Do you use a scoop at all? Or maybe you do, but just not in these vids? Also, it seems there is next to no current in the little rivers you go in. Thank you, you have inspired me to actually consider some rivers. I have a CZ-21 but hadn't thought of taking to to rivers. I will now! :)
@cdubMRA Thanks. A scoop is worse than worthless on a rocky bottom. It's so much easier to just fan the silt away The currents can be very strong in some areas and almost none existent in others. The area of the river this was filmed in has a swift channel that requires you to hang on to keep from being swept downstream. The CZ-21 is a great machine. I have two of them and have found plenty of great relics with them. Good luck out there!
There's a clay jar buried 6ft deep sealed with red wax. Inside are 2 items. John W. Booth "Diary"
and a " Jeweled Dagger" made out of 3 gems within its handle. At the end of the Daggers handle there is a red diamond and in the cross handle are to blue/green gems. The blade of this dagger use to be a spear. Specifically the Spear of Destiny. The vatican gave it to Him. Booth gave both items to Elizabeth Quesenberry- she had them hid. Problem is its owned by catholics. Understand the headaches?
way to go on the river finds. nice pile of bullets! large cents are always nice to find. barber Q. is cool too. i have u on my top hunters list on my channel
.....@CoinCollector1234 I use a Fisher CZ-21 when I am diving and a Garrett AT-Pro when I am in shallow water. I'd use the Garrett everywhere if it was dive rated.
....@dswa2286 Never noticed it, but you are right. I wish I saw it before I made the video and I'd have included a side shot still. Thanks for letting me know!
Hey Beau, I'd say those finds are sponge worthy! That clam was awesome. It looked like eyes and a mouth with sharp teeth just waiting to bite something! The 1897 quarter was wedged in something. Was it wood or rocks? I love your videos, PLEASE keep them coming! Best wishes and HH for 2012, Dave.
.....@Daddydigger1 Thanks for the comments. The quarter was wedged in a crack in the rocks. It's amazing how tight they get stuck in there. It's pretty common to find them that way.
....@zaxfire69 I've seen some really bad water down your way. But also a few creeks that don't look all that bad. Don't know when I'll be back out that way. Probably not until I make my annual trip to Arizona in the fall. I'd at least give the creeks a shot if I were you. I have read of some pretty neat stuff coming out of the water out your way.
.....@Patrickma81 I can usually score some unopened brews later in the season as they are just sitting on the bottom, from careless tubers and such. Drank a few of them though they are usually kinda warm...
Heading up toward Natchez tomorrow to try a new spot. Otherwise been trying some new places around here with not much to show. Also, its been a very wet winter so far, so opportunities have been limited. Hoping the new year is better!
....@TigerRifle Good luck tomorrow. I got a great Nat Geo book for Christmas from RobZ in Atlanta. It's called "Lost Gold of the Dark Ages" by Caroline Alexander. It's based around the Saxon hoard recently found and has terrific pictures/maps/drawings and history of the part of England we dig. It's the most concise and interesting history of that area I have read. I highly recommend it!
....@TigerRifle All the creeks and rivers are way up now and will remain so until early summer. If I went now I'd end up in the Chesapeake in no time. Plus the visibility is about zero inches. BTW, where ya been?
Brilliant video hunt. I just love your brand of river treasure hunting and actually wonder why so few people seem to do this? Those finds are awesome and that plate looked as though it would clean up nearly as new. Thanks for sharing the search and I hope you'll make the next river hunt a little longer if possible? By the way, you make this type of hunting look so easy... Happy New Year and GL & HH 2012 :D
.....@fluoridekid Thanks fk! There are more people doing this than you think, they just aren't dragging along an underwater camera. As for easy, once you find a spot it's great for the first or second trip and then it's GONE. As you can see, the bedrock is usually very close and the targets shallow and easy to find. Plus the spots are few and far between. What you aren't seeing is days of going out and finding nothing. But it is exciting when it all works out!

I have only dug one full beer. Didnt open it should of checked to see if it was flat. Covered with dirt it's a little less appetizing.

Creeks look clean. Good to see the wildlife. Add a floating beer cooler and I would never leave.
