Spanish was our second language, but not anymore. Back then, we had Spanish for a major subject. And then I think it was the government who removed it and had it replaced with English. So, the only people who knew Spanish completely were our grandfathers and mothers.

On our case today as well, English is a huge requirement for schools and job applicants. Those people who can't pronounce words properly and even have grammatical errors gets laughed at secretly by a lot of people D: It's mean.

i rather treat knowing how to speak english as a beneficial skill rather than a second language just like you can speak more than one language like our OFW if your in the middle east you can speak arabic in if in Japan Niponggo and so on and so forth its a skill to me than treating a second language.Back during the oldies did they mentioned in our Philippine history that Spanish is our second language or our National Language?Or Neither of them?

most filipinos arre fluent in english,,,others can't speak english in a good grammar but they understand it for sure. for example if one american talk to you surely you can understand him but when you talk to him in english your not sure if your english grammar is correct.

Not all Filipinos can speak English.. There we're also some of them that can't speak english... N some of the reason is that their family hasn't got enough money to enrol their children to a school n some just won't focus on their studies..

actually, it's not shameful but it's a requirement if you're going to apply for a job because as you can see Philippines wants to be globally competitive so we try to learn this language... and we are colonized by the Americans for years and English language are taught from nursery until college... until it became a permanent part of the curriculum....

I'm still proud that I'm filipino like them. I think what he's trying to say that english is a "must" in order to do well and have a future in the Philippines since most people in there will expect you to know it.
