Mephisto actually reminds me of Lord Death from Soul Eater. Both run their own school, are pretty wacky normally but serious when the time calls for it, and have questionable but ultimately good motives.
I think I'm the only one who doesn't see the Izaya resemblance. Well I see it, I just don't think it fits Mephisto too well since he isn't actually evil...just mysteriously questionable. They're driven by two different motives. Plus, Izaya doesn't have the quirks that makes Mephi so lovable.

Mephisto reminds me of Izaya from Durarara...manipulates events and observes for his own entertainment. Doesn't really like to get himself involved in the actual fights and such. However, their fashion sense is on a completely different level of course. Sadly, I actually looked up the voice actor for Mephisto, and he DOES play as Izaya's voice actor. Omg, Izaya's ebilness is contagious! O____O
