I've just fallen in love with this track. I'd never heard this one before but finally got a chance when listening to it on the "Today!"/"Summer Days (And Summer Nights)" CD the other night. I must have played the ending a dozen times, it's THAT GOOD! Love that shot of Brian at the end with his plastic fire helmet on, brings tears to my eyes. That's how you end a Beach Boys video....with Brian. 'Nuff said!

One of BW's best !! Hey, there, 'skinny' .. great work, congrats !! Yep .. this is rare footage indeed .. not often seen these days. This particular version of LGIOK that you've loaded-up is quite pleasingly, subtly different to the 'official' released version. For instance, it lacks those otherwise-frequent "BOW-BOW-BOW"s from Mike Love - which is a plus, since it allows the listener to take-in MORE of the backing track + prod'n. And a longer than usual ending .. plus more .. just superb !!

I was at that concert The Beach Boys had in Glassglow, Scotland. It was May of 1969. Just got stationed in Holy Loch with the Navy, USS Simon Lake AS-33. One guy on the ship had tickets. Took the rail to Glassglow. Saw the Beach Boys and went back to the ship the next day. Great times!!!!!!

This is a great track. It should have done better in the charts. Radio stations wouldn't play it because of the 5 second break before the chorus. It left stations with "dead air" so anyone tuning in would think the station wasn't there. Strange but true

The Little Girl I Once Knew , classic and so forgotton but now maybe it will get its just dues. something a bit different from the Beachboys but i love this song.. i recall it on my 45 when it first came out. i am a rock historian. i know and praise only the best and this song is a winner in my book. it never got the attention it richly deserves. bless you boys and this song. tOMK simple clean but great this song.

Couldn't agree more,rank it up in the Top 10 best tracks from ' The Boys '.I had it on a contemporary Capitol EP and it was so compressed the recording quality was shocking.Nice to hear it properly and with a longer run out than on the single.Yes,it sure is a masterpiece,the subtle key changes prooving how talented the group were.

Good question! Sounds (to my untrained ears) like the "Hawthorne, CA" version, then cross-faded with a DIFFERENT mix at the point where the Hawthorne version goes a cappella. The Hawthorne version fades out earlier than this one, and it doesn't feature my (now) favorite thing that I hear at the end of THIS one: the "honk-honk-honk-honk" of the bass sax. Haha! Maybe skinnymulligan07 will reveal the answer?

Well, it does kinda SOUND like the Hawthorn version, i.e. missing Mike L's "bow-bow-bow-bow." However, the Hawthorn version was a mono mix; this is stereo. Oh...you're right. I was watching this in HQ, but the HQ audio for this video is in mono. In stereo you can clearly hear instrumentation in stereo, but also in the middle from the mono (instruments + vocals) track that it's being synched with. You have to admit, that's a stable sync effort--not "floating around." And u can hear the instruments fade out from the middle track @ 1:55 , and back in around 2:06 -- just like the Hawthorne track. Sooo...this is Hawthorne + stereo instrumental mix?

I recently became aware that Beach Boys' fans love to produce their own custom mixes of BB songs, using various sources, cough cough! Youtuber 'SMiLEReconstruction' has put up both the "Mok" & "Purple Chick" mixes of SMiLE. The latter is said to be "the closest thing we get to what SMiLE would have sounded like had it been released in the 60's," & goes WAY beyond the mono SMiLE tracks from the "Good Vibrations: 30 Years of The Beach Boys" box set. Capitol wouldn't have allowed that. They wanted a hit single on Pet Sounds. Sloop John B had not that long reached #3 on the charts. Unofrtunately as great a song as TLGIOK is, it only reached #20 on the charts, a disaster in them days for the Beach Boys.
