He looks very sweet and this is a darling moment, but why did they buy a stallion for their kid? USEF rules state you can't even handle/ride a stallion for show under the age of 18. Seems like an unnecessary risk when there are more appropriate geldings and mares available, and it's certainly a limitation if she wanted to become a serious equestrienne with him.

My dad said that it's not that they're to much money but that we have to wait until we move in to so maybe next year we have to move my dad said so the maybe I can get a horse

Everybody who owns a barn don't lose hope I did because I live in Chicago so we can't have horses in the city were looking for a house but in mount prospect which is in the suburbs:( it's so sad that I will never get one;(
When I first saw this video I was crying 'cause I wanted a horse so bad. You people are saying her reaction is not big enough, but that's not fair. Maybe she freaked out later, or something. not meaning to sound mean or whatever but why is it that it's always the kid who gets a horse but their family already has horses? what about the kids that didnt get to grow up with horses? i wanna see those kids get horses, cause thats the situation im in. @raigen93 I cried watching this video. It was about the age i got my horse (she passed away 2 years ago) My family and I are first generation immigrants, while they had exposure to horses in their youth, i didnt grow up around them. I wish we did have it on tape so I could show you :) (if you have not already) have you considered going to stables that train and also sell horses? Horses can in fact be expensive, but it also depends on what you do with them and what they need.
@raigen93 I AGREE TOTALLY! My family has never had any interests in horses or farm animals even though they have lived in the country with lots of land for a long time. They think owning animals is a waste of money and they don't see the joy it can bring to people like me. I've wanted a horse for MANY years now and still don't have one. I hope when I move to my next house, then I will get one finally. My family has no idea the happiness and fun you can have with a horse. Sucks for them.
@raigen93 I saw your post on two different videos so far. I grew up with horses. I can't remember a time in my life when I didn't have a horse. They were never a shortage.. But to be fair, they do cost a lot. I know. I have paid for my own since 14, because after my parents divoce, my mom couldn't afford to. I am in college, got my associates at a communtiy college. Now I am at Oklahoma State University, but my horses are still in Texas! Hardest thing in the world for me. My point is (cont.)
@raigen93 it is extremely hard to do. You also have to think, are you going to want to stay up walking with your horse if it colics? I have spent more nights then I can count up all night with horses & it all costs. But even if expenses weren't an issue, then what happens when you do go to college? I work a full time job to have mine here & it still didn't happen. Just think about it, its a lot of work. Not trying to discourage you!! It's sometimes a blessing to wait though!

@raigen93 If you want to have horse in your own stable, then you need to have at least 2 at the same time.. It really IS expensive, and this comes from a horse owner. But yeah, worth it.

@breezerismyboi101 I agree, it's kind of awkward to say, but I have a stallion myself, my neice she's 4, I let her ride, (obviously with me holding etc). The stallion I ride has an extremely high temprement, which is pretty good, but i think that it's abit risky to give a possibly unexpireneced young person a stallion, it's a huge risk.

Ok, I cried a little:) I was given a horse for my 10th birthday and at 21, it was still one of the best gifts i could have been given. So sweet to see so many adults excited to see a little girl's dream come true:) Even though he's a stallion, he looks calm and well trained. A horse that will let himself be vacuumed is a keeper!

I would have cut off a limb to have a horse as a child. What wonderful parents you are! My friend Tracey had a Welsh pony stallion as a child--he took care of her like she was glass, and loved her beyond belief. It's obvious this pony loves Lydia as much as she loves him--what a kind eye he has. I hope she keeps him all her life. :)
Despite all the comments, this video I loved. I have owned and showed horses my whole life. It's not very often you get to do something like this where true family and love rise above all the little things we want to make negative comments about ,when it's just a video of what a family does when they come together. i no a lady who had a stallion (stud) for yrs and he grew up with the ladys daughter they were best friends then one day a mare in season walked past the stallion grabbed the little girl by her back and threw her meters in the air, sadly the little girl died. but i have nothing against stallions but please just be careful but its great to see how quiet he is and good to hear everythings going good. xx

This reminds me of when i got my horse for christmas :) It was the best gift i ever got! I had been able to share in the joy of watching him grow, and seeing him as a newborn, i ended up being the only one who could do anything with him, so i trained him,started showing ..I will never forget that Christmas when my aunt gave him to me so generously! this took me back to then :) what a great gift to have! I loved watching this, to see the gift of a horse be given :) its the best thing in the world
@breezerismyboi101 not really, owning a horse in general is a huge risk, but thats how it is,they are huge animals with a mind of thier own..... I grew up riding an Arabian Stallion, he is very gentile and sweet, and by growing up riding him i mean from as soon as i could walk till i got my own horse, his son....it depends on the horse... most stallions, arent crazy like everyone thinks... you could get a mare or a gelding that is more of a risk then a stallion..

