Damn I love the sense of scale at this game, everything looks so realistic with proper human/nature/enviroment scale. This is something that all mmorpg games should look forward to!
@MegaDiablo3 diablo is just plain diablo actually "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light" has a jump advantage than diablo :D i have diablo and diablo 2 spent some time with it specially diablo 2 with a floppy disk by my side to carry your character to other pc :D but diablo is just plain diablo not GW2, GW2 is a Next Gen MMORPG :)

Honestly, Guild Wars 2 is not going to attract more players than GW2 because it's just the same old MMO with a typical asian theme...Guild Wars 2 brings something new and innervating on the table and people seems hyped for it.
Ahh cannot wait.. some moments playing as a Ranger almost feels like an FPS mmo which is amazing....game is full of rich maps, sounds great, looks great, flawless animations, character placement and environment affect combat. Dynamic quests which turn into FUN ( stress on the fun here ) Raid events.. Massive WvWvW PvP .. what else could you want? come out already! :D

There are no more Skill Trainers ingame , all skills are obtained by playing the respective weapons . Traits / elite skills are unlocked by participating / doing certain dungeons / minigames.
Also the Elite skills are affected by the way you create your character from the beggining , starting with the Gods and the personal story-line.
@Gustave154 ArenaNet just announced it a couple of days ago: 2012 will be the year of the Dragon :) - there is still a lot of room for a specific release date in that announcment, but the endless pondering might stop now: there is a 'glimmer of light' on the horizon.

@MrGwallgof I could be wrong. I knew that they could use the staff, but for some reason I thought that they used it for melee based attacks. It would be awesome if Guardians did have range. That would mean that no class would restrict you to certain types of fighting.
@Deboogs absolutely - thats one thing I'm really looking forward to most in GW2 - no more waiting in a queue for that least played role. Hybridity is what keeps classes fresh and interesting, and it'll keep players hot on their toes trying to work together to form a perfect team. Heres hoping ArenaNet pull this one off, bigtime!

@60groszy I think a lot of the complexity in the ranger would be around what pet to use and what pet to have in your other slot plus controlling your pets. Ranger is and never has been a profession I was looking into but never the less does not look boring. The Ranger is just not my or your style. You are probably like me and should look into the thief or mesmer, or maybe even the engineer.

I dont know what you mean by it doesnt look right to have somone magically pull an arrow onto the screen, how can any game dev ever pull off giving the players a sack with arrows in it and then have them change bags by having thousands of restock areas everywhere then making the class crappy because they can only carry maybe 10 arrows.. You know what also doesnt seem realistic.. everything in this game because there are dragons and everything is magical .....

@Shinkajo Everyone will be able to choose their own "story". I can't remember the name of the video that agrees with me but I am sure if you look around you will find it. According to Arenanet, any person can choose whether they want to defend a city or not. That leads to the belief that this was a choice made by the creator of the video. Or, since it is recorded footage from a demo there was little choice at the time. Remember the game is still getting developed and edited.

As much as I'm really excited about this game, I have to say that voice acting is pretty awful is almost every gameplay video I've seen so far. But if everything else is as awesome as the creators say, I don't care very much ;]
@Aragoss Not all of the voice actors are the greatest, but the iconic characters for each of the races of this game have some very talented people as their voices. People like Steve Blum, Felicia Day, and others will be doing voice work.
@DisturbedKoala Yeah, I've seen the video with Steve Blum and other actors voicing icon characters and it was really good. But here I was talking about cinematic conversations. Soldiers, priestess and other npc's in personal story quests sound very artificial. More like voice generators than actual actors.
@Aragoss Well they don't exactly have the greatest of funds to get the best actors for all of the npcs in this game. They've said that they've gotten 60 feature films worth of spoken dialogue but I doubt they would have all famed actors for everything they put in the game. So I think we should just be happy that the important npcs in relation to the main story are well taken care of. lol
@DisturbedKoala Of course I understand that. I also prefer them to polish the game engine, graphics, story, events and all the other really important stuff instead of wasting their budget on short videos. It's just that I feel students from acting schools can do better than that. For less ;]

