpit.
Isn't it comforting to know that faithful people with confidence, that are sure of who they are have no need to fear, nor curse the darkness? A people with no need nor mission from fear to beat that faith into anyone else.
You know I've found that when I call myself witnessing to someone (about Christ and salvation not politics), using words that I THINK only have meaning to me is useless...otherwise, I would just be engaging in passive combativeness. But like I said, we are humans and we make errors in judgement.
Educated people know when to shut up. Obvioiusly the racist Trinity church beholden of no such notions. Hey, mebbe they can beg to recreate 60's but us in this day embrace a more jingoless attitude... Where race baiting is allowed not to fester No MOre.
