Madtracker were not modern, even at its releasing, and its unfinished in many ways - but its power far BEYOND than this composition - you simply have no idea how to use this tracker, methinks... therefore I have no idea about the "How to..." title.
I love to see that there are people using trackers out here. I think the tutorial works for people who know the functions of trackers but just don't know where to start in a song. Also, you could use Drumatic 3's built-in bit crusher instead of the one that you used to bit crush each sound individually. I don't think the 808 kit sounds all that good, so you could do some tweaking. And don't quit tracking! You could find some spare time to make something.
@foxsan48 Export as OGG, Download FormatFactory, and change it to WAV, MP3, whatever. FormatFactory is the fastest and most reliable converting program I ever used.
@daniel1982 Its a shame this comment was 1 year ago, because i'd assume in that year you would've learned what a double negative is. Although, you were 28-ish when submitting that comment, I doubt you'd have learnt simple english at 29 if not already. Nothing for Noone = The exact opposite of what I assume you meant to write.
When im adding samples its going all weird. When i Add A Sample the Folder in the sample box thing come but when i add annother sample it goes to the same one and i can only use one instrument.
Okay, wankers. It is not a tutorial. I would never do anything to help you fuckers. Read the desciption. Does it say toturial? Does it say that i want to help you tracking? No! So fuck off!
'How to Create Music with a Modern Tracker' - If you do not want people asking questions... Why did you call it a HOW TO?
Or are the words 'wankers' and 'fuckers' the way you address people that actually watched your clip for 6 mins?
If 1982 is indeed your year of birth, then I think you are Immature, Impolite and arrogant - you would think that someone past their 1st quarter of a centuary in life would show a little respect for people!
Where can i download plugins and VST's like that! I'm well into using madtracker2 but revert to using fruityloops cuz there seems to be alot more plugins and effects! ..please help!
I made a video last night sharing my recent interests in making tracker music. Once I've gotten the hang of using this program, I have to say that this program is wonderful. I've made a few so-so songs with this, but I'm mostly looking for a killer set of samples. I'm mostly going by what samples I do have. But this is a pretty cool video.
I have upload a handfull of my ealy tracks. My favourite of those is "Back to Bascis". That particular one consists of 3 samples; Triangle, Sine and Noise. They are insanely small.
My point is that you don't need killer samples to make good music; Actually i'd say that you'd be better off using the smallest looped samples you can find. That way you are forced to add real mod effects, and that will give you a whole lot of experience.
I wonder how a software that has constanly been developed since 1997 can be "more dead" than a software of which the sourcecode got lost for many years until the coder decided to continue development from an old backup...
there is new versions of buzz coming almost weekly .. check jeskola web site. about modplug, ive been using it until the improvements went smaller to none. all i can see the past years are cosmetic changes
I am almost certain that everything I did for modplug was NOT cosmetic changes... And if you want to put it like this, I'm upping a new version almost every day. duh.
well sir i appreciate your effort as modplug is still deep in my heart. but since olivier stopped working on it i haven't noticed any improvements in the most critical areas - such as plugin hosting, advanced mixing / patching capabilities, multilayered instruments, midi plugins .. i was thinking about contributing to modplug until i realized that making vst plugins for a decent host gives me quick results and an option to change when i feel like it
Well, VST and VSTi hosting certainly got improved in OpenMPT, however it is correct that some crucial stuff like plugin delay compensation is still missing - mostly due to the fact that nobody in the current dev team really knows much about VSTs - and judging from the VST support in Olivier's modplug, he didn't know too much as well.
all i know is how to use the drums pattern part of MT2. but i wanna know how to get other notes in like piano n stuff. or how to use those numbers n letters thingy
Those 'letters-thingies" are effects, and you only need to use them if you want to geek out and do some serious tracking with samples; not VST instruments.
Hit the white New Instrument button under the box at the upper right of the screen. Double-click the newly appeared "New Instrument" line. When the window comes up, click the yellow folder. Click the drop-down box and select "Samples". Browse through these folders until you find something you like. To get a different pitch, try a different keyboard button.

Depends upon how good a musician you are. I reckon you'd have to be really top-flight to get a chance at what you suggest but if the ambition is there ......
The one question I would pose is whether a tracker is the best way to achieve your ambition. Although useful and powerful, the technology is pretty old.
But, as with everything, it's what you make of it (and with it). Good luck.
One more thought: although I doubt that you'd get a mainstream record label interested, it's worth considering Independents and to realise it would be a hell of a feature if you managed to create professional-quality tracks using freeware. The only similar thing I can think of was when Daniel Beddingfield first came to notice. One feature that kept being mentioned was the fact that he created recordings in his bedroom. There's not much point - just put 'Madtracker' into your search engine and you'll go straight there. The URL won't be accepted in this type of reply.
There are LOADS of VST plugins you can track down for yourself with a bit of perseverance
I never put my email into messages, and (as with URL's) it wouldn't be accepted anyway.
There really is no problem finding the software and downloading it and stacks of free plugins.

You can convert ogg to mp3 with Audacity, if you must (ogg is a much finer format than mp3).

Good stuff, I have played about with loads of trackers (Modplug,Milky,Fasttracker,Scream,Octamed,Protacker) but haven't made anything half decent since I used my old atari ST and Audio Sulpture. I tried using a couple of VST's with Modplug but kinda got fed up, may go and give mad tracker a bash now!

daniel1982 here.
The VSTs I used here are some that come with MadTracker 2 by default.
* Drumatic 3.dll for drums.
* dfx Buffer Override stereo.dll for drum manipulation (love this one!).
* FreeAlpha.dll for bass.
* Synth1 VST.dll for melody and so forth.
Don't be scared by Synth1's cheap graphical design! It's a real sweet instruument.

You should check out Renoise, it's really nice as well. Also has VST support.
