Gate 2 street....a few blocks from BC street...and inbetween the two streets was WHISPER ALLEY....where dirty dirty dirty shameful things happened...mostly on payday weekends...
@VoodooPolitico Really? I'm shocked, never knew that sort of stuff occurred on Okinawa! ;-) There's a rumor of a few other similar places but they've been shut down, (or so i've been told!)
@bboyquest9 Unfortunately, I'm no longer in Okinawa. And as far as to stop stating my opinions, I rather enjoy my freedom of speech. I served to defend the right to do so for the both of us. Peace!
Thanks for the video, I was there back in 77 and it had more clubs back then. I remember one Okinawan dude trying to give me a tour of the area, but I didn't trust him. I thought he was going to shanghai me to a dark alley and roll me for my money. Beyond that, this video brings back good memories.
I was at Kadena in 71-72. Frequented Gate 2 street alot. Stayed at Mayflower Hotel on BC. In this video, there is a bar, not sure of name, but is to the left of the Minila Bay Cafe in this vid. Has blue front w/ sillouettes of dancers. In early 70s, this was the Cabaret Night Train. That is where I spent most of my nights. hehe I have a picture of Night Train and Manila Bay from almost exactly where you are taking vid. WOW! The changes, traffic is opposite now from then. Thanks for the memories
There used to be a club down towards the end on the left as you are driving out of gate 2 that had a Darkside of the Moon type prism painted on the door. I cant remember the name but they played lots of classic rock. That was a good club..
@meuroc A-Sign! Thats exactly right. Man that brings back foggy memories. Thanks meuroc! I was there 87-91, started at Camp Foster ended up at Camp Courtney.
I was there in the early 80's. Lot's of clubs, souvenir shops, tailor shops, etc. "Hip Hop" wasn't even a word yet! Chi-Chi's is a block or so away, it is fairly new within the past 10 years or so, sooner I think. I'd never been there, not my cup of tea.
obscene music lol.

That would be A-Sign. At least that's what it was was when I was there from '93 - '98. When I went back in '03 Gate 2 Garage was there instead.
