Les bauer offers the tactical 338 lapua, and garentees 1/2 inch moa. I happen to own one, and it lives up to its garentee. The smallest group ive shot being .36 inches.
While I love your rifle... I gotta give a shout out to Tac Ops. Insane accuracy .25 MOA guarantee. I wouldn't be surprised if <1% of their buyers could actually out-shoot the rifle
I really need to make a new video with this weapon. My shooting has improved quite a bit and these 1/2 M.O.A groups are almost embarrassing compared to what I can do now. As for the case. I got it through tactical rifles when I purchased the rifle. I am in Afghanistan right now so I cant go look at the actual make/model of it. Thanks to all for the comments, both the positive and negative ones.
@1991bryon There are many great weapons out there. More and more guarantee 1/2 MOA all the time. There are probably others but the one thing that makes tactical rifles unique with their accuracy guarantee is that they do not vise the gun and shoot in a climate controlled building with an electronic trigger. They actually take it outdoors and shoot off a sand bag to achieve their 1/2 MOA. That is what attracted me to them along with their customer service.
the newest update... been shooting at 750 yards with groups of 3" or so. (to lazy to climb a cliff to see the group) Soon I will try hitting prairie dog sized target at 1000 yards..... wish me luck.
Nice rifle man, fixing to order an M40A5 from them, in all OD since I paint guns anyway, but I'm excited, working with David too. Lol, gonna be a loooooong 6-8 months!
Change the Manufacturer of your amunition,Your groups will shrink. if you reload try Dupont IMR 4064. try Hornaday and some Sierra Match kings Glass bead the action. no matter what you think, float the Barrel, get every bit of information you can from David G Tubb. the flyers are from shifting of the action/barrel. My .308 will shoot 1/2 @100 all day long and 1inch@300.
Also..let your barrel get fouled if you clean it to much..(not as good as you might think). If your barrel gets fouled its not realy bad it may stop all the flyers.
There is a cleaner called 762 its to harsh on a stainles steel barrel.
thought about 300WSM and 338 lapua... i wanted to be able to afford going out and shooting. 300 WSM is quite a bit flatter and 338 Lapua is far superior but 308 is so much more affordable.
.308 is what the british army still uses out past 1000m to drop insurgents, alot of people think they use .338 past this but there arnt enough rifles.
They used specialised .308 ammunition and kill out past 1000m
It may help but I will say that probably one of the biggest things on my rifle that I love is the muzzle brake. I dont anticipate the recoil and it makes me more stable and less twitchy. I can shoot all day and not get a sore shoulder.
took it out and shot some longer ranges the other day. We were shooting at a tree stump at 736 yards with gusting cross winds. I was getting consistent hits I would guess around a 5-6 inch group.
how much does something like this cost.....i want to get into long range shooting and want something nice. i've seen the barret M's going from anywhere from 4k-10k. wasnt sure if this was any cheaper or about the same. very nice rifle, thanks for sharing.
the total cost of this rifle with everything you see is $5200. If one wanted the same weapon but for about $1000 less it is very possible if you dont go top of the line on the accessories.
i wanna go long range because im tired of short range.....i have a 9mm double action, 45 magnum research, 12 gauge....so im ready to shoot something a little further than the normal handgun range!
if im talking about magnum research im thinking about the DESERT EAGLE!!!no offense,BUT only idiots and john waynes shoot revolvers NOWADAYS...so cry...
go back and look at the DESERT BABY EAGLES....those are handguns not revolvers that my friends whom i guess are now idiots use. i would never buy a revolver from magnum research on Colt or S&W
I can shoot the same groups with my Remington 700 PSS DM in .300 win mag and its trued and accurized by Remington in house. Yesterday I put 6 rounds in a 3" group from 1000 yards laying prone with my rolled up carhart jacket rolled up under rear of the stock. The rifle loves 190 gr HPBT Match ammo
The AI AW is a very nice weapon but to me it is not worth another 3K to get it. I dont think I will ever be able to shoot to the level of this rifles accuracy so it works very well for me. thanks for the comment.
I would agree that other smiths offer the same guarantee. Perhaps they should state the conditions that guarantee is met. I.E. Benchrested, indoors, vised, or off a sandbag. There are many great smiths out there and I am just saying that Tactical Rifles provided me with a great weapon system at a very fair price.
I went to the range today and did some more shooting. I finally broke the 1/2 MOA problem I was having and it was all shooter induced. Shot 2 5 round groups at 200, 1/4 MOA.
Couple dozen popular and unpopular smiths I can think of right now will offer a 1/2moa garantee with match ammunition. Tactical Operations offers a 1/4moa garantee on their rifles and I havent seen any of them shoot worse than 1/8 moa. But any of the popular smiths out there build great products which is why they are popular, but like with anyone, you might get a bad apple every once in a while, usually good smiths are wanting to make it up for you, love the rifle though.
any of the big name smiths guarantee 1/2MOA its not just tactical rifles. tactical rifles only gurantees 1/2MOA 3 shots, GA precision, Patriot Arms, KMW, LSR all guarantee 5 shots 1/2MOA and they dont rip there customers off. tactical rifles customer service is sketchy at best. search on snipershide and you will hear plenty of reviews. all of my patriot arms rifles shoot around 1/4MOA 5 shots with loads as long as i do my part.

Kiowapilot2000. Did you Skim Bed your AICS Chassis or did you just screw it in using the correct torque?
300WidowMaker 2 years ago
I did not bed the stock. It was done by tactical rifles when they built the rifle for me.

Yes they should but some just wont.

Nice rifle but lmao "ou will not find another comapany who guarantees 1/2" inch at 100 yards".
How about GA precision? TBA? APA? Tac-ops and so on.
Remington700308 2 years ago
Les Baer guarantees their AR with 1/2 MOA groups. Any bull barrel rifle with handloads should do 1/2MOA at 100 yards.

nice rifle, just needs a paint job

excellent, once you hand load and you find the butter zone you won't want to fire anything else through your rifle it'll be so accurate.

my cz 550 in .308 with a B.S.A essencial 6-24x50 scope and bi-pod i can get a half inch group no sweat. doing a vid soon.
btw hand loads.

I am planning on hand loading here pretty soon. Last time I went out I was shooting 1/4 M.O.A. with her. I get better and better every time I shoot.
