@olds7980 well as your comment stands it's difficult for me to figure out the state of your gas lines. If they're rusted shut, then it indicates a flawed install. You may have to (shut off the gas & bleed the lines) cut the pipe and thread it in place.
I'd first (shut off gas & bleed the lines) take a large pipe wrench and a large crescent wrench. Pipe wrench to hold the pipe steady, and crescent wrench (perhaps with a cheater bar) to turn the valve. Just like 2:18 of video 2.
Hey to all you Jackasses out there that can't see passed your nose this video is a learning tool, especially if you think you know everything. this guy just reminded you of all the potential dangers ''PLUS''... where's your video? ''Oooh i'm certified you shouldn't be doing this boohoo'' i've seen more mistakes made by you so called ''PRO's'' than i can count teach me something i don't know about you i'll back track on just one of your jobs and show you how stupid you sound.. Get out of here!!!
That valve is a service valve. It is stopping 60 psi and you turn the valve with out touching the core nut that is the only thing holding the core together. The pressure of gas will blow or break the brass threads off you dope. To bad your meter number is not visible so I could turn you in before you kill somebody .
@GasmanTen I guess the gas company guy was following the wrong procedure, eh? What do you say to that? Gas pressure breaking the threads? c'mon, seriously? What are they, 1 micrometer threads? Let's hear a response, self proclaimed GasMan.
Hey Guy they're called professional for a reason. "Don't make a spark cuz you'll die????" WTF! Do NOT DO this at home! This was a perfect example of stupid people that will get you killed. I truly feel sorry for the neighbors.
@A1GRIGGS nah. I didn't even have a tutorial, yo. This is a step up for people power. Someone can build upon that. The professionals can stay professionals and eat from the rich, while us normal folk can just be careful and help each other along. Now's got decent info, but future will be better.
Since this (first) job, I've installed underground gas main and 4 gas appliances. It's not too much more detailed than described here. I should probably update this old 1st time vid.
@azrial4421 Why do you think I'm here dipshit? This guy opened up that valve (big no no) and never used protective tools for current. This was one of the dumbest videos ever and you clowns can't even see it. This was a job for real professionals not hillbilly "I do me dis me self, I mean how hard cou it be?" BOOOOOOM Invisible flame engulfs neighbors kids followed with three homes exploding. You say calm down? You’re a blind clown please do not reproduce.
is it legal to have a gas tap installed in youre home with a quick connect disconnect type connection for mobile indoor high powered gas cooker for catering. im talkign about being able to hook up one of those indoor high powered paella burners to a braided hose with a quick disconnect hose so i can put it away when not in use and dis connect it. so basically i want my cooker to have a quick disconnect gas hose so it can be moved around
@210482fmj by QD hose do you mean the type of hose connections which transfer high pressure gasses such as nail guns? I've never heard of a non-threaded natural gas application. Nor have I read of any mentions of such a device being used in the CBC/IBC books...
I have a feeling you'd need a threaded connection, a shutoff valve, and one of those auto-stop valves which shut the gas off in case of too much of a difference in gas pressure.
I am a female and is clueless when its a manpower job!!!!! Anyhow I want to see I would not come close to attempt doing stuff like this myself but its good to know or educated myself on what the professional are doing. So I give it a thumbs up for any video that I can view and learn what ppl are doing! Thank you!
At the age of 21, with no prior experience (1972), I installed a forced air furnace in our home to replace a gravity job which had a boiler plate door embossed with the date "1929." Boy, I wish I had that heavy cast iron door now! The job took me much of June and July as I worked on it a few hours every day--I did a considerable amount of ductwork as well. The gas company approved the job. I still have my tools from that time and have worked on gas pipe many times over the years.
I don't mean to be disrespectful, and I for one totally encourage people to DIY as much as possible...how else do you learn? I just worry about when people have a little knowledge about working with gas and end up making a huge (life threatening) mistake. If you screw up with plumbing: you flood your basement. Screw up with gas: KABOOM
Advising people to do their own gas installation is so WRONG! I'm an HVAC guy and I've seen a number of things that you've done incorrectly. Not to mention that it would nullify any home insurance claims if something went wrong and they learned that you did the piping yourself. Don't even get me started on the safety risks. You don't know what you don't know!
what if the appliance has different btu input/output of your old system? what if it requires different venting? do you know the different codes and specifications to install the systems? do you know what valves to use? what about gas pipe sizing? you can fck up your flow gas velocity and volume by tapping into a line, without knowing why it was that size already. what about my codebook saying "only a qualified person, designated by the authority of jurisdiction" may work on gas systems?
Good questions. I'll add some details to the video description soon.
calculate for future appliances. add venting. for guidelines on venting, consult "title 24" documents. secure large gas pipe every 8 feet, 6ft for 3/4 pipe and more for smaller pipes, use ball valves at the end of AGA approved for simplicity's sake, look at the +more section as you should when commenting on anybody's video, the codebook bankrupting rhetoric can suck the dick of the dick that wrote it.
PS: I never mess with the nut on the right.. With small amount of force it will turn... At least i've never had a problem when I used to do this line of work.. Disabled now :(.. but wow.. I would have pissed myself hearing the gas excape like that LMAO!
Luckly home depot and lowes will cut and thread the pipe free if you buy it from there.. They have the special machine that does it perfectly... I installed a ventless this wenter.. Give them the lengths and they will cut and thread.. Then you just assemble
thank you for the upload

How do I remove gas line that is already threaded together? I am trying to replace my valve at the base of the tank and the lines are solid shut.
