no need to be rude. in general, the band members are running in all different directions. i'm not a sound engineer (although i do have a BA from Cal so i'm practically a genius), but i'm assuming that this distorts the sound quite a bit. how do you deal with that in the south?
Really? Wow, how smart of you to judge a 230-person band sound coming from a little camera mic sitting over a hundred yards away through screaming fans, you idiot! I'll make sure to take note and ask the whole band to travel to the south to listen to bands that no one gives a shit about outside of the south. Thanks for the input!
hey ryrycalguy, are you on calband? if so, major props to you, you guys hella entertain us during the games. just wondering though, i was watching a video of our old band in the '70s and they did some pretty awesome formations (such as a giant C that pretty much ran across the field). is there any chance we'd see new formations like that in the future with the current band?
Huh? What do you expect? The sound was recorded with a small microphone built into the cancorder that's over 50 yards away. Not to mention the crowd was really loud. A little common sense on your part would be appreciated.
The traditional script was fun. But jeeeeez, the marching precision is terrible. I realize it's the downfall of such a large beast. It's very difficult and rare for these 'mega'-university bands to have a clean and precise show. Overall a fun and traditional pre-game.
Well we're about having fun. Also, the main reason why a marching band is present in any school is because, ultimately, they're there to entertain the crowd and NOT to be too obsessed by things that are otherwise boring to the crowd. (continued)
(cont. from above) The crowd does not know the difference between a bad "interval" or a good one. Nor do they know the difference between a good "roll step" versus a bad one. Point is, college bands don't go to competitions to be precise.....we go to football games to entertain and have fun. Leave the competition drum corps style to high schools.
Or rather to groups like Santa Clara Vanguard and the BLue Devils. And I am not referring to Duke's marching band; they are not in the league of the Blue Devil drum and bugle corps by a long shot.
what a great showing by the stanford fans go bears

why are the pregame songs fast pace in this video? Some of the band members are not in sync with others. Nevertheless, they still sound good.

This band sounds like shit. They need to go down south and learn from those bands.