To all the people freaking out that he is a stallion, read the comments. She knew him for a few years so they already had a bond. And by watching the video, clearly he is not a handfull. Im sure his old owners wouldnt have sold him to these people if they werent comfortable with it. Personally, I think its a beautiful moment and I think it was a good choice for the situation :D

@tlk40us This is awesome! It took me back to a time when I was that young girl surprised by a horse of my own. My parents surprised with a beautiful, wonderful horse - a former barrel racer. I called her Baby and she became my best friend. To this day... many years later... i still miss her. i now have 2 horses once again.... but there is nothing like the1st horse.... Thank you for reminding me of the gift from way back when. I have tears in my eyes... this is beautiful!
@tlk40us As much as I am wary of stallions, I also know that some are better behaved than geldings. I've been around horses my entire life (I'm 21 now) and recently was grooming a horse for a trainer and didn't realize that he was a stud until it came time to pick his feet.. I was shocked. He was more relaxed than my old QH gelding and he was an Arab! From what I see, this guy looks pretty level headed.
Wow, my parents never would have bought me a horse for Birthday, for Christmas or whatsoever... I have to buy it on my own now. I had to wait until I was 22. And now, still my parents would not pay a single cent for my dream. But now finally my dream comes true. Only a few days or weeks and I also have my own dream horse. You should know how lucky you all are who get a horse from your parents.

@breezerismyboi101 I agree, it's kind of awkward to say, but I have a stallion myself, my neice she's 4, I let her ride, (obviously with me holding etc). The stallion I ride has an extremely high temprement, which is pretty good, but i think that it's abit risky to give a possibly unexpireneced young person a stallion, it's a huge risk.

Ok, I cried a little:) I was given a horse for my 10th birthday and at 21, it was still one of the best gifts i could have been given. So sweet to see so many adults excited to see a little girl's dream come true:) Even though he's a stallion, he looks calm and well trained. A horse that will let himself be vacuumed is a keeper!

I would have cut off a limb to have a horse as a child. What wonderful parents you are! My friend Tracey had a Welsh pony stallion as a child--he took care of her like she was glass, and loved her beyond belief. It's obvious this pony loves Lydia as much as she loves him--what a kind eye he has. I hope she keeps him all her life. :)

Despite all the comments, this video I loved. I have owned and showed horses my whole life. It's not very often you get to do something like this where true family and love rise above all the little things we want to make negative comments about ,when it's just a video of what a family does when they come together. Pure & Simple.

i no a lady who had a stallion (stud) for yrs and he grew up with the ladys daughter they were best friends then one day a mare in season walked past the stallion grabbed the little girl by her back and threw her meters in the air, sadly the little girl died. but i have nothing against stallions but please just be careful but its great to see how quiet he is and good to hear everythings going good. xx

This reminds me of when i got my horse for christmas :) It was the best gift i ever got! I had been able to share in the joy of watching him grow, and seeing him as a newborn, i ended up being the only one who could do anything with him, so i trained him,started showing ..I will never forget that Christmas when my aunt gave him to me so generously! this took me back to then :) what a great gift to have! I loved watching this, to see the gift of a horse be given :) its the best thing in the world

@breezerismyboi101 not really, owning a horse in general is a huge risk, but thats how it is,they are huge animals with a mind of thier own..... I grew up riding an Arabian Stallion, he is very gentile and sweet, and by growing up riding him i mean from as soon as i could walk till i got my own horse, his son....it depends on the horse... most stallions, arent crazy like everyone thinks... you could get a mare or a gelding that is more of a risk then a stallion..

Aww thats so sweet, and whats wrong with a stallion?? Thats the most well behaved hors i have ever seen, our ponies are not as well behaved as he is and theyre either mares or geldings but our stallion shetland is sweeter than the others!

it actually did make me cry... They fit so perfectly together, the reaction of the horse on the girl is so perfect. Reminds me of this horse that I wanted. Had the same thing with him, two minutes and he followed me like a little dog that I knew my whole life. Still hoping they have bought him for me and are just training him to say one day: Anneleen, here he is! But I know it's just a dream. Some people don't know how lucky they are...

To all the people freaking out that he is a stallion, read the comments. She knew him for a few years so they already had a bond. And by watching the video, clearly he is not a handfull. Im sure his old owners wouldnt have sold him to these people if they werent comfortable with it. Personally, I think its a beautiful moment and I think it was a good choice for the situation :D

@tlk40us This is awesome! It took me back to a time when I was that young girl surprised by a horse of my own. My parents surprised with a beautiful, wonderful horse - a former barrel racer. I called her Baby and she became my best friend. To this day... many years later... i still miss her. i now have 2 horses once again.... but there is nothing like the1st horse.... Thank you for reminding me of the gift from way back when. I have tears in my eyes... this is beautiful!

@tlk40us As much as I am wary of stallions, I also know that some are better behaved than geldings. I've been around horses my entire life (I'm 21 now) and recently was grooming a horse for a trainer and didn't realize that he was a stud until it came time to pick his feet.. I was shocked. He was more relaxed than my old QH gelding and he was an Arab! From what I see, this guy looks pretty level headed.

Wow, my parents never would have bought me a horse for Birthday, for Christmas or whatsoever... I have to buy it on my own now. I had to wait until I was 22. And now, still my parents would not pay a single cent for my dream. But now finally my dream comes true. Only a few days or weeks and I also have my own dream horse. You should know how lucky you all are who get a horse from your parents.
