I think she has a tail beacause hers tory is like the story of the little mermaid( original mermaid story when the mermaid was to depressed and sad and when the prince chose some one else)
she saved the guys hand but he choosen some one else
@ayame22976 yeah, after Sayaka dies, She basically comes back as Octavia and Octavia, to me, She looks like a Mash up of (As I said), of Melusine, Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon, and Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, HONESTLY?!
@ayame22976 Also because she couldn't be with him. Just like the mermaid was separated from the prince by the barrier of water, Sayaka was incapable of being with her love due to her being a Magical Girl.

In episode 9 of Madoka, It basically feels like a mix (as I said) of Phantom of The Opera, Sailor Moon, and Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, right?!
Every other part of her witch form made sense. The violins playing beautifully yet chaotically in the background, rising and falling in sound like a never ending struggle of emotion. The dancing depictions of the girl who took her love, laughing, twirling and tormenting. The half mermaid form that symbolized her having to forever swim in her own tears and sorrows...
Her name, Oktavia von Seckendorff.. Karl Siegmund von Seckendorff was a German poet who wrote a book called "The Wheel of Fate". It may also symbolize the Wheel of Fortune from tarot, which includes "possibilities, opportunities, new developments, sudden changes", which fit Sayaka's life form from when she met Kyubey to when she had turned into a witch.
@IXNanako yeah, after Sayaka dies, She basically comes back as Octavia and Octavia, to me, She looks like a Mash up of (As I said), of Melusine, Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon, and Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, HONESTLY?!
@PennilessWriterB Or maybe because the place where Oktavia von Seckendorff grows(the place where Sayaka become a witch) is a train station.Remember Charlotte? She grows in a hospital so there's nurse and medicine sth like that appears and Chorlotte was the witch of Snacks so there's lots of Candy and snacks.
@DeborahNg24 yeah, after Sayaka dies, She basically comes back as Octavia and Octavia, to me, She looks like a Mash up of (As I said), of Melusine, Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon, and Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, HONESTLY?!

Ah...but Sayaka was not loving unconditionally...she wanted to be loved in return for her wish...if all she wanted was to see the boy she loved healthy and happy, him choosing someone else would not have made her so bitter...she was dishonest with herself about what she truly wanted, thinking herself selfless and noble...finally realising she wasnt noble at all, but selfish like everyone else...
Yep. Sayaka's the perfect example of a truly HUMAN character, you know? She did so much, but she sought recognition, and in the end that was her downfall. Maybe if she had been truly selfless, things wouldn't have turned out the way they had.
I loved Sayaka though and was so sad when IT happened...

personally, I think that Kyosuke was unworthy of Sayaka's affections. I'm not saying that he is obligated to love Sayaka, I'm just saying that their relationship was unhealthy for both parties, and I just cannot see them as a couple.
All I could think of Sayaka's story was kind of like the original tragica story of the little mermaid, maybe that's why Oktavia's legs looks like a mermaid's tail.
@MikuMikuDanceMode D; She was my favourite character too! It seemed like in every timeline Homura went too, Sayaka ended up dying as a puella magi or turning into a Witch.
@cookiesgood1 I just realized that now, I guess Sayaka's fate was to die as a witch in every timeline, it was her true fate, to die as a witch all because she wanted to heal the ailment of the person she loved. D;
@mexmangafan They are. According to the wiki, listening to them will suck your soul from your body, If you interfere them, the witch will beat you up.
Anyone knows where I can get the sheets for violin of this song?

Video in the background is Herbert von Karajan, quoted from Wikipedia:
"In 1933 Karajan made his conducting debut at the Salzburg Festival with the Walpurgisnacht Scene in Max Reinhardt's production of Faust."
What incredible irony, that or the video maker was incredibly savvy and decided to use Karajan because of this. Either way I applaud this.
