  • This Greenpeace woman has no idea what she is talking about. For starters the reason they weren't able to contain the gulf spill when it happened is because the depth they were drilling at was risky, not the whole damn process.

  • Nutters ... painting yourself in crude does what exactly?

  • @davehas12

Indeed, Greenpeace are wasting their time protesting things like this, the majority of people anywhere in the world have no problem with sensible use of our natural resources; I wonder how many of these individuals never rely on any form of fuel transport to get around - I doubt many.

  • getrealnz mining and minerals is just temporary as with the kiwis who are in oz they will come back and bring back alot of wealth australia is becoming a mess theres mining everywhere coal seam gas fraking etc. a place not to settle. keep nz as green as poss.

  • (Continued)...I don't see any environmentalists claiming responsibility for the deaths of 29 people. This was preventable. And open cast mines can regenerated into flourishing man made lakes and tourist attractions at the mining company's expense.

    - I find Greenpeace's stance on real issues like deforestation to make way for dairy relatively weak. Not only is dairy bad for humans, the run-off pollutes the rivers, dairy is over priced anyway thanks to Fonterra and cows pollute the atmosphere.

  • @getrealnz

Dairy is our #1 industry (tourism's position as #1 can be disupted); if you don't like it go and live in a 3rd world country, because we'd essentially be such without it.

  • continued...

    - NZ needs the extra revenue to pay off out debt. Our country's currency is getting weaker and NZ is becoming a more expensive place to live. Kiwis are fleeing to Australia for the work and the stronger currency. We need to create jobs and the tax revenue from oil and gas will help pay off the nation's debt.

    - Regarding the Pike River disaster. The 29 fatalities could have been prevented if mine was an open cast one. (continued)...

  • Greenpeace are stifling New Zealand's economy and they're principles are questionable. As an oil engineer I can verify that the Gulf of Mexico disaster was entirely preventable and Greenpeace are using this event as ammunition.

    Consider the following:

    - Greenpeace were employed by te Whanau a Apanui to protest. If it wasn't for them, they wouldn't be there. Where were they in the Canterbury seismic surveys?

    (continued)...

  • Tthis is great!!!! thank You!!

  • Go Greenpeace :) suck it oil huggers.

  • 1:16 "its madness" no, THIS IS SPARTA *kicks oily hippy*

  • @disturbaholic

You know you've seen a real hippy when one of them has a recycle logo tattooed onto their back.

  • LOL, stupid oily greenpeace people xD

  • I find it funny when surfing Raglan to see a huge sign of BP there. What have they done for NZ westcoast? I hope BP is giving a good example and invests on more innovative ways for the automotive industry than keep drilling for oil. Just drilling deeper and deeper sounds 20th century to me.

  • And then they all get in there petrol cars and drive home, it's a funny old world

  • @TheGamingWaffle

You weren't there, how could you know what method of transportation they used? Maybe they're running biodiesel, or hybrids, or maybe they all carpooled in a van.... Jumping to conclusions does nothing. There ARE people out there leading by example, and actively working to reduce their impact on the environment. Maybe you should become one of them.

  • No offshore oil drilling! Alternative clean fuels now.
