im surprised you didn't mention building a barracks and float it over a base. it's cheap, about half the cost of a mule. it flies, and it has a ton of health.
Another effective Terran scouting method is to use your FACTORY. Lift it and send it to the enemy base. Given its high life, it can easily withstand attacks especially in the early part of the game.
BUT using this method depends on your strategy. For example, if you'll be using an MMM (Marine-Marauder-Medivac) strategy then you can scout with the Factory since you're only using your Barracks and Starports for production. For other strategies like Marine-Hellion or Thor-Rush, I wouldn't use it.
@djdoru666 On some maps you can even make it land in your opponent's base behind smoke screens for example. They might not notice it, giving you an advantage.
hey guys im geting a desktop for christmas and i wwant to start playing this game i know which computer im geting and i was wondering if any of you guys can tell me if it will work on it. its at the bestbuy website and its the cheapist desktop for $309 with 2gb memry and a 500gb harddrive please tell me!
The sensor tower placement near their base is very interesting - because you'll pretty much know exactly how many units they have in their base and the choke even without a scan - unless they were to move behind. into their mineral line to hide the size of their force (in which case a scan would reveal it). Of course it'd be targeted pretty fast by any non-AI opponent so could be a waste of minerals.
@fOrcataclysmic He doesnt mean to scan everywhere all the time. What he said if you were listening was to move your scans around, don't just keep scanning the same place. The reason he scanned everywhere was to give examples of places enemies could hide buildings. Also late game a mule is worth 300 or so minerals, maybe more. But knowing what your opponent is making is worth the game, or at least your army. If your army doesn't have the right composition it can be completely wiped out.
@Hopeofmen the rocks are only at certain choke points on certain maps. They're not always going to prevent scouting into an enemy base. --in fact, when your SCV finds a rock pile, their scouting has already paid off because you're now aware of their presence!
Keep these videos coming, you've already improved my game a ton and I can't wait to learn more. Maybe some videos on unit build priorities to complement the structure build videos? :-p
im new to the game. can someone please tell me hoe to scout for terran and zerg cuz im not bothered to watch the video and whats the yeloww circle scan thing thx
when youre checking the expansions, u can hold shift and right click on the various expansion areas on the mini map instead of scrolling through the screen like that
@fOrcataclysmic All those extra mules are going to do nothing for you if you have no clue what your opponent is doing. Yes you should use mules whenever you can and they def take priority over scans but if you have no clue what the opponent is doing then a quick scan is well worth the energy.
@TheThinkingGamer I totally agree with this, because what if, your opponent is just starting his tech to colossi, and you dont even have a starport up? a classic TvP example, where the Terran player has an army of marauders/marines, but hasnt teched to medivacs yet, and the protoss player out macroed the terran player, and is just starting to tech to colossi, the terran attacks the protoss base/natural expo/whatever and fails, he has to scan the base to see whats going on. MULES cant do that.
How are you able to click so fast to steer your units? It seems like you are right-clicking many many times to subtly direct where your unit goes. Are you using a regular mouse or something fancier?
Another tip, Shift + Right click uses the same mechanic as the shift + patrol...but they do not go back to places to where they have already been, you can use it to map the movements a little more specifically
@jojo300001 ROFL and roaches are useless in later game. They just destroy the enemy faster.

How are you able to constantly see the life level of all the units and structures? That would be handy. Is that a setting in the options menu?

@ESPMV300 Good question and I plan to cover this in my upcoming micro guide. You can enable show health bars always in the main menu under gameplay.

@TheThinkingGamer Also holding "alt" will display it, probably better since it might be annoying having the bars all the time.
