  • Damn thats a real shame. Practice side slip for quick approach to dead stick land. What a way for a great plane to end. Easy on the elev on take off mate. Looks like you flying tail heavy and on high rates. Better luck next time.

  • Ha Ha learn to fly

  • Does not look too too bad!! It looked absolutely beautiful from 2:20 to the 3 min mark. It also seemed to handle very well at low speed just before it landed, so there is a lot to be happy about. It didn't tip stall and spin straight down at least!! Nice save at the end. Congratulations on a beautiful plane. I'm sure it will fly again!

  • LOL!!! Old fart on the controls. No sympathy here. I was at a flying field and almost killed by an old man that lost control of his airplane when his hands started shaking.

  • Had plenty of time to turn that bird upwind to make a nice save. Instead, drops her in fast downwind and blows past the runway. PANIC!!!

  • @stompmaster My thoughts exactly, he had plenty of opportunity to turn.

It was clear from the outset both that the pilot lacked confidence, and that his colleagues had little confidence in him.

  • Turns out it didn't have enough power...

  • i like the damage control! you saved that thing from needing a motor

  • gotta love that gound effect keeping it in the air. bummer. tail heavy?

  • Ever thought of going electric? You won't have to worry about dead sticks anymore. Dead sticks on warbirds = probably crash.

  • Phew, could have gone way worse.

    Great model!

  • Ouch, that hurt. Did you get her fixed up and flying again? Weird that the engine cut out at that point.

  • man, appeared gravit center out... great and nice plane...

  • I was rooting for a less damaging touch down, Better man than I I woulda been cursing up a storm, lol.

  • sorry guys , very nice p-47

  • You better have repaired it!!!

  • i love big warbirds :) and this was i nice one :))

  • Not a bad save. God, I can't stand dead sticks on warbirds. It's a nightmare. I almost lost a Spitfire when my engine conked out in the worst place possible. Luckily, she wasn't too bad. Broke a gear and some minor repairs. This is why I'm going totally electric for warbirds....more reliability.

  • Man! What kind of landing was that!

  • That's why I prefer electric Park Flyers. They are much more stable just coz they are lighter. And they are much less noisy.

  • That is so cool wow

  • Amazing looking & sounding plane. Ending was hard to watch....

  • After seeing this vid again,it may be a little tail heavy. The elevator throw may be too much.....but on a maiden flight you can't do much to adjust it.Who put that road in the way?Nice plane and hope the damage wasn't too bad.

  • Great looking plane. Sorry for the loss. Love the sound of that motor !! The airplane looked a little tail heavy, but still flyable. On the maiden flights of any of my scale planes, I always balance it forward of the recommended range and on my scratch build it's about 25% of the wing cord at the root. I will fine tune the CG after the maiden flight. No maiden flight crashes in 30 years due to CG problems. I know it's tough, but I hope to see it fly again.

  • Not a bad save, could have been a lot worse. Thanks for posting it.

  • The plane is not tail heavy.May need a fuel pump.Best bet with a P-47 is to belly it in on dead stick to save the gear.He had not many options being so low....a little more grass and it would have been fine imho.

  • what engine was that?..sounded great!

  • Those who can - Do.

Those who can't, pretend to be experts and spend their time trying to insult those who can....It's so sad.

  • I post these for my friends (vs. making DVD copies of my flights)....I had to turn off the comment section on my C-130 Video after 700,000 views....too many goofy remarks.

I enjoy criticism for that is how most of us learn in the hobby. I always anticipate the "arm chair" flyer response (in the r/c club as well as in here)....an opinion that usually is just that.

Keep on building, keep on flying!!

    Having Fun!

  • @rdavit

The irony is, this plane was designed to fight against the very action you have taken in disabling comments on your other videos. Just because you don't like what someone says doesn't make it ok to silence them. Deny it all you want but silencing "goofy remarks" is still Fascism no matter how you look at it.

Truth will always stand up to scrutiny and intellectual views are not effected by insults and trash talk.

  • should learn how to land a dead stick

  • HAA HAA...FAIL!!!!

  • bummer you ran out of room..

  • Tail heavy.

  • should have splash rolled it in at high speed imho.

  • Wow you have plenty of power, but you'd figure if you had 4 years to build it you might have had time to balance the c.g. atleast.

  • i wouldve stomped that sumbitch

like "BAM BAM NIGGA BITE THA CURB!"

  • haha some of these comments are class!! such a funny vid lol "you've got plenty of power!" nice crunch at the end, chose a gd spot tp put her down!

  • You should try to land before before it went dead stick as it seems to have a too heavy tail.

  • back to flying school biggles...

  • She looked a touch tail heavy, but it looks like you were able to trim her out. At least the motor held out until you got her dialed in- otherwise that would have been a nasty confetti-maker.

  • Horrible to see a lovely model go in, looked a right handful from the off, to add all to the mix she goes deadstick on him. Hope she did not suffer to bad but the crunch sounded horrible.

  • nice p47

tail heavy and a lean engines

not a easy task on a first flight

no matter ho the pilot is

  • YOU GOT PLENTY OF POWER "HE SAID"

  • why fly so high, and then stall out?

  • i should have been flying im a great dead stick lander lol

  • ouch sounded meaty tho :(

  • ha ha ha neeerooom bam turbo prop or tp-67 purple cat engine then the wings go with it

  • huh?

  • um,ok

  • oooooo that was pretty bad

  • Youch!!! Thats hard to watch.

  • 4 years to build that?! dude that really sucks! im so sorry you lost such an amazing plane.

  • It's repairable (thank god)....a little glue, touch up paint, TLC....we'll have her back up in no time.

  • thats great

  • @rdavit Two-years later is still a pile of trash, sir.

  • Beautiful plane! Was it fixable?
