This was rendered completely in 3D Studio Max. Using 27 cubes, each face of the cube was given a separate material id to display parts of the E4 texture. The exploding fade and the fading in wire frame were blended in using Adobe Premiere.
Of course rubix cubes are copyrighted. Although I don't think the copyright prevents you from showing it on TV, just prevents you from making and selling the puzzle. If anything they are getting free advertising.
I checked this with rubix before making the video and they were cool with the rubix cube being used, however if any money was gained in making this video then rubix said they would want a cut, which is fair enough.

That's fantastic. Much better than my idea to train squirrels to make an E4 logo.
If I was E4 this definitely would have my vote, unless rubix cubes are copyrighted.
