beanie had 7 more carries than jahvid, let's just for arguments sake add 7 more carries for jahvid. With his average that game being 4.6 yards if we times that by 7 which is 32.3 add 111 and you get 143. More than beanies. And the cal offense is much more balanced than ohio state's. a cal running back rarely gets 30+ carries.

thanks for agreeing with my point Cal has a much more balanced offense which means that MSU had to respect the pass much more against Cal than OSU. MSU gameplanned to stuff the run and Beanie still beasted on them. MSU knew Beanie would be getting the ball just about every play, I can only imagine if OSU used the forward pass what Beanie could have done.

Well the point i'm trying to get across is that Jahvid is never going to get the ball 31 times a game, so it's not necessarily comparable. Also if you watched any Cal games you would know that cal had virtually no passing game so the defense would load 8 in the box just to stop jahvid and he still ran for 1500 yards and 15 td's. Jahvid had 383 more yards than beanie on 13 less carries. Take that any way you want it. Now, who's better?

If I was the Chargers looking for a premiere rb within the next three years... in, next year's draft, in the situation that LT is still around and Sproles is gone, I'd go after Demarco Murray. If Murray is taken before us, then, if eligible for next year's draft, I'd take Jahvid Best as a second option. He's decent at receiving, but has very good speed, and has good vision when looking for holes, and he makes good cuts when trying to elude tacklers. Not sure if he can run through tackles.

dllas92, doing well against USC is easier said than done, which is generally what most peeps nationally fail to understand. Caroll is a defensive guru and his players are beasts at every position. If you look at the list of successful NFL players who did nothing against USC, it is very impressive (M. Lynch, Desean Jackson, Jonathan Stewart, Adrian Peterson, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis, Darren McFadden, Maurice Jones Drew, Jason Cambell, etc.). I'd be shocked if Best gets 100 yards vs. SC.

If Jahvid Best can become more consistent, then he will no doubt be the best back in college football next season. But you cant say that he was this season because he was injured and somewhat inconsistent. Lesean McCoyy and Shon Greene were the two best backs this year. the 5-0 is a little ridiculous though, Arizona had a legitimate win against BYU, Cal beat a weak 7-6 Miami team, Oregon got a very good win against a legit Oklahoma State team, Oregon State barely beat an extremely overrated Pitt team. And USC is USC, they are among the best every year, but they beat an also overrated penn state team. The SEC was 6-2, with the national champion, and the competition was quite a bit stiffer in the bowl games

Jahvid Best was absolutely the best RB in the nation this year. No one aside from DeMarco Murray even came close; not Beanie Wells, Javon Ringer, Knowshon Moreno, none of em. It's a shame he didn't get as much coverage as he deserved. Nonetheless, he's looking like a sure front-runner for the Heisman in '09. Oh and djax, you gotta cool it with the hating on SEC stuff. No matter how much you despise them, they are were definitely one of the best conferences in the nation this year.