@ThiVasss Don't worry about that anymore. There was a recent blog (from yesterday) that mentioned they changed skill acquisition from what they've shown in demos in the past. There's two different forms of skills: There's weapon skills on the left bar then there's the skills (utility,healing,elite) that make up the right side. The wep skills are unlocked by wep usage while the other skills are unlocked by varying amounts of skill points. And skill points are acquired by skill challenges.
People should just be happy that they are making such a great game! Stop complaining
They have changed so much for the better about fundamental game mechanics since people have said "just release it already" for example a few months ago you bought your skills from a skill trainer, now you earn them by using the required weapon. They only recently added and designed skills for engineers tool belt and figured out how to set up the way that Rangers pets will work underwater etc.
@leongradoazz I quess that's for performance reasons (look at the size of the city). But it is just a zoning-portal. You will still be able to see every player inside the city. Imagine it (if familiar with WoW) like zoning between Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor: Those are technically two different maps, but the game as a whole ist still open world.
@leongradoazz there is also a personal zone in tyour home town, that only you and your partymembers can join, in that part of the city you cant talk to friends you saved, visited graves of friends you didnt save...

also I never like the whole non-moving dialogue and videos of just moving pictures if you know what I mean. With good graphics and gameplay you need a bunch of short game videos with movie quality. Half the players out there will skip it but the other half relies on that as a large part of the entertainment and a sense of the rpg story.
only thing bugging me about the gameplay videos so far is how close the camera is glued to the chars, never seen anyone drop the camera back a bit, so im wondering if u can? :S

ONLY complaint I have with this game....the characters look so lifeless and stale....you see no emotion even in the cutscenes.
otherwise this game is so perfect...I hope they add some facial animations to the game before release or something just to help immerse me.

pretty sure anyone that managed to get into the closed beta during December would have been bound to some agreement to not record / post GW2 videos, though as much as it sucks.... it's understandable.

this game will sux for RP. Basically you story is set in stone. I mean comon, how lame an opening was that "today i planed to venture out of the city, but when i reached to to village it was under attack" -___-. Horrible voice acting. Maybe i don't want to be a goody two-shoes who want's to "show the people there is still hope", maybe i want to be a superior than you, treats everyone like trash noble who is interested only in fame and fortune. I love everything about GW2 except the story shit.

@Shinkajo Everyone will be able to choose their own "story". I can't remember the name of the video that agrees with me but I am sure if you look around you will find it. According to Arenanet, any person can choose whether they want to defend a city or not. That leads to the belief that this was a choice made by the creator of the video. Or, since it is recorded footage from a demo there was little choice at the time. Remember the game is still getting developed and edited.

As much as I'm really excited about this game, I have to say that voice acting is pretty awful is almost every gameplay video I've seen so far. But if everything else is as awesome as the creators say, I don't care very much ;]

@Aragoss Not all of the voice actors are the greatest, but the iconic characters for each of the races of this game have some very talented people as their voices. People like Steve Blum, Felicia Day, and others will be doing voice work.

@DisturbedKoala Yeah, I've seen the video with Steve Blum and other actors voicing icon characters and it was really good. But here I was talking about cinematic conversations. Soldiers, priestess and other npc's in personal story quests sound very artificial. More like voice generators than actual actors.

@Aragoss Well they don't exactly have the greatest of funds to get the best actors for all of the npcs in this game. They've said that they've gotten 60 feature films worth of spoken dialogue but I doubt they would have all famed actors for everything they put in the game. So I think we should just be happy that the important npcs in relation to the main story are well taken care of. lol

@ThiVasss This demo is old, the system doesn't work like that anymore. Follow arenanet's blog for some info on how the game is now, you'll not be disappointed. :)

@ThiVasss Don't worry about that anymore. There was a recent blog (from yesterday) that mentioned they changed skill acquisition from what they've shown in demos in the past. There's two different forms of skills: There's weapon skills on the left bar then there's the skills (utility,healing,elite) that make up the right side. The wep skills are unlocked by wep usage while the other skills are unlocked by varying amounts of skill points. And skill points are acquired by skill challenges.

They have changed so much for the better about fundamental game mechanics since people have said "just release it already" for example a few months ago you bought your skills from a skill trainer, now you earn them by using the required weapon. They only recently added and designed skills for engineers tool belt and figured out how to set up the way that Rangers pets will work underwater etc.

@leongradoazz I quess that's for performance reasons (look at the size of the city). But it is just a zoning-portal. You will still be able to see every player inside the city. Imagine it (if familiar with WoW) like zoning between Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor: Those are technically two different maps, but the game as a whole ist still open world.

@leongradoazz there is also a personal zone in tyour home town, that only you and your partymembers can join, in that part of the city you cant talk to friends you saved, visited graves of friends you didnt save...

also I never like the whole non-moving dialogue and videos of just moving pictures if you know what I mean. With good graphics and gameplay you need a bunch of short game videos with movie quality. Half the players out there will skip it but the other half relies on that as a large part of the entertainment and a sense of the rpg story.
